Cleveland Cavs Discussion
No doubt TT plays hard. He's just not very good. If you can't score, have no post moves, and can't shoot free throws, you better play damn good defense and take up space in the paint. He doesn't do either of these. He gets hustle rebounds, but he doesn't box out and that's why he's a better offensive rebounder than defensive rebounder. That's not what we need. We need a big man who will keep the other team off the offensive glass and has the ability to put the ball in the basket in and around the paint. Of course JR/Kyrie/Frye need to give us more than last night if we are going to win, but at least they have shown us that they have the potential to do so throughout the playoffs.

And Draymond's elbow to JR's face was also not a foul, but Lebron leans on the wrong spot driving and Igoudala's hyper-sensitive man parts draw a charging call.

Tristan Thompson has been a nonfactor this entire playoffs. I'm just glad we didn't give him a max contract, although he still got way more than he's worth. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Confirmed. I'm not sure that this includes the E105th portion, but definitely the 'new constitution' portion. How will that work? Will SR 10 follow I-90 east to I-490 from the Lorain Ave. exit? And does this mean that Lorain through Ohio City and the Lorain Carnegie Bridge will no longer receive state support?

Yeah, I agree. They should have found an investor who would get a cut of profits if they didn't have the money. But I'm glad it will stay open and wish then success. It was at $19k earlier today, so they likely did just cover it, but it's strange that they didn't wait until Monday.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, especially since I heard he would stay on and work for them for a while after transferring ownership. In the write-up on the Kickstarter site it says it's for expenses related to getting the business up and running again since he has been winding it down in preparation of it possibly closing, and that the figure of $60k comes from Bill himself. I hope these people are able to keep Mitchell's Fine Candies open. It is a great place and a wonderful asset to the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they have a ways to go and only a few days left. Keep Mitchell's Chocolates Open Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Tristan Thompson could be the most overpaid and overrated player in the NBA. If you can't score or shoot free throws, you better be a lot tougher on defense (and the boards). This is the second series, along with Detroit, that he has been rendered completely ineffective. And this time, it's by a backup. Speaking of Biyombo, he could be one of the dirtiest players in the league. If he had landed that punch to Dellavedova's face he could have been facing a multi-game suspension.

Here's a stat showing how the West drops off (and how the Blazers should be a team that a team destined to win the championship should manhandle): The Portland Trailblazers, the 5th seed in the West, would not have even made the playoffs in the East this year. The Pistons had the same record and were 2-0 against Portland head-to-head.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
I agree with the sentiment that how to pay needs to be spelled out more clearly. To add to StrapHanger's list of ways to pay, the Waterfront line is another style of payment that is confusing. For instance, when do you pay if you board a Waterfront line train and continue riding it east of tower city as either a green or a blue line train? There are a lot of combinations and confusing situations and I understand it's not easy to describe them all on the website. One idea I had was to make it part of the trip planner. You enter a route and as part of the directions it tells you exactly what you need to do, how much, and when to pay. It could even allow you to choose your desired method of payment (monthly pass, 5 trip, day pass, pay cash, etc) so you could plan ahead of time what way you want to pay.

Everyone has a bad shooting night here and there. If Love shoots 20% FGs for the rest of the playoffs, then of course we should be worried. I doubt very much that will happen, though. And I bet Kyrie's one-on-five end of the game mentality comes more from Lebron than any observations of how his teammates are playing. He tends to only do it at the end of the game, just like Lebron used to. I think they believe it's the best way to kill shot clock and still get a decent shot off, but IMO it works about as well as the prevent offense in football. Of course Kyrie's half court shot and three at the end were HUGE. But he also did some bad things offensively on many of those last possessions. I don't want to have to rely on low percentage shots like those to win a championship. We need to continue to run our offense and get quality shots for all 4 quarters. It's why I think we had trouble closing out games and lost some big leads in the 4th quarter in the regular season.

C'mon Hts. did you watch last night's game? Love was 1-10 in the first half. Pass for an open three, rattles out. Low post shot, hits the back of the rim. Grab his own rebound, hits the back of the rim again. How do you run an offense through that? Of course the offense breaks down. If it wasn't for JR and Kyrie circus shots, Pistons win by 10+. Love had 9 defensive rebounds and 4 offensive rebounds. His numbers weren't inflated by grabbing his own misses. It's a rare instance you'll catch me defending Love's play, but he did have a good series and was a huge reason we swept. I do agree that Kyrie needs to stop this one-on-five mentality late in games. It reminds me of what Lebron used to do when he was here the first time around. I love watching him play, but the "4 guys standing around watching Kyrie dribble for 20 seconds" offense isn't going to work any better than the "4 guys standing around watching Lebron dribble for 20 seconds" offense worked in 2007.

I agree. Love didn't get pushed around by Drummond nearly as much as Tristan Thompson did (and Channing Frye for the limited minutes he was in). But that's what Drummond does. He's a stud and would be a premier player if he could learn to shoot free throws. I'm not the biggest Love fan, but he does seem to fit well on this team right now. He and TT complement each other. TT gets rebounds on the offensive end, while Love gets them on the defensive end. TT can't play outside of 10 feet on offense, Love stretches the floor while still being able to score in the post. TT moves his feet and contests shots on defense, Love...OK, let's not talk about Love's defense. :P

At least you have the chance to exchange them. My in-laws missed the initial sale and bought their tickets on Vivid. They can't go tomorrow and are also not allowed to exchange them since they bought them from a third party seller.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Let me know how I can help! I'm actually President of the Cedar Taylor Development Association and I have one small commercial building in that neighborhood. If the price is right, I'd look to invest in more. All that said, while I admit we lag behind Lakewood, we do have some great restaurants - Tommy's, Anatolia, Nighttown, Black Box Fix, Melt, Anatolia, Marotta's , Little Italy, etc. And if you haven't checked it out yet - check out my favorite CH business - The Wine Spot. Not a restaurant, but you can bring food in and some Lee Road businesses will deliver there. And GiGi's, and Luna, and Stone Oven, and On the Rise, and Dewey's, and Vero, and Grum's, and Picadilly, and Pacific East, and Mister Brisket, etc. (I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.) And then of course all of the places in Little Italy, Uptown, Shaker Square, and Larchmere right on the fringes. I'm not convinced the Heights is all that far behind Lakewood in variety and quality of food options.

You want a good laugh? Check this out... http://www.thecoralcompany.com/properties/cedar-center-north/ Now check out Cedar Center North and tell me how well The Coral Company delivers. What an awful company. And, yes, I know these were the old plans before the banking crisis. But it's been like 9 years since they scrapped them and scaled it back to a junky strip plaza. It's either dishonest or the sign of a crappy company that they still have that up on their website. Same goes for Intesa, where they still have the original (much grander) plans posted (which they have since abandoned). I'm still skeptical that Intesa happens at all as long as they are responsible. I actually hope it doesn't, so a more competent development company can step in and put something in more deserving of the site location.

We took our kids up to our favorite toy store on Shaker Square this morning only to find out they just closed a couple days ago after being open over 20 years. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2016/03/playmatters_toys_closing_shake.html I worry about Shaker Square with The Coral Company at the helm. It looks like the first commenter on the Cleveland.com article feels the same way.
