The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
I bought a $5.99 keyboard on Newegg and love it (it was one of the highest rated keyboards). A simple, no frills USB keyboard with a great feel to the keys. I love it so much that I bought a second one for work to replace the fancy schmancy keyboard they gave me. Best purchase(s) ever.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
That's what Apple tells you at least. I was way more frustrated with my Mac Mini in the two years I had it than the total of all the years I've owned a PC. But obviously everyone's mileage must vary. IMO, Windows 7 is (finally) a better OS than OSX. Who knows if we'll be able to say the same about Windows 8, though.

They worked wonders for Cedar and Taylor.

Get a PC. With the money you save, you can buy about 200 keyboards, and I bet they all will work with Windows 7.

Haha, thanks KJP, I didn't want to have to be the one to do it! Also, I constantly see people (on here as well as other places) use "loose" when they mean "lose".

2010 US Census: Results
Less populous when you include the entire metro, yes, but it's interesting that Columbus generally has the highest population of any metro from mile 3-15. It's definitely much more compact than people give it credit for. Sorry, but it's not. Columbus only has about 8% more people within 10 miles of downtown than Cleveland, despite having nearly twice as much land area in that radius. I'm not talking about just population total, but where they live. You would expect that a metro that everyone says is sprawl to have most of the population much more spread out than it really does. The population in Columbus is much closer to the center than it should be given its reputation. You could argue that more of those people live in low-density sprawl closer to the center, I guess, but my point about it being more compact is that the population is not 50 miles out, but 10. I see your point, but I think that's exactly what most people think about Columbus. There's an incredible amount of sprawly development close to the center. There are a lot of things I like about Columbus, but I definitely think that the fact that it boomed late shows in the development patterns in the 5-10 mile areas.

And if anyone doubts my assertion that this location will cannibalize a good portion of the Cleveland Heights location's customers, check out the comments. Two of the first 8 or so mention how they go to the CH location but will be glad to have the Mentor location to go to instead.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
It's too bad Acacia won't be developed into a sparkly new shopping center with tons of parking so we could move the rest of the University Square and La Place tenants over there. Now that would be progress!

I believe the Uptown location was announced a while ago, although I hadn't heard anything recently.

Columbus: Easton Developments and News
jam40jeff replied to ColDayMan's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is what makes me wonder about the intelligence of developers and the laws of economics in capitalism. Strip plazas and outlot development seem to be big losers these days (low-end stores, high vacancies, short life spans), and Easton has obviously been a huge hit (largely due to the lifestyle center setup). So what would make sense? Surround it with strip plazas and outlots of course!

Well if they open and nobody goes then they won't get any practice and they won't make any money.

savannah - america's most beautiful city
I was always under the impression that Savannah was a nicer city (the core at least) whereas Charleston was a little more touristy. I've only ever been to Savannah, though (3 times), but my wife has been to each once, and liked Savannah better.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
The power outlets are easily visible on the sides of the train. Each pair of seats has 2 of its own regular 3 prong outlets. There is no WiFi, but I have never had trouble tethering from my cell phone (in which case you'll want to plug both your cell phone and laptop into the outlets).
