Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
My point, exactly, from earlier on this page. Downtown is losing 550 out of ~120k workers. These workers most likely bolted at 5pm anyways.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
Typical east-sider. Wouldn't know the west side from Toledo. Grayton Rd. and I-480 is further from downtown than Chagrin Highlands by distance. I wonder if this move would prompt an extension to the Blue Line? I doubt it, though, seeing how important transit seemed to be to Eaton in their choice to leave FEB.

Case Western Reserve University Spartans Athletics Discussion
^I was at the game. Case really dominated Rochester, much more so than the stats may indicate (although the final score does indicate this). Case's special teams were far better than Rochester, as well as Case's backup QB (Baum) being far better than Rochester's starter. Next week should be a great game at Oberlin. Oberlin gave #14 Washington and Jefferson a battle in their first game.

Except that they stumbled through the name and called it Soklowski's. I had just been there the day before, but it made me want to go right back! Those pierogies are amazing.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
I agree (if agreeing to something stated as a question is even possible)...Cleveland doesn't seem to be losing out monetarily (they also don't have to provide services, police, fire, etc to Eaton this way). What Cleveland is losing is about 550 people coming downtown that apparently seem to only be interested in driving in their car, parking in a secure campus lot, then driving home. So in short, I don't see Cleveland really losing anything here. Screw Eaton, Beachwood can have them.

^Actually, I believe that I-280 icon is a slightly modified capture of a section of the highway in Cupertino, CA.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
Wha-wha-whaaaat! C'mon MTS, what could possibly be done with that to make it look good? We're not talking about repainting a kitchen to liven it up or rearranging the furniture in a room here. This thing looks so incredibly out of place I can't imagine that any amount of work could be done around it to make it look nice. Don't get me wrong, I'm always glad to have another business downtown and something to bring more people and $$$ to the area. But it doesn't change the fact that this is extremely ugly.

I saw it Saturday...it really is awful.

Cleveland: Jewish Community Federation
What keeps getting me is that it's not just a lack of research. They did research and found that an overwhelming plurality (44% to 25%) and nearly a majority wanted the HQ to stay downtown. How could they ignore that? Also, the lack of a temple is seriously disappointing. I see that as one of the only reason we do not see many more young Jewish people wanting to move downtown.

Cleveland: Jewish Community Federation
I agree with everything you said McCleveland, but this statement reminded me that I wanted to point out a fact that the JCF seems to be missing and many people neglect. 75% of Jewish people in Cleveland live east of downtown. This means that 1 in 4 live downtown or west of downtown. I think they completely neglected this fact when they considered the move. 50% of the Jewish people live in Beachwood or points east. The ones that live west of Beachwood (mostly Cleveland Heights) would probably have similar commutes to either location (and in rebuttal to the stupid "reducing the carbon footprint" comment in one of the articles I saw, many, many more could take public transportation downtown than to Beachwood). So 50% of the Jewish people would probably have an easier (or at least not any harder) commute to downtown than they do now, and the rest have a fairly normal commute (Beachwood and Solon to downtown is not outrageous like they make it seem). However, now the Jewish people that live on the west side have a very long commute to Beachwood, and one that is extremely inconvenient to make without a car and freeways.

Cleveland: Jewish Community Federation
Per the article I posted yesterday: What is not surprising is that more Jews cared or were not undecided that non-Jews. What is surprising is how many more members of both the Jewish community and of the general community thought the Federation should stay downtown, and that the Jewish people felt this way even more strongly than the non-Jewish people polled. It will be interesting to see how this (IMO bad) choice affects how much support they receive. I am hoping they are keeping the downtown building in case (or when) they realize moving the headquarters out of downtown was a huge mistake.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^Who says carrying cash will save you money? Yes, the two amounts have gone up by different percentages, but for most people who ride enough to make the monthly pass worth it, it will still be cheaper, just a little less cheaper.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I don't think the guy realized that small town charm and city life (especially when that city life is in a city neighborhood other than the CBD) have MUCH more in common than suburban life.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
You want suburban life, buddy, you got it. That's what the new Sheetz gas station is. A suburban sprawling gas station fueling suburban sprawl vehicles. The art gallery was the city-life greeting you at the corner. How do people not realize the difference here?

I went to exactly one game in my four years at Case (1998-2002). Last year I went to three. The team is obviously much better and the new stadium is a great place to watch a game.

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
jam40jeff replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI would say the walking score only applies to areas that are already deemed walkable. In other words, it doesn't determine how easy or safe it is to walk around, simply what variety of things there are to walk in a short distance assuming those distances are feasible (in other words, you don't have to walk a half mile out opf the way and wait to cross a 9-lane highway without using sidewalks the entire route). Thus, if the walks are not feasible, the whole assumption goes out the window and the walk score is invalid.

Euclid, Ohio
True, I always forget that Collinwood had a large Italian population.

Euclid, Ohio
It seems that many ethnic groups follow main roads out of town. The Italians seemed to head down Mayfield Rd. from Little Italy to Mayfield and now into Chesterland. I really don't know how some got to Wickliffe, maybe they got lost. The Eastern Europeans seem to have headed from the St. Vitus area up St. Clair to Collinwood to Euclid (and also some to Wickliffe). The Jewish people went from the east side of Cleveland down Cedar Rd. to Cleveland Heights then University Heights and Beachwood (and now are apparently abandoning Cedar Rd. altogether and heading for Orange and Solon). Irish and Germans seem to me to be west siders that headed down Lorain. I'm rambling now. What does this have to do with Euclid? Not much. But I'm bored at work. And a Jeff-styled post will have to suffice until the real Jeffrey gives us his graphical-styled post.

I am coming this weekend to look at apartments and really need help (Cleveland)
Just to clarify as it confused me, Belvoir Pet Hospital is in South Euclid, on Mayfield Rd. near Belvoir.
