Boy, University Circle has taken a lot of hits recently in tandem with some big projects going on.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Although I obviously hope we win the championship, I don't believe we can beat either Houston or Golden State this year. I think you're underestimating the Rockets.

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
Thanks, I missed that 88% figure. My initial thought was that I was surprised how many people stayed in Ohio but not Cleveland, but that figure makes much more sense.

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
How did you get the 39% figure? I thought maybe I missed something, so I went back and read it again, but the only figure I could see was 122/523. The 220 that stayed in Ohio would be 42%, but that's the entire state.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Why? There was one way in and one way out. 20,000 people all trying to get back on the freeway at the same exit was horrendous. I can't imagine what 80,000 people would be like. It was a terrible location for everybody with absolutely nothing else to do around there.

2018 Gubernatorial Election
Who does that sound like? Hint: Trump For a while, I've thought of Kucinich as the Trump of the left.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
First time ever for LeBron in the playoffs. Think I read/heard it was just the 2nd time for any team in the playoffs in the last 20 years. I believe it. First of all, it requires the game to go into OT. But even then, most of the time, there has been at least one lead change during the game. And even in the odd case there hasn't been, only about half the time will the team that never led win the game.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
This is also true, although many people ignore the fact that they pay for these things privately in the suburbs. Owning multiple vehicles is a huge cost (although not a tax) that is necessary if public transportation is not available. Waste collection is often paid for privately in suburban areas rather than through taxes. Many exurbs don't have sewers, so you must pay for a septic tank. Etc. These all give the appearance of lower costs because the taxes are lower, but in reality they are more than made up for by the increased private expenses one must incur.

No, the Browns didn't want him because his girlfriend was "like totally pissed" that he played his XBox the night before instead of going with her to the frat party she was all skanked up for. Hypothetically.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I would say that there are a number of reasons... (1) Urban areas tend to pay for regional services (such as airports, stadiums, etc.) that suburban areas do not (yet still enjoy, hence why I call these people "Collar County Leeches"). (2) Some of these costs may be transferred to homeowners in other ways, such as homeowners association fees. (3) Some of these services may be scaled back or outright eliminated in suburban areas, such as public transportation. (4) A built environment which excludes poverty means the cost per person of these services is divided among people with larger average incomes, thus the tax rate can be lower while the total amount of taxes collected still is relatively high. For Cleveland, #4 is probably one of the biggest factors (although all four do apply). There is so much poverty that the cost of services per person must disproportionately burden those who have a good income in order to be able to cover everyone's cost. If Strongsville or Solon had Cleveland-level poverty, their tax rates would be astronomical.

Huge win! How often do you think a team wins a game without ever leading in regulation?

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
I had to LOL at some of them. Alabama is #1 for one of the indicators because its personal income tax is actually REGRESSIVE! #winning

Electric Cars
And much of the undesirability of being location feet from a highway is the fact that when you walk out of the building there are heavy metal boxes flying by right in front of you at a high rate of speed.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
The bus could take a quick run through Battery Park or something so people could walk through one of the tunnels. EDIT: Nevermind, I was talking about the 22, not the BRT.

When you have kids you'll appreciate when things around you are a little bit easier. Eh, I think people are just lazy. We have a 1, 3, and 5 year old and have taken all 3 of them on trips to a couple big cities, walked all over and even taken the subways with the stoller. Sure, it's tougher than it was 6 years ago, but it's still manageable and fun. Not to mention we go downtown as a family on the rapid sometimes to hang out at public square, walk around, and eat lunch somewhere on a weekend.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Fair enough...it was an emotional post from being dissatisfied with the draft, but I still don't like Mayfield. Yes, Ward is a solid CB, but I think he'd have been available much lower than 4. We could have traded down and still gotten him if that's what we wanted so badly. I really hope Mayfield proves me wrong, but being undersized AND having character issues really worries me. Yes, he's no Johnny Manziel off the field, but will he be able to handle watching a bad team struggle through the season and having Tyrod start over him? I have my doubts. I'd be more willing to give the Browns the benefit of the doubt if they hadn't already been down this path before. Not that this informs my opinion (I actually hadn't read it until just now), but it looks like the guys over at WFNY agree with me. https://waitingfornextyear.com/2018/03/2018-nfl-draft-baker-mayfield-issues/ Also, I've seen a couple people mention Mayfield's mobility, and I know there's more to it than just raw speed, but this guy is not fast and it will show once he's scrambling against NFL defenders. He ran the 40 in 4.84, which is average at best for a QB. Tyrod was 4.51.

Orange Village: Pinecrest
Well that's quite the ringing endorsement. I have to say I'm a little excited to try it out now.

You drove 4+ hours just to eat dinner? I mean I'm guessing it could be good, but I can't imagine doing that for ANY restaurant!
