Cleveland: Population Trends
I'm not promoting anything, but the way these things are measured has real affects, whether it be perception or government money. I'm not even trying to say Cleveland and Akron necessarily should be in the same MSA, but that the way it is calculated greatly shortchanges Cleveland's MSA population numbers because there are cities inside of the Akron MSA which are clearly Cleveland suburbs, while the reverse is not true.

Cleveland: Population Trends
In just the 7 southeastern outer suburbs (Twinsburg, Aurora, Bainbridge, Solon, Macedonia, Streetsboro, and Hudson) there are over 125,000 people. It definitely matters to the Cleveland metro if they are commuting to Cleveland or not. There are many more than that if you "move in" another level to include Sagamore Hills, Walton Hills, Oakwood, Bentleyville, Northfield, Reminderville, Chagrin Falls, etc, which I'd assume you still consider to be the outer edge of the suburbs.

Cleveland Yoga is closing the Uptown location. I guess they're back to being Suburban Cleveland Yoga.

I don't think that was a "yes" as much as a "yes, YES, YESSSSSSSS!" ?

Geauga county income taxes
I was just about to say the same thing as KJP. Especially between Lake and Geauga counties, I doubt the tax difference is enough to offset the cost of driving further to work. Also, as GCrites mentioned as well, income tax will be dependent upon the city you work in and you likely won't pay any where you live, regardless of whether you live in Lake or Geauga County. Also, it's very possible that your property taxes could actually be lower in many parts of Lake County. Combine that with a shorter commute, and I think it's the better choice.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
They started at $289k a while back, so who know what they'll end up getting. I bet they have a hard time fetching $150k.

I have noticed the same thing in Shaker Heights lately. Many houses are being remodeled and sold for a premium, although not quite as high $/sqft as some of the Lakewood houses I've seen.

I can't believe people in NEO are still Browns fans. I bet a lot of the Browns fans in Dayton are from NEO. The public sector and universities love luring people to Dayton. I think ex-pats are the most loyal fans. I have out-of-state relatives that are still bigger fans than some of my former season ticket holding friends.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
My point was that if Polaris is in the city of Columbus (being an exurb in another county), it is not far-flung to imagine something like Sagamore Hills could have become part of the city of Cleveland had Cleveland annexed land like Columbus. If Cleveland had somehow been able to do this, the city limits of Cleveland would be partially in Summit County. Would that mean part of the city of Cleveland would be in the Akron MSA or would this mean that Akron couldn't have its own MSA? The real problem people in Cleveland have with the MSA boundary is that it's very unusal for a city much smaller than Cleveland to not have every collar county included in its MSA, but especially so for a city which can only expand in half as many directions as Cleveland can due to the lake. There is very clear Cleveland suburban development being excluded from the MSA due to this, solely because there's also another city in that county. Then you have MSAa like Atlanta's, that cover about half of Georgia and a bunch of rural counties 2 hours from the city included, that likely have much less of a connection to the central city. Maybe the bigger problem is that county boundaries are used. If commuter patterns were analyzed per city, Summit County would lose many cities to the Cleveland MSA, but Cuyahoga County wouldn't lose a single city to the Akron MSA.

Hyperloop
So? Bureaucracy driving up costs of infrastructure is an orthogonal concern to the technology used. There's no reason high-speed rail couldn't be built more efficiently and/or a potential hyperloop couldn't end up being bogged down by government regulations and requirements.

Hyperloop
Not to mention that none of the trials have demonstrated that they can do anything groundbreaking. Maglev in a tunnel, woooo!

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
What a conundrum for OMB would it be if Cleveland was like Columbus and had annexed a few far flung areas along its sprawl path that were actually outside of Cuyahoga County? For instance, what if a small part of Northfield or Sagamore Hills was actually the city of Cleveland? This isn't all that far fetched as I would say those areas are at least as connected to Cleveland as Polaris is to Columbus. Would part of the city of Cleveland be in the Akron MSA then?

What would be interesting is to take the entire MSA for each city and then see what percentage of housing falls within each decade. I do not volunteer to do that. :)

Yes, by a large margin, NEO is the most populous region in Ohio. However, Florida Guy's population map (Post #1724) over exaggerates this fact by completely omitting Cincinnati's formidable MSA population (400,000 plus) just across the Ohio River in Kentucky. No question about the red in Ohio. Now add all the red in NKY, portraying CIN-DAY's projected CSA population of 3 million plus. I agree with you on the over the river areas that aren't shown on that Ohio only map. That would change things slightly, but what is this Cin-Day CSA you speak of? LOL. Cincy posters are quick to point out their larger MSA, which is fine as that is what is accurate, but Cleveland-Akron-Canton is the only existing Ohio CSA made up with multiple MSAs. Not only that, but the current Cleveland-Akron-Canton CSA is 1/2 million larger than the hypotehtical Cincinnati-Dayton CSA.

True, but in Cleveland's case, you'd have to go pretty far out to change the median. The vast majority of Lakewood, East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and Shaker Heights were all built in the 1930s or earlier. I think that's his point - city limits are quite arbitrary and differ greatly from metro area to metro area Yes, but I think he was insinuating that the difference in median age between Columbus and Cleveland is due to this factor. I was simply stating that even if you include more areas adjacent to Cleveland, the median age likely doesn't change.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
I agree. My hope is that this road will make those stations more valuable. Currently, if something were to be built near them, those things would be very accessible by transit, but not very accessible by roadway. When the Opportunity Corridor is completed, they will be very accessible by both modes, which will hopefully be the catalyst needed to spur development.

Hyperloop
Correct, because if it was an Amtrak proposal it would be sensible, by a proven operator, based on already existing technology, and about 1,000 times more likely to actually come to fruition.

Hyperloop
Is this the direction the forum is going? If so, can we at least be creative (without getting a time out that is?) I think so. I got called "f*cking nuts" yesterday for stating that Twinsburg is a suburb of Cleveland.

Of sorts. It's a driving range / Dave and Buster's / Night club. Top Golf is to golf what Corner Alley is to bowling. It can be fun, but I don't think people go there to work on their game.
