Lunch or Brunch on a Saturday in Akron
Thanks, audidave, we actually ended up at Wally Waffle...just what we were looking for and not too far considering we were at Main and Exchange when I saw your message. I actually had already tried Yelp and UrbanSpoon and everything else they suggested either isn't open for weekend breakfast or only was on Sunday.

Lunch or Brunch on a Saturday in Akron
Thanks. Lock Keeper opens at 4, unfortunately. The Italian Festival starts at noon so we may grab something there, although we were hoping more for brunch. Thanks.

Lunch or Brunch on a Saturday in Akron
We rode the CVSR train down to Akron and have been walking around looking for a place to grab brunch or lunch, but it seems as if everything opens at 4 or 5 on a Saturday. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

What do you mean? 77 and 490 are both interstate highways, just like 90.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
The funniest part to me is how Matt Fish tries to present himself as Mr. Cleveland, yet still has no Cleveland Melt locations. The more I think about this location, the more I can't believe it. Points East is a dumpy strip plaza (I think dwirthwein had it pegged at 3rd rate). Even in Mentor, there are many places which would seem to have made more sense. The location reminds me of where Bar Symon opened, and we all know how well that fared. I know this place will attract customers, but I think it will cost them more than it gains them. Not only will it surely devalue the brand name by being very "un-Melt-like", it will undoubtedly cannibalize some (or much) of the business from other locations. I see people from Lake County posting all the time that they are going to Melt. Well, now he will be operating double the space and surely won't be doubling his customer base.

Huh? I eat lunch at the Cleveland Heights Melt all the time for lunch and parking (although very tight) never costs me more than a minute or so, which is nothing compared to the time it takes to actually eat at Melt. This is a crappy location and will only cause the brand to lose some of its appeal. I think it's a poor business decision, not to mention all the other (more subjective) reasons I think it sucks.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The building to the left of the boiler plant is the gym and fieldhouse. The building to the right is the old gym. Regardless, there's not room for a football stadium there. I'd assume anything they build will seat ~10,000.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
That's where I was going. The Toronto model. Regional government is a stopgap solution to the problem of poorly drawn municipal boundaries (likely from olden days when the communities actually were independent because it was a daylong carriage ride between the municipalities).

Yes, things that provide benefits to the local economy should be funded locally. The problem is defining "local". I believe it matches up more to a metro area than city limits or county boundaries. Do people in Wickliffe not benefit as much from the convention center or stadiums as people in Mayfield? There's a reason suburbs exist, and it's because they are inextricably linked to the central city. There is no reason they should be allowed to pop up and benefit from the central city's economy without fully contributing to it.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
The problem is (as Gramarye is saying) that we need to appropriately tax people in the greenfield developments for the costs they cause the rest of us, rather than the other way around (we actually actively subsidize these people, which is why they end up paying lower taxes). This also extends to utilities and services. Why should Time Warner or the power company provide service to these far out lands at the same price as to a dense urban area? There is much more cost for infrastructure needed to run cables out to the less dense developments in the middle of nowhere as well as to maintain it (such as when a tree falls on any of the miles and miles of power lines or cables to get out there. Why should urban areas expand roads for these people? Why should we pay for the convention center, stadiums, etc. when many of the people using them live out there? These people should have to pay for the problems with flooding and drainage. They should have to pay for the deer problem as they destroy their homes. Etc., etc., etc.

The blue house is further west (by Bratenahl Rd./E. 105th St.), but I'm not sure about the rest.

THANK YOU! When I worked in Solon, all people could talk about was how great that place is. It's really not good.

Sometimes I dont get the feeling that people here understand this. Actually, most of Cleveland's worst population losses occurred in its poorest neighborhoods. I would have to believe that this caused the per capita income to actually rise for Cleveland.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Well that was ignorant. I have owned my PC for 6 years and have never had a problem and it still is zippy. Oh, and it cost me $550 back in 2006. My parents and brother haven't had a complaint about their now 3 year old laptop PCs, which were both under $350. Certainly, I don't think we're all foolish. Sorry we don't feel like joining your uppity club. Spyware and viruses would be all over the Macs as well if they comprised the overwhelming majority of computers in the world. Spyware and viruses are easy to avoid. People can either spend a small amount of time figuring out how not to get them or spend a crapload of money on a computer not many others have just so they aren't a target. Of course, the problem with that is the same problem with moving to the suburbs to get away from traffic and other people. As soon as everyone else does the same thing, you're right back where you started, except that you paid more to get there.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
The text-only times seem to work fine. The map is slow but informative. It would be extremely helpful if the map could indicate which direction the vehicles were traveling. The site design...well let's just say you should pay MayDay or someone with an artistic eye to take care of the worse-than-horrible aesthetics.
