Moral Dilemma-What if anything should I do?
I can pretty much guarantee the parents know about it. I have seen many graduation parties in my day (almost every relative and in-law I have is a teacher, let alone ones for people I know) and I have seen alcohol served at some. In pretty much every case the parents were proudly serving it. Too many parents want to be "friends" to their kids first, and "parents" second. Personally, I would notify the police and let them take care of it (after all, it's their job and we have laws for a reason, to prevent the situation you're afraid of happening).

Cleveland: What style is this?
Looks kind of like a Craftsman Bungalow, although the roof is a little more pitched than most I've seen.

That's in Randall Park Mall so I'm not sure if they're still open.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
For the most part I thought Mo played just awful, turning the ball over and missing shots he hit all season long. But he did hit some clutch shots down the stretch that kept Orlando from pulling away. Maybe that will get him going.

Pet Peeves!
Ranting and and uptight are not opposites. They aren't the same thing either. Actually, I don't think they're very much related.

I'm sure most ravines near a city are that way. Doesn't mean they aren't fun to explore. If you are more comfortable staying on top, though, the dirt path parallel to North Park just outside the tree line goes right by where this mysterious bridge-type thing is.

Shouldn't you be out in the ravine finding that bridge for me! :)

I'm pretty sure I had heard someone say once that there used to be a bridge there, but I'm not sure. Either way, it sure looks like on the North Park side there is an approach to what used to be a bridge which perfectly lines up with a row of a few footers. Here's the area I'm talking about, specifically the "missing" part of North Park (which is not very far, maybe a few hundred feet) west of Eaton. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=shaker+heights,+oh&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=48.641855,114.257812&ie=UTF8&ll=41.484108,-81.553391&spn=0.002829,0.006974&t=h&z=18

I am used to those streets, but it definitely took a while. The least confusing of those is probably North Park, because I'm assuming it connected (right by where it makes a sharp curve to the right and goes over the creek and becomes Park Dr.). I have gone down to the end of the easter segment of North Park and tried to figure out if there are any remnants of pavement or grading where it used to connect but I couldn't see any. It seems as if some of the houses may have been on this missing segment (if it ever even existed) and then their driveways were moved to the alley (North Park Place I believe it's called) at the top of the hill. Byron Rd. in Shaker Heights, and Wimbledon Rd. in Shaker Heights/Beachwood both behave exactly the same way. Both are cut off my the ovals, and continue through the Y following an overall southwest to northeast pattern. I never pay attention to the names of the streets in that area. I just "know where I'm at" from going through there a lot. The one street that's always intrigued me is something that connected North Park to Fairhill in the vicinity of where Kemper meets Fairhill (or just east of there). If you take a walk through the paths in and around the ravine, you can see the footers of an old, large bridge that used to be there, and it seems that a road must have connected the two at some point. Do you have any idea what it was called and when it was built and torn down?

Hmm now I'm lost. Do you mean that Moreland Boulevard was Van Aken, or that it ran into Van Aken from somewhere else? Also, when did N. Woodland change to Larchmere/Fairmount and S. Woodland to Buckeye? I assume that way back in the day, N. Woodland ran from Pepper Pike (where parts of it still exist) down Fairmount to Larchmere, then onto what is now just called Woodland. S. Woodland turns into Buckeye, which in turn meets up with Woodland, so I am guessing it was called Woodland from that point into downtown, and N. and S. Woodland for everything east of there.

Moreland was renamed to Van Aken? I thought Moreland always ran in the same path it does now? (Straight north/south through the square.)

We have to take 2 of the next 3, with 2 of those games being played in Orlando. I think we can do it, but it's going to be very tough.

We didn't exactly shut down the outside shooters in the first half, they were just missing their shots. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between good defense and bad offense, and vice versa. I thought we played decent defense the whole game. They just didn't make much the first half and were unconscious the second half.

I think that it's more of a reflection of who feels compelled to actually write a post. Just like when having a voluntary survey, you usually only get responses from people who feel passionately about the subject one way or another.

Also, the aerial shots were very nice. I started watching an hour into the game on Tivo delay, so I fast forwarded all the extra commentary. Still caught up by the start of the 4th quarter thanks to the shot clock delay.

I think this series will simply come down to who's hitting their outside shots. When Orlando wasn't, it made our defense look good. When they started hitting, and we couldn't (Mo, Delonte, and Z were all bad, and Wally shouldn't have seen the floor), it spelled trouble. The only reason it was even close was because Lebron was amazing.

OK, it is on WVIZ on Sunday, sort of. You need an antenna for it, since it's on 25.3. Sunday, May 24 — 07:00pm 25.3 - WVIZ/PBS World

WVIZ does not seem to be showing this, but WEAO is. I just set it to record on my DirecTV receiver over the internet. :)

America and Genocide
In my public high school, we spent a lot of time on Europe, the Far East, Central America, and US History, but little to no time on the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Australia. And in regards to the US, what we learned about the Indians was basically portrayed in the light of "winning a game" to get the land we wanted. We learned nothing about the Filipino-American War. Also, we didn't learn about anything beyond World War II (not even the Korean War) because the textbooks we used were printed in the 1950s.

America and Genocide
So are you for reparations payments for all ancestors of slaves?

America and Genocide
I personally don't think there should be a guilt trip. But I do think we should learn about them more, just like we learn about other ancient genocides, wars, etc. I think schools are too afraid that it would cause people to have a guilt trip.
