  1. We should tear down the restaurants so there's more parking.
  2. I always just hop on the first train available and then get a cup of coffee at Dewey's on Shaker Square if I need to switch from Blue to Green.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but here goes... Overrated and Overpriced Beer - Yuengling I place Yuengling about on the PBR level (not exactly good, but not bad either), but PBR is much cheaper. Yet people still salivate like rabid dogs over Yuengling like it's an Apple product or something.
  4. But not too swamped to be reading UrbanOhio? ;) Keep studying, especially your spelling and use of capitalization! Sorry -- it was there. I .... could .... not .... resist.... Give the man a break, he's got a great username! :)
  5. They have other locations that are staying open, correct? Also, I believe the other locations are all super suburban.
  6. Actually, I thought the article indicated that they were going out of business mainly because they weren't doing well. Previous reports did indicate that they were simply outbid, though, so who knows.
  7. I would have loved to have gone, but 12:30 on any weekday is not a good time.

I agree with you guys that it's not a spending of $400 million and anything else people are worried about with that figure. Economic incentives usually have stipulations that ensure the state will not lose out (and hopefully come out ahead) due to the deal. That said, there is really only one aspect that worries me about this deal. Any economic incentive sets a precedent. Other companies will see this and get the "me too" syndrome. That's always a given and nothing can be done about it. However, this means that you need to be very picky about who you give incentives out to and how much. Basically, a cost-benefit analysis. Breaking even monetarily with the $400 million isn't good enough because of the detrimental effects of the precedent you have set. You need to ensure the state actually comes out ahead (and preferably way ahead). There are two ways to do this. Either lower the incentive or ensure the company you're bringing in will also bring in benefits well beyond the incentive. I'm not sure this deal meets either of those conditions. The rest of the talk about the $400 million as a reason not to do the deal is all just throwing out big numbers as a fear tactic (which is ironic because it's pretty much what Kasich did in reverse to scare people away from the 3C train), and the talk of suburbanization is just pure conjecture at this point since we have no idea where Sears would move.
  9. #58 was difficult, but I finally found it. The end of W. 145th St. south of Puritas. #59
  10. MH, I'm always amazed at how well you do on those lists. I did notice on the one link for UH projects you provided, there seems to be one missing: http://media.cleveland.com/pdgraphics_impact/photo/14fguhnetworkjpg-9522855e3d84a04c.jpg I don't think I saw #1, the Neonatal ICU, on your list.
  11. This is about all I could find about it: http://cleveland.about.com/od/downtownrestaurants/gr/century.htm
  12. I believe Zinc used the 668 garage under their patio for "complimentary" valet parking.
  13. The last line....... spot on That guy's really only mildly funny. But he's a cleveland.com'ers wet dream.
  14. I'm talking about people as a whole, not you or me.
  15. OK, I meant fishy and not fabricated. I don't read into that based on the fact that she opened the door. I think that people open the door for strangers commonly enough that it doesn't instantly throw up red flags.
  16. Well at least you have some redeeming quality. :)
  17. That's not an insider thing, that's common knowledge. And that's exactly why I don't even consider it a Google reference. It was just coincidental that a feature of Siri used in the joke also happened to use a well-known Google feature. It was almost unavoidable to make the joke without it.
  18. I'm not saying it was smart or that I'd do it. I'm just saying that it doesn't instantly make me think that the story is fabricated.
  19. How is saying "Do you want me to search for flower shops nearby?" a Google reference? The map could be, although they showed a generic map and never mentioned Google. The only one I see is the "Google Anger Management". Either way, I think it was completely irrelevant to the gist of the video. I was expecting to see a video slamming (or praising) Google from your comment.
  20. Of course someone is going to voice displeasure when an establishment they don't like pushes out one they did like.
  21. I didn't even notice any Google references.
  22. Plenty of people open the door when someone knocks on it, thinking it may be someone selling something, or asking for donations, or promoting a candidate or issue, etc.
  23. That video was funny, but where were there digs at Google? ???
  24. $175 http://www.sheddaquarium.org/becomemember.html Although if it's tax deductible the effective cost is closer to $130.
