Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Exactly. They just shot the lights out. It happens sometimes. What makes me worry still though is that Kyrie isn't Kyrie so far this year, dribbling the ball off his foot with 12 seconds left in the game. (Yes, I know he played a good game overall.)

Ohio High School Football: General News & Discussion
I wouldn't say Glenville got blown out by Eds. It was 2 scores and from what I hear, it was closer than that and if not for some dumb penalties, they would have been right in it.

I don't know...shots not falling is a big part of it, no doubt. And shots not falling can affect you mentally. But there seems to be something missing so far. He has been slipping when he goes to cut a lot, and that's unusual for him. I don't know if he's just finding wet spots on the floor, if there's something wrong with his shoes, but he looks as like he doesn't always have his footing, unlike his usual graceful self. Also, he looks to possibly be a step slower. Maybe it's related to his footing, maybe I'm imagining it, or maybe it's due to him bulking up a little bit. (I don't care what strength and conditioning people say, putting on some pounds, even if it's all muscle, will often times take away a little bit of quickness.)

Ohio High School Football: General News & Discussion
I think Heights could beat pretty much all of the teams in D1R1 except St. I, St. Eds, and Mentor. I just don't see them competing with those three. Hudson, A-Fitch, and Canton McKinley would also be interesting games. I can't figure out Solon this year. They were only 6-4 and didn't have too many impressive wins (other than Brunswick being faiurly good, Kenston was a decent win, but they're D3), but then they only lost by 1 to Glenville. I feel like they could give some teams a game that you wouldn't expect, but that they also could get beat by teams that look to be well below their level. Anyway, first up for CH is an away game against Wadsworth. I don't know too much about them and that conference seems to only allow for one non-conference game so you can't get a feel for how strong it is overall, but they're 9-1 with a win over 9-1 Nordonia and their only loss was by 1 point to a 10-0 Medina Highland team. I think CH should win this one, but it won't be an easy game. Up next would be the winner of Shaker and Eds, so....Eds.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I thought that club was called the View, and it is/was on the south side of Prospect next to the sidewalk connecting Huron to Prospect by Gateway...so around the 600 block of Prospect (maybe even 500). Tops and Bottoms is on Bolivar right by the entrance to the Gateway Parking Garage. Is this club affiliated with Executive's Den in Euclid? I think someone had told me it was at one time, but they might have been making an assumption based off the name.

Aren't there a few other structures on that street? How will they be accessed?

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Are you sure? The article posted must be wrong, since it said that Huron Rd. was closed off in front of the Halle Building to look for bullet casings. (Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the TV news article was wrong.)

None on that block that I know of. The only eatery is the Huron Square Deli.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Quimbob, I posted facts about Windows 8.1 (as well as the fact that it was announced months before Maverick). There's nothing "fanboyish" (or would it be "fanboiish"?) about that. If you have facts to refute my claim (other than lies about it being recalled, which it was not), then state them. Ad hominem attacks get you nowhere. I used to have a Mac by the way. I like OSX, but I have been less and less impressed with each new "update".

Windows 8.1 did not get recalled, Windows RT 8.1 did. Windows RT is akin to iOS. Windows 8.1 is a desktop OS. Sure, they called it .1, but I think it's at least as big (if not bigger) of an OS update as Maverick, which essentially just adds a few more built-in apps to OSX.

Absolutely. I was just explaining the likely cause of the stats being up in the last couple of years.

Seriously. And why is everyone acting like this is a big deal and they're the first to do it? Just because they put a big Free sign on a keynote speech and made a big deal of it themselves? Microsoft announced that Windows 8.1, a pretty big OS update as well, would be free months ago. http://lifehacker.com/windows-8-1-to-be-released-on-october-17th-as-a-free-up-1134484445

Can't argue with any of that, but Dion is still a big question mark for me.

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
A few years back, I remember there being an outcry after the Rating the Suburbs issue of Cleveland Magazine came out about Cleveland Heights not reporting crimes accurately. I believe that specifically felony robbery and rape were claimed to be grossly under-reported. Cleveland Heights was shown in that issue to have a lower crime rate than Broadview Heights, and people questioned the validity of the numbers Cleveland Heights had been producing. Every year since then Cleveland Heights's numbers in these categories have been way up (like triple), so I'm wondering if there really is more crime or somebody cracked down on some questionable statistics coming from the department (or a little of each). Either way, though, yes, the last month or so has been especially bad for some reason.

Agree. It is kind of strange that there was that much information about clothes, but nothing about height/weight/build, let alone other details about appearance (including skin color). These seem as if they would be much more helpful as the guy probably isn't wearing the same clothes days later.

As of right now, Jason Campbell has a QB Rating of 138.0. If he keeps this up, we just may sneak out of KC with a W.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
This is all before I remember, but was the convenience store on the corner or next to where the diagonal street came in? I was looking at historicaerials.com and the diagonals went through in the 1952 and 1962 imagery, but by 1970 the streets had been dead-ended, although the rights of way were still there and the sidewalks merged and ran down the middle of where the street used to be. The next year they have is 2002, when of course the current plaza is already there. The 1952 and 1962 images really show why nothing historic was ever near that corner, though.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
Thats one of my favorite things to show people when talking about the difference between Cleveland Hts and neighboring suburbs. Although you just have to drive a few blocks up Taylor to see that Cleveland Hts did the same exact thing with the strip center with Pizza Hut and Family Dollar. Parking out front, set far back from the road with a lawn at least the size of the parking lot, and right across from the gorgeous Taylor Tudors, apartments over street level retail spaces, right along the sidewalk. I feel like this city has been pretty bipolar in development. BTW, does anyone know what use to be where that strip center is now? I hope it wasnt more Tudors like across the street... This has been bothering me since I moved here. Not that University Heights has great development practices or anything, but part of the reason that corner looks the way it does is that it used to be a 6 way intersection, with diagonal streets coming in at both corners on the University Heights side. They were cut off and redeveloped at a time when Cleveland Heights was building places like the strip plaza on Taylor, the apartments at Overlook and Coventry, and Severance Town Center (OK, I know they're a little past that period, but for the most part mindsets everywhere about development were still similar), so I'd say the reasons for what is at that corner are as much about the time period as they are about municipal boundaries.

Are we getting way too overprotective?
The Browns are trying to hide their worst player at QB.
