I agree. Those are both covered if you look at the suggested route provided through his link. :)
  2. My complete guesses: East Cleveland Lorain Maple Heights Euclid Parma Amherst University Heights Lakewood Cleveland Heights Mentor Eastlake Willoughby Shaker Heights North Olmsted Beachwood Solon Chagrin Falls Rocky River Chardon Strongsville Westlake Avon
  3. Hts., you cheated! I saw you move Univ. Hts. up after my little hint. :)
  4. I know that Univ. Hts. always comes out awful because of the rapes. I wonder how many of those are JCU "date rapes". Are you using the one year stats (that they use in Cleveland Magazine)? It's nearly impossible to rank cities with relatively small absolute numbers of crimes because they fluctuate so much from year to year. I believe Elyria and Painesville were right up there with East Cleveland one year and then both were way down the next. Cleveland Heights was ranked as 16th safest or something a few years back and the next year was about 50th. The only constants are that East Cleveland is always the worst and Lorain tends to be not too far behind. Cities with a lot of retail also tend to have higher crime rates (especially non-violent) both because retail presents more opportunity for crime, but also because it brings more visitors to the city which aren't residents (thereby raising the crime opportunities without raising the denominator in the per capita rate). I believe this is why Mentor always fares pretty poorly in these rankings.
  5. I also can walk to the Shaker Rapid. However, one downside to taking it downtown for entertainment is that it stop running just after midnight, so you have to be really conscious about how late you're staying out, which can really defeat the purpose of going out to just have fun. They really need to run the rapid until about 2:30 on weekends at least. I know a bunch of JCU students would use it much more as well if that were the case (CWRU students are lucky to now have the HealthLine to use late at night).
  6. Yeah, that's right. I always forget how close 27 Coltman is to Euclid on the north end of the development.

Or Glenridge or Hilltop. I was just Google Street View-ing Hilltop a couple days ago because I was fascinated by how "out in the middle of nowhere" it feels considering it is technically (at least half) in Euclid.
  8. I'd bet those people use the HealthLine more than the rapid station. Look at the stats on the E. 120th station, hardly anybody uses it. And won't the new rapid station be about the same distance from 27 Coltman as the current one?
  9. Yeah, that's my understanding as well. I think they were competing with Night Town more before (focus more on jazz than food), whereas now it seems they want to be more of a trendy restaurant that also occasionally has music.
  10. It was Club Isabella until 2002, when they changed the name to Vina Note for a year (not sure why). In 2003, it was changed back to Major's Club Isabella, then in late 2007 it was closed down and shortly after torn down by UH. http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/vina-what/Content?oid=1483349
  11. Yeah, Hannahan and Laporta should both make the plays of the week on ESPN (and Hannahan maybe twice).
  12. This is more like it. Good pitching and good hitting.

That's the lamest list of facts I have seen in a while. "Senate Bill 5 will restore FAIRNESS between public and private sector jobs." Fact? Really? That's not a subjective opinion open for debate, but a fact? That and the all caps = typical right-wing brainwashing propaganda. No thanks.
  14. Or until Hafner comes back.

Agree, take Lake Rd. west to Webb then down Clifton back to Lake for a nice and easy drive through Lakewood. To go to Tremont, just go across Abbey, then down W. 14 or W. 11 (I think you have to loop around Sokolowski's because of tghe construction).

I'm disappointed you didn't choose the Mall. :)

What a great building stock and density. Quite the contrast to Cleveland, Tennesse (which has double the population).
  19. I think it goes deeper than that. Look at how Clevelander17's hatred of CH causes him to not want to even share fire department services. He even knows it's irrational. There are many people like that. A city that is nearly 50% black (or wait, is liberal the PC term to use for why one doesn't like CH?) will just carry a certain connotation with many people. How are you supposed to overcome that hurdle?
  20. Well, that was supposed to be partially used by the condos that fell victim to the recession. On the other hand, how's that five story parking garage in UH doing? It looks to me that it's about 10% full whenever I'm there with plenty of vacant stores (which had plenty of time to fill in when the economy was doing better). The fact that you try to point out Cedar-Lee as an example of how CH is failing while ignoring things like University Square or the McDonalds/Safeway/whatever debacle shows how much you let your biases and hatred of all things CH affect your objectivity. And I was just at Noble and Monticello the other day (for the vet). That corner is doing better than University Commons (or whatever that dumpy suburban style strip plaza is called that contains about two stores now).
  21. You may be, but I'm not. Why? Is having a parking garage there instead better? It's not like we're forgoing anything good if the Columbia Building is saved, even if there's nothing in it for a while. Should we have just leveled E. 4th because we didn't want to wait for it to develop? Especially if a parking garage was going to replace it? And don't say it's because of the casino. The casino will be built whether or not we tear down this block.
  22. So what makes you think they'd fit in better with South Euclid than University Heights? As far as I know, South Euclid doesn't have an "ultra-liberal agenda". And whatever this "ultra-liberal agenda" is they have going on over there, it's sure doing a better job at drawing and retaining businesses. Take Cedar and Taylor for instance, where the CH side is thriving while the UH side is dying. CH is filling their old strips of stores while UH is clearing businesses out of theirs to build a McDonalds, and South Euclid tore down an ugly yet functional strip of stores for years of dirt and eventually a sea of parking (if we're lucky). By the way, check out the latest Cleveland Magazine Rating the Suburbs (I hate that issue). CH home prices were one of the few in the area that actually went up in the last 5 years. UH sure didn't fare too well (home values down in double digits and a higher % loss of population than CH). Sure, CH has its share of problems, like many inner rings do, but it's ridiculous to say that city is "crumbling".
  23. Warrensville Hts/Maple Hts/Bedford? Orange/Pepper Pike/Moreland Hills? Mayfield/Mayfield Hts/Lyndhurst/Highland Hts? Richmond Hts/Highland Hts? Richmond Hts/South Euclid/Lyndhurst? SE/CH/UH? Garfield Hts/Maple Hts? Seven Hills/Independence? Middleburg Hts/Parma Hts? Brooklyn/Parma? Fairview Park/North Olmsted? Bay Village/Westlake?

We have towns much smaller with way better building stock than that. Wooster comes to mind immediately.
  25. Wow, weird. I guess I was imagining I had seen it when I saw the picture here. Now I'm excited to actually see it in person. And I must confess, this may be a sin when Burrito is in the name of the place, but I'm a taco guy myself.
