  1. So it says MMDXXVII on the front? :-P
  2. 50 ft. height restriction in a part of NYC? I never would have guessed that.
  3. Yeah I caught that too. They must be trying to get people to perceive it as an island of suburbia in the middle of the sea of cityfolk. Maybe they want more customers to come in off the interstate.
  4. Which one would be coming from the Tremont neighborhood, though? Can you honestly see any westside neighborhood eatery plopping themselves down on an outlot surrounded by a sea of parking and next to an Applebee's?
  5. He may have been referring to their surface lots.
  6. There's a thread on gay marriage in the Politics forum. Back on topic please. :) I knew what you meant though. ;)
  7. It seems bigger, and on top of that it's much brighter green and brightly lit. I know it's a matter of taste, but they're REALLY ugly signs and if you disagree with me then you're wrong!!!!!! :whip:
  8. Should be an easy victory for UO then! :)
  9. Now that I think about it, I did notice the sign while walking down Euclid a couple times last week, but it didn't stick out as much as last night when I went through there by car. It looks even worse from the road/bus as it blocks all of the E. 4th streetscape/signage. EDIT: Also, I think they may look worse at night, which would be why last night was the first time I was burning with anger when I saw them (or maybe it was because I'm already fed up with ODOT over the West Shoreway). Anyways, check them out at night some time and see what you think, they are lit up very bright and stick out like a sore thumb.
  10. I'm serious about wanting to puke when I saw them. Massive BRIGHT green interstate signs which overhang the sidewalk. (I think they'd be less obnoxious if they just overhung the road like most signs do.) It really seems to just throw off everything that is nice around the E. 4th intersection.

We were 2nd last year, even though we didn't win the division. The rule was that the division winners automatically made the top 4 (so they had home court advantage) which leaves one slot open for a non-division winner, and not necessarily 4th place. Since we finished 2nd, we got 2nd place. The Bulls had the 3rd best record, but had to settle for 5th as the other two divison winners were then guaranteed 3rd and 4th. Has the rule changed this year so that the seeds are purely by record and the division winners are not guaranteed to be in the top 4?
  12. Sorry, I couldn't...only had my camera phone on me and it was a little too dark for them to come out. Maybe tomorrow (although I'll bet someone else beats me to it). It's really THAT bad. You're gonna puke when you see them. Just walk/ride/drive down Euclid from Public Square, you can't miss them. One is completely blocking the Corner Alley signage.
  13. When did they put up those interstate signs on Euclid (at E. 4th and E. 9th)? Those look HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I think you're thinking of the building at Stokes/Carnegie. This one is another block west and on the opposite side of Carnegie. (Or at least I think you are thinking of the wrong building based on your description of where you almost get into an accident.) I only know this because the building at Stokes and Carnegie catches my eye every time I drive by there. It really is a gem. This building is nice, too, but I'm pretty sure you're talking about the other.
  15. Yeah, the main street in Ohio City (Lorain) is so much nicer than the Ukraine-type streets of Whitman or Jay. Genius.
  16. I completely agree. I think those who think otherwise are viewing the plans under the usual Clevelander pessimism microscope.
  17. wink overload
  18. Community organization can't hurt. The city seems to be trying its hardest to keep this project rolling, but ODOT may be numb to their demands by now. A fresh group of voices might be able to more effectively light a fire under their arses.
  19. Sorry to go off-topic (forgive me MayDay in advance), but your icon, jpop, is priceless. jpop...Delicious.
  20. A little overly pessimistic, don't you think? you mean the outer suburbs will Downtown has been growing at a faster rate than the suburbs as of late. What makes you think, with the recent popularization of New Urbanism and exploding gas prices, that this trend won't continue?
  21. That's ridiculous. For parking to be profitable, there has to be a demand for it. If everything was torn down, it'd be about as useful as building a parking lot in the middle of a cornfield. Of course parking lots are profitable, but only if there is a high demand and low supply of parking. If more people lived downtown and public transit use increased, the demand for parking would be lowered. Couple that with garages in the new developments and a higher demand for space to build and all of a sudden the relative value of these surface lots is diminished. Hopefully, this is the route downtown will take in the future.
  22. No worries...but yes, I was simply saying the reason W. 25th doesn't look busy when the market is very busy (especially Saturday) is because both people that drive and people that take the rapid never have to make it onto W. 25th St. to do their market shopping. I wasn't saying there's anything wrong with the rapid, simply that from the front entrance of the market, you wouldn't see rapid riders making their way to the market. Pretty much what oengus1963 said, except that City Buddha has moved to Coventry.
  23. Let me place that back in context and see if it clears it up a bit.
  24. Many of the people that go to the market never make it to W. 25th St. because of the parking lot and the location of the rapid station.
