Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Why do shopping malls have more entrances than little stores?

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Never doubt the level of irrational thinking some suburbanites are capable of. I know many people that would rather commute 30 minutes on a freeway than 15 minutes on a road with traffic lights. I don't understand it.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
That's the first traffic light when you're heading southbound (the northernmost light), so it has no bearing on the southbound traffic volume at that point yet although the northbound traffic (direction the Google vehicle is moving would be affected). If you move the Street View through those few intersections, you see that none of them causes these catastrophic backups people are fearing, even when the controlled access portions have far more traffic than the Shoreway.

I know it's not scientific, but... Random Google Street View of Shoreway: http://g.co/maps/6hm9h Random Goolge Street View of Lake Shore Drive: http://g.co/maps/ac763

The BEER Thread
I have heard others say this. The Thirsty Dog 12 Days of Christmas is very good as well. Christmas Ale is far from my favorite Great Lakes beer, though.

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
Lake Shore Drive varies between 35 and 45 MPH, and in the winter much of it maxes out at 40 MPH.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Yeah, that's terrible. The driveways need to be in the back if there's an alley. That's how the older homes on Bridge all are.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Now that our sports teams are all in the crapper maybe we'll see that happen after someone hits the jackpot on a slot machine. (See how I avoided the moderator's wrath there? :) )

I agree. E. 4th St. too. And Tower City even at Christmas. But the magic is different when you're little.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Luckily, I was young at the time when both were open, so some of my favorite childhood memories are riding the rapid downtown, seeing the Christmas lighting ceremony, walking through the newly-opened Tower City, lobby of Stouffer's Hotel (or whatever it was called at that time), Higbee's, going up and down the wooden escalators, seeing people ice skating on Public Square. Downtown was magical to me then, and it was the early 90s. I suppose downtown is magical to most kids at that age, so when we each think it was magical probably is related to how old we are.

Or it could have paid for operating the 3C train for about 30 years, which may have brought in more companies than that.

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
Here's a 150-page masterplan for the station-area development.... I was talking about the Cedar Rd. station (UC station) design. I'm aware of the grassy plaza design for the LI station (where's it's actually usable, not a "roof").

Off Topic
Nice. I wish they would have included how ridiculous the spelling "rediculous" is, and the fact that someone who dominates is dominant, not dominate.
-
Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
I'm glad they're thinking creatively, too. But I was hoping this wouldn't become the new fad. The UC station design incorporates a "grass roof" sort of idea, and I think it looks awful (in the renderings at least).

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
I hope the design looks more like the one you posted, KJP, and not the one from the article. I hate the big green areas RTA is using in their design (such as the UC station design). Are they supposed to be "faux-grass" surfaces (even the vertical ones) or something?

Cleveland: Retail News
My wife and I were there on the day of Winterfest and they had plenty of all sizes and styles in stock. We bought a few gifts, as did our out-of-town friends. There was a very large crowd, so they may have run through more of their stock that day than they expected, but it was well stocked when I was there.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
It's too bad they don't build a connection to the building from W. 9th, because it looks like the first non-parking level is at about the same level as W. 9th. There'd just have to be a little walkway back to the building.

I had high hopes for that movie, but it was painful to watch.

Bad idea. Now your head exploded.

I agree. I very rarely listen to the radio anymore. Most of the time I listen to one of the online services on my phone connected to my car's speakers through the AUX jack.

Sears / Kmart News
Ha, I knew that would come out. Your famous claim made over and over again. I suppose if you repeat it enough, you think it will be accepted as truth. It's based on your history. And yes, I was a little trigger-happy as well, as I've come to associate your name with posts meant to irritate Clevelanders.

Sears / Kmart News
OK, I should rephrase. I didn't take it as you ragging on Cleveland, but rather generalizing Cleveland posters on this board as not caring about the rest of the state and whining about anything that benefits Ohio outside of Cleveland. Sure, there are posters that do that, but there are posters from other cities that do the same. Just on this page, UncleRando seemed to think the state should help them move to Cincinnati instead. The only person that hinted at Cleveland (actually "northern Ohio") being a charity is not a representative for all of us. :) By the way, I agree with the rest of your post outside of the singling out of Cleveland for having a "we're a charity-case" attitude.

Sears / Kmart News
And then a big crowd gathers around and is disappointed that all there is to see is a couple Urban Ohio geeks pulling each other's hair because of an annoyingly large Like button.

Sears / Kmart News
Maybe you should have only quoted that part if that's the only part you liked. However, most of the rest of the post was dedicated to the idea that the board is a bunch of Cleveland-centric babies whining about Sears going to Columbus.
