  1. Shakerrrr Square?
  2. When you say new, do you mean new building or newly renovated (and may I ask what your motivation is for new, there are some very nicely maintained and appointed older apartments around as well)? Based on what you're looking for, if you are that set on new and it seems you spend a lot of time around the Cleveland Heights area, there are some newer condo complexes around. I am not sure if any of them have rental units, however.
  3. ^Disagree. The owner(s)/corporation sees a large chunk of the revenue, which for a national chain, goes to the headquarters, nearly always in another city (or state). For a local restaurant, this profit stays in the community and is most likely pumped back into the local economy by the owner when he/she spends it.
  4. Doesn't look good: http://cincinnati.e-asp.net/Nis4/bbbreportaccbuscontent.asp?ID=1&ComID=0292000010004668
  5. Maybe the government needs to make it harder to build in the suburbs then. Plowing over more farms needlessly is quite harmful to the country, but the companies don't see any cost in it. I equate it to pollution, it would be a heck of a lot easier on companies if we allowed them to pollute, but we have laws and fines prohibiting this destructive behavior. When will we realize sprawl is just as destructive (if not more so, as extra pollution is but one of the many ill effects is has)?

    I'm in.
  7. ^Or make the roads bike roads and put a car lane on the side.
  8. Did I just witness an Urban Ohio wet dream? EDIT: I hope you're right and we all can have them too!
  9. ^One word...Viagra.
  10. My guess is that ODOT sent out a crew of drivers to muck things up in order that the talk of closing off the streets through Public Square be squelched.
  11. I really like what they did with the exterior of this building.
  12. My point was that since less people drive in NYC, then the per capita spending on accidents is bound to be lower. Thus, the one logical approach not mentioned would be to reduce the number of drivers rather than attempt to increase the safety of roads (which costs a lot more and is most likely very difficult to do).

That's sounds good, and I feel the need to do the same with what Hillary stands for. After all, we're Democrats and we're only gonna have one choice when it comes November time (I'm surely not voting for McCain).

    :-P
  15. I did check out the gallery you provided, and I thought it looked like your typical towers-in-the-park public housing project, especially the pictures I didn't copy above (oops). :) I don't really understand why you would be proud of this or defensive about it. And if my criticisms, after viewing your photo thread and reading up on what Lafayette Park is, are hastily contrived, then provide me some info to change my opinion. Telling me I'm spouting off isn't going to cut it. Cut through the insults and jokes and give us some substance if you believe this is a nice neighborhood. Is it mixed-use? More walkable than the pictures indicate? How is there any street presence when the townhouses are separated from the road by large setbacks and parking lots? What is it that makes this a nice urban neighborhood?
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette_Park%2C_Detroit Check out the gallery, especially the strip plaza with plenty of parking. It's a 60s urban renewal project. Boy am I glad Cleveland doesn't have a comparable neighborhood.
  17. Go for it! They shut off the gas line! The pope can be an admin if something happens to you! :-P That's amazing (and great) that noone was injured.
  18. These apply only within the square (and I'm including only US routes): Ontario from north - no US routes Ontario from south - US 422 Superior from east - US 322, US 20, US 6 Superior from west - US 20, US 6 I don't like that the US routes are a problem...if they don't want them going around the square, then lets: Route US 20 and US 6 up E. 9th to the shoreway (where they end up anyways west of W. 25th St.). Terminate US 322 at E. 9th St. Run US 422 up E. 9th St. and terminate it at the Superior/E. 9th St. intersection. I'm sure it'd be easy to convince ODOT of this, right? :)
  19. The public services are horrendous in Texas.
  20. I agree with MTS here, I think the marketing is horrible. Many people I've talked to (that love the Cedar-Lee by the way) didn't even know we had a film festival.
  21. EDIT: OK that made no sense, there can't be a "southern quadrant". I meant "from the south to Superior". EDIT-EDIT: And so my brain is really farting today, and I can't even type the edit in the correct box, sorry. I'll just stop posting now.
  22. So is Ontario in the southern quadrant (US 422).

You and everyone else in the world...except Mark.
  24. And the nitwit thinks that this is because the roads are safer in NYC than in Columbus?
