Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Yeah, decent is a good way to describe Pizza BOGO, especially if you're of the opinion that I am that all the other chains (Domino's, Pizza Hut, Pizza Pan, Papa John's, Georgio's, Marco's) are just awful. However, I'll still take my Valentino's, Tasty Pizza, or Marotta's over Pizza BOGO. Still, it's a big upgrade over Georgio's.

Was that the same billboard that said "We're not anti-Semetic, we're anti-Zionist"? I remember that saying being up there when I was young.

Ohio one of the "least free" states?
I think that the smoking laws will become more commonplace in the future, and the states that were slow to adopt them will be looked at as being backwards. Sure, they "restrict freedom", but so do laws which say you can't blast music that wakes your neighbors up at 4 am, laws which say you can't enjoy a beer or six while driving, laws that say you can't go beat someone down with a baseball bat because you don't like them, laws that say you can't shoot up heroin, etc.

Yeah, I love the Murray Hill Market. I am there quite regularly. Their sandwiches are fantastic and every once in a while I can't pass up a pint of Jeni's.

Vote for the Detroit Superior Bridge in the National Trust Challenge = $25,000
I just voted. By the way, I doubt our picture is doing us any favors.

Any "Anyone But" campaign is misguided. A bunch of people subscribed to that with regard to Democrats (and specifically Strickland) in the elections this past fall, and that's what got us Kasich. As much as one may dislike a politician, it's more important to support another on his or her own merits, rather than simply because of who they're not.

Yep. The Stanley building will need a lot of work, and I feel it will have a much harder time attracting and/or keeping tenants than the Columbia Building would have due to the fact that pedestrians are much less likely to walk down Ontario than Prospect, and that it will be a relatively small building surrounded by an ugly parking garage.

No moreso than making people cross Ontario.... which is, I believe, what most here would prefer to the gerbel tube. Just saying that we can't have it both ways. Yes, it is moreso. Now, people who want to walk along the street will have to cross BOTH Ontario AND many lanes of parking garage driveway traffic, which IMO is more dangerous than crossing a street (since there are no traffic lights and walk signs, just impatient drivers that want to get in or out of their parking lot). You would prefer a traffic light for the exit? No way. And the comparison I was making was the current plan with the gerbil tube and the current plan without the gerbil tube. If your concern is pedestrians (gasp) dealing with some traffic, you should not be objecting to the gerbil tube. Wow, you're good at twisting words. First, I didn't say I'd prefer a traffic light. I'd prefer not to have 4 lanes one way pulling into a parking garage. What I was saying is that crossing Ontario at a light (with a walk sign) is easier than crossing a busy 4 lanes one-way of parking garage entrance with no traffic control. Second, I said absolutely nothing (nor did Htsguy) about the gerbil tube. But since YOU brought it up, I'm opposed to it because it's ugly and I think there's better ways of getting people from a parking garage into the casino, such as relocating where the garage is and/or using an underground walkway.

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
Not if the company is large enough. I see this crap all the time in my company of over 20,000 employees. It's a general management issue in a large organization that is not dependent on whether that organization is public or private. Of course, pretty much all public organizations are very large whereas not all private ones are (although we're moving in that direction).

I walked by the Columbia Building on Sunday. What a horrible idea to tear it down. It looks to be in very good shape. The entrance is very nice as well.

Edgewater would still have it beat, easily. But I think you could make the argument for it being second.

I like that idea. I also think it'd be funny to yell "fookin" out loud.

What does this have to do with whether you're in a union or not? People pull this crap in any company big enough where you can pass the buck to someone else. I see it all the time at the company I work for, which employs over 20,000 non-union employees. If the landscaping was privatized at Edgewater with a single supervisor from the state to make sure the work was done properly and timely, it wouldn't be an issue. If the work was done crappy, get a new company next year or withhold payment till it's done properly. Instead we're stuck with state workers who know their job is secure forever regardless.... Sure, but then that company would probably get a bulk contract to do other parks, and then the supervisor would be overseeing a ton of workers, just as he is now, and then you'd have the same problems, just now with a private company. The problem is more a lack of oversight, which comes with any organization too large (public or private) to properly manage itself. Hey, I'm for smaller businesses, too! I believe I've posted my preference before: (1) small businesses, (2) government, (3) large corporations. But anyway, this is off topic.

Cleveland: Edgewater Park
It could use both I suppose. But from my experience, there's a much higher ratio of pigs to non-pigs at Edgewater than many other beaches I have been to.
-
Cleveland: Edgewater Park
What the beach needs is a higher ratio of people that care about not littering.

Yeah, Chipotle too spicy???? Sorry, David, but you don't like spicy food if you think Chipotle is too spicy. Subway, Quiznos, Popeye, Chipotle? Pass, pass, pass, pass. Out of those four, I'd choose Chipotle. Easily. And I don't like Chipotle.
