  1. I have to agree about the Euclid Avenue BRT. Even if there is interaction with the traffic signals, it is so poorly implemented that I can't imagine that the bus would run any slower if they just obeyed the natural cycles of the lights (such as the Green Line east of Shaker Square). As someone who has always been interested in traffic flow and systems engineering, I can't imagine how we can have timed lights on Carnegie but we can't get the lights on Euclid Avenue to work even remotely close to how they should.
  2. I was there a few days after the soft opening (in mid-December) and the waiter was begging us to be the first to buy the Megatini.

I am not referring to his militia post as much as his one where he asks where it stops. Does it stop with guns, and if so, why? Should you be allowed to have automatic weapons? How about hand grenades or rockets? How about nuclear weapons. I think that it makes sense to recognize that no matter where you stand on guns and the 2nd Amendment, a line has to be drawn at some point where we say that some weapons are illegal.

Hts44121 is asking the question I've always asked "2nd Amendment people", but nobody seems to have any answers.

  6. I agree with willyboy. When I go to the beach, I pretty much never even go in the water. I like the sand. I like walking on it, laying on it, playing volleyball on it, throwing a football around on it, etc. I would assume I'm not the only one. Sure, if you COULD go into the water, that'd be cool, but there are plenty of uses for sand that don't involve going into the water. I also agree that this shouldn't be compared to CBS. We're talking about a temporary usage of less than one acre of currently unused riverfront land.
  7. It sounds like the type of place I wouldn't be able to keep my wife away from. :)
  8. Even DanB?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  9. Yuck, what a terrible design.
  10. *knock knock* "Hello, anybody home, McFly?!" Duh  BREAKING NEWS: Humans have an innate ability and tendency to categorize things. ...more at 11. First of all, you quoted wrong. Second of all, I thought it needed to be said since Seth didn't seem to take that into account with his description of the reasons for white flight. I can't wait to read more great posts at 11!
  11. I agree with you to an extent. However, people are not perfect judges of behavior and sometimes jump to conclusions. Skin color is one factor many use to come to these conclusions.
  12. I think that's good. The area is certainly saturated with retail. Bring in new residents!
  13. That's good to hear. That is my biggest disappointment with the development on the south side of Cedar Road. What "development" are you referring to? Whole Food was built right up to the street and so was University Square. Cedar Center south was not rebuilt, just refurbished with new facades and signage. I am referring to Cedar Center South. Whole Foods was built up to Warrensville Center Road (and with no access points facing east). It is set back with a driveway and parking between it and Cedar Road. The rest of Cedar Center South was refurbished, but surely still part of the entire "development" (development doesn't exclusively mean new construction). I love the fact that there is a Whole Foods at Cedar and Warrensville. I don't like how it interacts with the street. For an example of how things can interact with the street and still have parking available, look no further than Lee Road, especially the stretch on the east side between Meadowbrook and Silsby.
  14. That's funny, because my parents ate at B-Spot, and my Dad (who drinks exclusively crappy beer) was complaining about that. I had been there once before and noticed that on the menu many of the beers I like were the same price as Bud Light. I was ecstatic. When he said that, I flat out told him, "they're trying to tell you not to drink that crap". I really liked B-Spot. I have been to the restaurant twice for lunch and once at the Q. The restaurant was better than the Q (and obviously has far more options on the menu). The burgers are good. They aren't jaw-droppingly awesome, but they're good. And considering they're cheaper than a Red Robin burger, I'll gladly lay down $6-$8 for good, trustworthy ground beef. As far as the fries go, I think it's a "love it" or "hate it" situation. I love them, but the taste is very unique, so some people are bound to hate it. As far as Paladar goes, I think it's a great place. I haven't been to Marbella, so I can't compare the two. I believe Paladar is considerably less expensive, and considerably more lively.

  16. I personally have not used them (I ditched Time Warner for AT&T DSL + DirecTV), but a couple of my coworkers have and love it.

..and your photo is where?? My photo is here, ProkNo5 used it to stalk me. Here's a hint. Look for lots of hats! I've been cranking out MTS pillows and T-Shirts on Ebay for over a year. They're a big hit in Thailand ;) Don't forget all the ones I bought. Especially the pillows.
  18. Or just replace "$" with "%24".
  19. I think I'd like to see a cite on that before you go throwing out the "jews have all the money" canard. Thank you very much. Really? I think what he said is a pretty well known fact, just as if he said African-Americans and Hispanics as groups are the poorest in the United States. He didn't say anything bad about Jewish people at all (nor Indian-Americans). http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/relgwlth.htm http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/148845 The one that shocked me the most is that Protestants don't have much wealth, although "Protestant" covers a MUCH wider array of people than "Connecticut WASP". :)
  20. OK, thanks, that's what I thought.
  21. So when we were talking about Blackfinn a while back, was that the Chinato space or this space?
  22. I agree, Chinato looks nice, and will be a nice corner to have filled. Speaking of key spaces getting filled, does anybody know what's going on at the opposite corner (across the street from the Corner Alley)? Sorry if I missed it, but I couldn't recall or find discussion of what was going on there.
  23. Behavioral/cultural change has to be wanted first; you can't force it on people. Individuals need to take accountability for their own actions first. It's interesting how black people are held accountable for the "black Community's problems", but white people are not held accountable for the "white community's problems", such as in Appalachia or the KKK or southern hate crimes. I think it's important to realize that no black individual is any more responsible for the actions of others who may be bad apples than any individual white person.
  24. And I think you ought to treat what I said as food for thought as well.
