Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I think you'd be surprised where the population center of gravity would be for the Cleveland MSA. Using the racial dot map at http://demographics.coopercenter.org/DotMap/index.html (and some superior spatial relations skills :P ) I estimate it's somewhere around University Circle or Coventry. There is more population east of Cleveland than west, and a lot of it stretches along the Lake Erie shoreline. There isn't much total population to speak of south of Maple Heights/Bedford on the east side, and the larger southwestern populations of Parma, Strongsville, etc. are more than offset by large populations northeast of downtown in Lake County and Euclid. Fwiw, in 2000, the population center of Cuyahoga County was in Newburgh Heights. I haven't seen the 2010 centroid anywhere, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it shifted southwest given the staggering population losses on Cleveland's east side. Dunno about the MSA, though. I would be surprised if the MSA's population center isn't north of Cuyahoga County's, given that Lorain County and Lake County are the two most heavily populated collar counties, and they both skew heavily towards Lake Erie, with Lake County's population being entirely north of downtown.

Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
One thing that designers often struggle with is why should they be relugated to designing to a lower aesthetic just because it's already built? Do you ever hear people say "well that's how we have always done it". Yes, that doesn't mean it's correct and/or proper. But it also doesn't mean that different is better, either. I'm not saying that's necessarily the case here, but surely a lot of the crap built in the 60s and 70s was done because it was "the new thing" and now we think it ruined the aesthetic of many areas. I think there's too many "starchitects" these days.

Are you sure about that?

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I'm pretty sure the complication from permanently closing off Superior through Public Square has more to do with the fact Superior is part of the federally designed roadway system. The Federal Highway Administration is a bigger barrier than GCRTA. I still don't completely buy that since Ontario was cut off and was also a US route (at least through the southern half).

The first night you can book a room is October 15, and it looks like the standard room is between $300 and $333 a night.

That should pay for about 400 feet of roadway.

How much Sugar is in a can of Coke?
10g? The USDA has no official Recommended Daily Allowance, but has said that 24g for women and 36g for men is a healthy amount. And these amounts are for "added sugars". Natural sugars from fruit and such don't count towards this limit. Also, nutrition facts should have to differentiate between glucose and fructose since the latter has been shown to be much worse for you.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I would hate the team as well if they had a douchebag self-aggrandizing ESPN special to announce their "Decision."

There's no W. 118th St. In Lakewood. :P

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I think the biggest problem is that not many people seemed excited of the concept (or even sure what they were going for). Also, that part of Ohio City is off most people's radar right now for anything other than residential, so unless you knew about the place and were specifically headed there, it's unlikely anyone popped in just from passing by.

Looks like a much better place to finish than down by Browns Stadium. Hopefully they keep it this way.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Lake View Cemetery is in all three cities (Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and East Cleveland). Only the northern portion (butting up to Superior, not Euclid) is in East Cleveland. The rest is split about 70% Cleveland Heights, 30% Cleveland. The border between Cleveland and Cleveland Heights runs south from near Forest Hill Ave. and Brightwood St. to Mayfield Rd. It is very close to the monument, but I believe it is just barely in Cleveland (as in the border probably just about touches the back of the monument.)

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Sorry, but the Giant Eagle Market District is many rungs below Whole Foods. It is also many rungs below Heinen's. I just don't trust a company like Giant Eagle, and the Market District doesn't do anything to change that for me. Lipstick on a pig. In unrelated Giant Eagle news, I only shop there about once or twice a year to pick something up in a pinch (like when Heinen's and Whole Foods are closed.) I don't know where my Advantage Card is. They won't let you do Self Checkout anymore without one, and the "helper" that comes over when you're having trouble makes you give them your phone number, address, and last name to try to look it up. I have had 2 or 3 cell phone numbers and changed home phone numbers twice and moved twice since I got my Advantage Card (about 15 years ago.) I couldn't remember what combination of phone number and address it was under. The lady behind me in line says "if the problem's just that he doesn't have his Advantage Card he can swipe mine." The "helper" said, "no we don't allow sharing" very rudely to her. Eventually the "helper" tells me "well, what do you want to do?" Ummmm, just friggin check out so I can give you money, Giant Eagle! She finally just put in her secret code so I could check out and told me I had to go to Customer Service and straighten out my Advantage Card. I had a similar experience on my previous trip to Giant Eagle as well. So I guess Giant Eagle would rather I just avoid them like the plague, which I now plan on doing.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
You may be right. But you may also be wrong. You don't know what the future holds. But I thought you quit this team? If so, why are you still posting? You're right, I don't know for sure that they will continue to suck. But I do know that I won't be rooting for them if Manziel is the starting quarterback. So with that, I will stop posting until we get rid of him. I hope you all enjoy the multiple Super Bowl rings he could bring you true fans.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Well, Johnny is a polarizing guy. But he wins and the Browns will win. That's all that matters. So don't let the door hit you in the tail. I won't. Have fun rooting for a perpetual loser. An even douchier version of Brady Quinn. I didn't know that was possible. The Browns may eventually win some day. It won't be with Johnny Manziel.

The Browns suck. I will not root for them as long as Johnny Douchebag is on the team.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I agree. This wasn't really a "crime" per se and certainly didn't warrant the level of enforcement by some state agency eager to play "SWAT". I hope someone calls the city on Mr Senyak for a loose gutter or peeling paint. Maybe we can call the national guard in on him. I agree as well. A person with no criminal record shot in the head at an RTA station on W. 65th generates one or two comments. An art gallery caught for illegally giving away free alcohol generates multiple pages of discussion. Doesn't seem like "Crime and Safety" is really the focus of this thread.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Possibly, but it's not an incentive to not go over 1.85 million in attendance unless they're making less than $0.75 profit from each ticket sold. Otherwise, the additional tickets bring in more money than the rent they'd pay on them (and they still wouldn't pay any rent on the first 1.85 million tickets sold).

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
Just to clarify, I was being sarcastic...poking fun at comments about "the black community" needing to take care of its problems when something violent happens involving a black person (which happens mainly on cleveland.com). Ease up, folks.

And why does the "white community" allow these things to happen?
