Airline Industry News and Discussion
You tell 'em, DanB. Who cares if we fall behind in transportation, education, and technology. We're still Americans, which right there just automatically makes us superior to everyone! All that other junk makes you an elitist anyways.

Case Western Reserve University Spartans Athletics Discussion
And somehow, this week Case is #15, and the previous #15 team (Cortland State) is now #14. I have brought up the discussion of this on d3boards.com.

Case Western Reserve University Spartans Athletics Discussion
By the way, if it makes anyone's decision easier on whether to come, they had Great Lakes beer (including Eliot Ness and Burning River) at the last tailgate. :)

I'll be there (game and tailgate both) as well. JeffreyT, were you at the tailgate for the Rochester game?

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
This ratings crap is garbage. If a kid is smart and has a good influence at home, he or she will excel pretty much anywhere. There are ample opportunities in the CMSD just as there are in suburban districts. The ratings simply reflect the socioeconomics of the students, and that has little bearing on how your student will do.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
You're definitely not the only one. I posted in some other thread about this (I think it might have been the one about Lake Erie as our Water Resource). Not only do we have beautiful summer weather, but there's nothing quite like the feeling you get when fall begins and the leaves turn colors and you get the crisp, cool, fall-smelling air and it almost seems like you can feel Halloween and Thanksgiving. Then comes the warm, comfortable feeling you get watching the first snowfall out your window. And of course, not much beats the excitement of that first 75 degree and sunny day of Spring when the Indians season is just starting. Yes, for all the whining people do, nothing beats having four seasons (although I do concede that winter could be a bit shorter).

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
What should he have done? Given away taxes to Eaton and then had to face every other company asking for the same thing? Given them prime lakefront land for a pice of sh1t office park? As I said before, screw Eaton, Beachwood can have their 500 employees and suburb-loving management. Some day I'm sure they'll all regret moving to a fad of a suburb.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
At that point, if automobile traffic is even still the main mode of transportation, they could build the new bridge while the old one is still there, similar to how they did the I-271 bridge over the Cuyahoga River Valley. It really does make a lot of sense to reduce the number of bridges and take the freeway out of the middle (or close to it) of downtown.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
It makes too much sense for ODOT, KJP. Seriously, I think it's a GREAT idea. It would save a lot of money and would only cost drivers 0.8 miles.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
Yeah, they teach us that in conservative training school! My signature is a joke, I'm happy people take public transportation!!! I never asked a question, so why would you feel you need to answer one? Sorry, I meant to say "to address your ignorant statement..." Also, straw man arguments don't work around here. I never said anything about whether or not you were happy OTHER people take public transportation. I was talking about your implication that those who do have extra time to spare. You should work on your reasoning abilities and give the Shift-1 combination a rest. Back to Megabus... Why is there no Cleveland/Columbus connection to complete the 3-C route? It seems like a logical route for them to have with no competition from a train, and with obvious demand (at least according to ODOT).

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
Umm yes there is. TIME! Time is money! Let me try it in a way that Mayday won't consider ignorant. Many on OU who promote public transportation do not feel that time is money. It appears their time is not important to them as they will wait extremely long times to catch trains and buses to get to their destination. Really not bitter about public transportation. It is just an opinion I have after reading many comments on many threads on UO. Just appears to me that their time doesn't mean that much to them if they will wait that long for buses, trains, or connections. I'm not judging them. Just an observation. Ahh, yes, the old Republican tactic...make a thinly veiled dig at someone or something, and when they call you out on it, act like you didn't mean it. (Hint: Your signature kind of gives you away.) I know what you're referring to (in another thread where you made a similarly ingorant and arrogant comment and MayDay called you a smug prick). Anyways, on to answering your question... In cities with good public transportation system (like Washington DC or New York City, or most European cities) public transportation is not only cheaper to use, it is also time saving. Getting around NYC by subway is much faster than by car. If more people rode public transportation in cities where public transportation is not faster, then you would see the systems improve, lead times shorten, and the time savings of driven lessened, eliminated, or even reversed.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I'll add a second for Brennan's Colony. In addition to the bar food being top notch (best onion rings I've ever had and a great burger), it is pretty reasonable. And the best part...when you're in the mood to spend a little more, they have a great specials menu that changes every night with items in the $15 - $25 range that are also excellent, and surprisingly upscale and gourmet. On the west side, Sokolowski's is of course one of my favorites, but for a place not yet mentioned, I also love the Harp.

A little cheesy? I think that 4 of the port-o-potties holding up the Cadillac would look nicer than those columns.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Renting in a gentrifying neighborhood is tough...people do get forced out. But if you own in a gentrifying neighborhood, it is your lucky day. You are basically making money without doing anything...sometimes in the order of around $100k...as neighborhood house values go up. Especially if one has been paying a mortgage for years (if they're lifers, they should have the house piad for) then they can either try to be part of a nice community, or sell their property and make a large sum of money. Gentrification is a tough issue, but you can't always fault people who are trying to make things nicer. It's tough on both sides, but just because an area has fallen into poverty doesn't mean it always has to stay that way. I do agree that their should be some assistance for homeowners who have legitimate reasons they are unable to fix up their property, though.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
It seems (especially with the design shown on the previous page) that Eaton really had the chance to do something special and make an even bigger name for themselves, especially in Stark's rendering. Think about the publicity they would have received from that building. Now think of the publicity they will get from a suburban campus...absolutely none. Good for them and their stupid as$es. (Yeah, it pisses me off...a lot.)

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Same here...although I guess at the very least it means that if the convention center is placed at the Tower City site, Forest City will hopefully get less than $40 million for the property, thus taking less of the taxpayers' money.

All it really says is "Yeah, we're not in the heart of it all, but that's because we got cheap land out here!"

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
Huge disagreement here. Most large campuses I have been to are mainly call centers with mainly jobs that pay not much more than minimum wage.

UO Cleveland Happy Hour discussion
I think it's a great idea...and I think a semi-fixed "schedule" would help because it would be easier for people to plan in advance to go.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
If they choose a location (such as Grayton Rd.) that actually is still in Cleveland. There are other locations (Aerospace Parkway) which are Brookpark which may appeal to them more by the same logic (close to I-71 and I-480 and the airport). If they didn't want to be downtown due to Cleveland's refusal to change their tax laws, why would they choose to be in Cleveland near the airport when they could be not in Cleveland right by the airport?
