Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
My bad...I misread/had a brain fart/both A and B/etc. Yeah, legally it would afford protection; employment-wise, not so much so. Ditto. I can see your point, but I think this corner is important enough that it needs to be one of the catalysts that exemplifies the ECP's advantages, not a result from the project's advantages.

another detroiter hoping to move to cleveland
You also may want to look at the Cedar-Lee area...it has most of the things you are looking for (including THE indie movie theater in Cleveland). There is a condo building proposed, but it is on hold until they get enough presales...but there are other houses/apartments in the area. The only downside is that the rapid is a mile walk. You could take the 32 to the University rapid station, however. Lee Rd. has many restaurants (at different price points), bars, a CVS, a grocery store, Phoenix Coffee, and the main CH library (which was recently expended). If you can afford it, south of Cedar Rd. would give you a nice central location and better housing stock to choose from. Also, I think Ohio City may be your best bet to match you wish list. ^The post specifically said "movie theater", which is what made Cedar-Lee come to mind for me.

The 1st Amendment wouldn't guarantee you keep your job, just that you don't go to jail. Keeping your opinions to yourself is often a wise choice when the workplace is involved. ^In a way, I'm glad to hear this. I was worried K&D might be stretching themselves thin. I just hope someone else has plans for this building. Maybe Eli Mann can tie it to the CAC, or is he not involved with that anymore?

Ignore feature
I figured as much. :) Seriously, though, I have two forumers in mind that probably laugh at being ignored. :-P

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Did you ever notice that it seems like Republicans love public funding for things they want (roads, funding for suburbs, etc.) but then they cry Socialism whenever that public funding might go to something they won't use?

What do you have a Nikon phone? That came out pretty good.

I'm being ignored by no one, so obviously this feature isn't working right.

Did you participate in a varsity sports in High School or College?
High school: basketball, golf, and tennis. Our basketball team (Wickliffe) was good back then (ranked 3rd in state in D4 my junior year, and somewhere in top 10 my senior year) but you sure wouldn't know it by their teams now. We always found a way to bow out early in the tournament, being in the toughest sectional in the state (Chanel and VASJ won virtually every state tournament in the 90s and we always had to play them in one of the first couple rounds, lost to VASJ by 1 my senior year). Always into golf, thought I might turn out to be very good, but proved I was too much of a head case to be consistent (by putting holes in my bag with my clubs after bad shots). This usually led to a good round being ruined by one hole (ever seen Tin Cup?) I still play very occasionally and find that I'm a lot better if I just give it up for a year and come back to it. Kinda reduces the thinking. Tennis, mostly recreational since I hurt my elbow throwing curveballs by 9th grade and although being a solid shortstop with a very good arm, I couldn't hit well enough to make up for it. My brother also played tennis recreationally, but quickly became a very good player, ended up as one of the best players our HS ever saw, set a D3 record for consecutive wins in college, and is now a teaching pro...so I guess that worked out for him a little better than me, always stuck at second singles behind my younger brother (and now extremely lucky if I don't get double-bageled by him). EDIT: Kind of wish sometimes I would have played some football (coaches wanted me to be a receiver...quick/fast with good hands) but I was afraid of being snapped in half (6', 145 lbs.) and the weight room wasn't my thing. College: Golf (and one day of basketball). My college story is pretty weak athletically...I played two years of golf (freshman and senior) and quit right before the end of the season both times...just got sick of it...too much time. Same with basketball (especially since golf was still in season when it started)...I made the team my freshman year and quit the next day when I saw the schedule. I wanted to play on my own time. I still played about 5 times a week all throughout college, just not organized...the rec center and parks were more my thing.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
As far as Little Italy restaurants go, I ate at Guarino's the other day and loved it. If you like pasta (as I do), there's is IMO the best on Mayfield Rd. I also like the atmosphere and it's reasonably priced, which cannot be said for many of the restaurants there.

Cleveland: Retail News
In the spirit of MayDay... I definitely DIDN'T make it to Banyan Tree on Sunday, and bought absolutely NO fabulous home accessories, and my fiance assuredly did NOT absolutely love the store, and am glad I shopped at WalMart INSTEAD of shopping at Banyan Tree.

Best Cars For City Dwellers
That's ridiculous, so wanting a car that CAN go over 25 mph means I want a crotch rocket? No, if I wanted an urban car, I would probably want to be able to safely get over the Lorain-Carnegie bridge without getting run over. 25 mph would be a hazard on that thing. The point of being an urbanite with a car is so that you could get to places that public transit couldn't, and at a TOP SPEED of 25 mph, it sure wouldn't do much more for you than a bike.

Ohio's Grandest City
Case is a great school for many a thing, but if urban planning is yours, then CSU is about top of the crop. And it's downtown! :) And if you like the area around Case a lot, it'll be a short Gray Line ride away here soon.

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
Many, many people vote to shop at Wal-Mart and eat McDonald's and Applebee's as well. I think it says more about the sad state of corporate control in America. EDIT: I'm not from Cincinnati but I will say that it kicks the arse of both Indianapolis and Columbus.

Best Cars For City Dwellers
SOME limitations? I can run faster than the darn thing. Why were electric cars so much better 10 years ago than they are today? EDIT: MayDay, it looks like you increased demand for CityWheels, the price went up to $9/hour already!

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Agreed, KJP. I like Delonte and think he will fit in well here. Quick, a good passer, and can score if he needs to. Everyone always talks about how a good point guard doesn't need to score, but he's still gotta be somewhat of a threat to score, otherwise it's 4 on 5 (think Eric Snow...sorry Eric, you're a great guy and hometown and everything, but you gotta be able to score). My feelings on the guys we gave up: The biggest addition by subtraction, though, is Larry Hughes. And I am not saying this to be a Larry Hughes basher like everyone else. The guy has some talent and could be decent on another team...he just was an awful fit for a team with Lebron on it. He doesn't move well without the ball, he doesn't pass well, he gambles too much on defense (it's either a steal or they get an advantage and then we usually pick up a foul), and on offense the only time he's productive is when he decides it's time for the Larry Hughes Show (you know, when you get that feeling that somehow he's gonna force a shot up sooner or later as he's dribbling around the 3 point arc). No doubt the guy is a decent scorer, but on a team with Lebron James, there are many other things we need other than a one-on-on type player. Also addition by subtraction is Donyell. He's been awful this year. Is it just me or does it seem like he throws up a brick/turns it over every time he drives? He really should just hang out under the basket or stand outside and attempt to hit a 3 every once in a while. Ira Newble...self-explanatory. Ditto Cedric Simmons. Drew Gooden...I don't know what to think of this guy. He looks like an All-Star sometimes (not some games, sometimes, like he'll be good for half the second quarter, or for 5 posessions in a row in the 3rd, etc)...and other times, he looks like his mind is back on the Amish farm he found his beard at. Is he bipolar or something? I don't think he was as big of a loss as people think. And it's too bad, because he has a lot of skill (great right hand half hook, pretty good shot from 18 feet, can throw it down hard, unlike Z) but he just goes into extended funks way too much to be reliable. Shannon Brown...interesting one here. I always thought this guy would turn out to be decent...and sometimes when given the chance he would look OK...but he always seemed to find a way to have enough bad games to put himself back on the bench...that and he likes to dribble way too much. But I think he could turn out to be a better player than he was here, maybe he just needs to find some confidence. All in all, I'm very happy with this trade. I think Wally World will fit in here. Delonte will too. Ben Wallace will be nice to have around for all those times when you're screaming at the TV "quit playing like such a wimp Z!" And Joe Smith is a respectable big man well. Especially when Anderson comes back, we will have a nice, deep frontcourt.

Creative meeting space in Cleveland
Wow, this thread is moving fast. I was going to suggest Tyler Village before, as well. I don't know if they have something, but it's a possibility. Maybe you could ask weepinwillow.

Creative meeting space in Cleveland
I think what is being said is that the CVB doesn't cater to smaller, more creative companies, which consist of disproportionately higher amounts of various types of minorities. Of course, this doesn't mean there aren't non-minorities in these groups...just not at the dominating rate of the large corporations which the CVB caters to.

Cleveland: Intramural Basketball Leagues
I used to belong to the CH rec and there were some decent pickup games there at times, real spotty though. I never played in the league there. Yeah, we were midgets, but we could run the floor and shoot (most of the time, that's the problem with shooting outside).

Cleveland: Intramural Basketball Leagues
^^Also, I meant to ask where you play in the mornings? Is it just an informal open gym type setting, or an organized group of guys that get together and play?
