  1. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the underside of the arches of (I believe all 3 of) the bridges are made of some type of thin tannish/reddish special type of brick. I went on a bridge tour a little while back and that's what they told us, but I don't remember what the special type of brick it was.
  2. Nice pics, but one correction. They are Schweinfurth bridges.
  3. I like the closeup of the single tree set against the vast background. Also, I like how the colors are varied, yet unsaturated. I don't know how to put it in words I guess. I just like it.
  4. I mostly agree, except that I like #2 (although I would like it more if there wasn't a person in the photo). #8 is my favorite, though.
  5. Carnegie has been "normalized". 3 ways in each direction, it used to be 4 and 2 depending on rush hour... I can't tell you how many cars I saw driving head on into oncoming traffic over the years because they didn't understand how it worked... Yes, Carnegie has been two-way now for about 5 years. It went from being 2/4 morning, 6/0 afternoon, 3/3 other (6 total lanes) to 2/2/turning lane (5 total lanes) all day. It was a terror when it switched as people always tried to go westbound when it was 6/0 eastbound in the afternoon (strangely it was never 6 lanes one-way westbound, only 4/2). It was also completely unnecessary. Now that it has gone from 6 lanes to 2, traffic still flows pretty well even at rush hour as the lights are timed well for traffic to move between 30-35 MPH. As for one-way streets, I couldn't be happier that Cleveland hardly has any of them (save for alleys).

yes we did... and i'm pretty sure we both had a rather spectacular experience! Absolutely. Congrats! I hope you have a nice anniversary weekend planned! Thanks! we were going to hit up L'Albatross amongst some other things... Ha, eerie, we had a University Circle anniversary as well. We stayed at the Glidden House (one of the mansion suites), had dinner in Little Italy, and lunch the next day at Sergio's. I've wanted to try L'Albatross since talk of it opening on here, but haven't made it up there yet. Hope you have fun!

Not that you're counting! LOL Just making sure I don't forget an anniversary! :) Honestly, though, I couldn't be happier.

Married for 524 days, 2 hours, and 44 minutes. Approximately. By the way, I believe the Mayor (McCleveland) and I had our receptions at the same place.
  11. Remember when I predicted a 4-12 record at the start of the season and you guys all harped on me for being a pessimist? Now it looks like I was being fairly optimistic.
  12. Atlanta's drivers are some of the worst and rudest I've encountered, as are most sprawling cities. I think it stems from frustration of having to drive so far everywhere and the horrible traffic.
  13. Awesome. Now I can enjoy reading UO again. The old version is so much easier on the eyes than the new version.

However, that still makes no sense that a business has not insurance. There is more to this. stay tuned. I can't see who would stand to gain from burning a building down because it has no insurance. If it was arson, it seems more like a crime targeted at the owner, in which case the arsonist would likely not care whether the building has insurance or not. If it was arson, I sure hope they find out who did it.

Honey, there was no insurance. But it looks like a community fund is in the works. That's good. Why no insurance though? Excuse me for being a novice in these regards, but is it common for businesses not to have insurance as homeowners do?

Will they be able to rebuild with insurance money?
  17. They were just there for me before lunch, and now they're missing. Oh well, I didn't use them anyway. The rendering issue was targeted for 3.0, then 3.5, and now who knows. I haven't looked up the bug in a while now. EDIT: I should have checked the Error Console before posting. I am getting a JavaScript error on the Reply page which I am assuming is preventing the formatting box from displaying.
  18. Sorry, but I don't see BRT running out Detroit past old town Rocky River or maybe to around the high school. I do like your ideas for Public Square.
  19. Firefox 3.5.5 Firefox still has the problem rendering large numbers of images within a table cell, though, so for large photo threads, I fall back to IE 7 or IE 8. EDIT: Ha, I see confiteordeo posted the same Firefox complaint as me while I was writing my post. EDIT EDIT: Where did the formatting tools and smileys go on the Reply page?
  20. You mean other than that vantage point that makes it look JUST LIKE Legacy Village.
  21. Well I would HOPE a media company would switch to the "latest" (or semi-latest, in this case) browser. But in the real world, things don't work out that easily! Yeah, but he said they "were a media company". Maybe if they still were, they would have upgraded to IE 8 by now! :)
  22. There are plenty of reasons. Number one among them, the corporation you work at doesn't allow it. My company (a Fortune 500 company) still ONLY supports IE 6 for our web applications. Besides, I have IE 8 on my desktops at home and at work, IE 7 on my laptop, and I run IE 6 in a VM for testing (I already got reprimanded once a couple years ago for developing/testing in Firefox on my own machine and having something break in IE 6 after I passed it along), and (as much as it pains me to say it) IE 6 is by far the most stable. IE 8 completely crashes about 20% of the time I close a tab. If people are looking to upgrade, I suggest Firefox, Chrome, or Safari (I'm a WebKit fan myself), not an IE upgrade. That said, IE 6 is still the standard in a similar way that Windows XP is. Vista didn't offer enough new features, had enough problems, and wasn't enough widely adopted to become the "standard". That's what I feel has happened with IE 7 and IE 8. They seem to be rushed attempts to compete with Firefox.
  23. I much prefer the old look and feel. Some of it is undoubtedly because I got used to it, but something about the new look feels like it's straining my eyes more. It seems that the information you want most of the time doesn't stick out, and some information you rarely will want stick out too much. It slows down the user's experience from the mind's perspective. I think the colors are beautiful, but some of the font sizes and styles (bold, etc.) need to be modified to make it more usable. The bold thread started on the unread posts page is a perfect example. That information is one of the least useful bits on the row, and surely far less useful than the thread name. It should not be bold, small, and possibly even a lighter color (gray) so it is there in the rare case you want to see it, and out of your way for the majority of the time when you don't care.
  24. The ramp is at least 10 feet lower than the grassy bluff though.
