  1. Very inappropriate time to use the smiley with the tongue out.
  2. That'll give me a nice mental picture when I see one of your posts tomorrow.

They are both wealthy African-American men. That guarantees they have had pretty much the exact same life experiences, doesn't it? </sarcasm> for those that haven't caught on yet
  4. [Attempting to keep this civil] I stated I have nothing against Ashtabula. I am just giving my honest to goodness opinion from what I have experienced. I am judging by the fact that (1) there weren't near as many storefronts or old buildings as I expected for a city of Ashtabula's size, and (2) the fact that the vacancy rate was astounding. Of course I realize that based on the time of day there may or may not be more people around. But I would challenge any Urban Ohioan familiar with downtown Cleveland to take a trip to downtown Ashtabula to make a comparison to see how laughably ignorant that statement was.

while looking over 12 lanes of highway...
  6. That is the Harbor, which is smaller than downtown but, believe it or not, IMO more functioning. Downtown is kind of hard to find...it's south of US 20, I believe it's actually SR 84 that it's on, Main St.
  7. ^Chili Peppers EDIT: Never tried it, but have heard a few people rave about it.

    That's why I didn't take the challenge.
  9. I was at the Army Navy Store (long story) in December. It was about 6 pm on a Tuesday, and there weren't many signs of life. I drove the entire length of Main Street to check out the downtown as I hadn't been there in a while. I saw a lot of unused buildings and a couple pubs/cafes, but not much else. When I went to parallel park in front of the store, there may have been 1 or 2 other cars in sight parked on the same side of the street. I'm not trying to bash Ashtabula, I wish it all the best, but from what I experienced it felt like a ghost town.
  10. Actually, don't they have these under Euclid Avenue going to the E. 93rd parking garage?
  11. For those too lazy to visit the website: ANATOLIA CAFE IS CLOSED NOW. WE WILL BE OPEN ON NEW LOCATION MARCH 1ST 2008. NEW LOCATION; 2270 LEE RD CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH 44118 (216) 321 4400 [sic on the all caps] I think Lee Rd. now has one of the better assortments of food establishments in a concentrated area in the Cleveland area. And any area that keeps a Phoenix Coffee and pushes out a Starbucks and Arabica is doing right by me. :) Anyways, looking forward to Anatolia opening up A LOT.
  12. It's gritty and urban for a smaller city. I like what I've seen of it...but their economy is in the crapper.
  13. I actually liked their food...couldn't understand how people could like Chipotle's tasteless crap better than Que Tal. Maybe it's just a requirement to like Que Tal if you went to CWRU, though.
  14. I'm always confused by why people think there is no transit around the Cedar-Lee area. I know people who live in Ohio City and think it's great they're only 3/4 mile to the rapid. The apartments at Meadowbrook/Silsby are about .85 miles to the Lee Rd. Green Line station (and hop on the Lee Rd. bus if you don't want to walk/bike there), and about a tenth of a mile to the 32X Cedar Rd. stop. I said it's not Shaker Square with the rapid running through the middle of it, but it surely isn't devoid of public transit either. I would be willing to say it has better transit access than the Gold Coast (cue KJP to bash me on this one). Really, you can't go wrong in any of the areas mentioned. The best suggestion is to visit a few of them and see what they feel like to you.
  15. I've been to Ashtabula's downtown, and Main Street is absolutely blighted. It is one of the more ghost-town-like downtowns that I have seen. The Harbor, on the other hand, seems to have been rejuvenated a bit of late, and Walnut Beach is nice. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Ashtabula is in as bad of shape as the article claims (it's no Conneaut), but its downtown is severely struggling.
  16. ^As well as the CWRU library.

Reminds me of Rt. 161 in Columbus.
  18. Not that you should have been forced to play basketball, but you should have at least given your height to me.
  19. Very good analysis...the only point I disagree on is the transit around Cedar-Lee. While not on par with Shaker Square or Ohio City (although I believe there is a greater range of services at Cedar-Lee than Shaker Square) you are still right on a major bus line which terminates a couple miles away at the red line rapid in University Circle. And if walking is OK, you're a little less than a mile walk through a very nice neighborhood to the Lee Rd. Green Line rapid stop.
  20. It would make sense, but minor league locations seem to rarely make much sense. I'd like to see them in Ohio, though, so hopefully it'll actually happen.
  21. Check your PM, I figure the rest of the forum may not be interested. :) EDIT: Let me know if you didn't receive the PM, I haven't received replies to my last couple and nothing is showing in my Outbox (don't know if that is meant for Sent or Pending) so I'm not sure if my PM's are working correctly.
  22. I still can't figure out what people were thinking in the 60s and 70s, no matter how high they may have been.
  23. My fiance's dad went to St. John back in the day, led their first ever baseball team to the state championship his sophomore year. I hear their sports have taken a tumble in recent years, kind of like the H/S I went to, sad to see. (By the way, I hear all about Urban Meyer and how he went to St. John every time his face is on TV when I'm over their house. :) )
  24. Where's your 2 cents? :-P
