Because as Clevelander17 said, they just have different priorities over there in Cleveland Heights. You know, they like to just stand there and drink beer while watching buildings burn down. They rent out part of the firehouses to Section 8 tenants. There's just no way the fine residents of UH should have to deal with that.

I spent a little while defending O-Cab on this thread a couple weeks ago. Since then, his bat has been completely missing. He was batting around .280 at that time. What is he now, down to around .260 (just checked, .263)? And his OBP is atrocious (.290, worst on the team for starting players...only Travis Buck and Shelly Duncan are worse), so I'd say it's fair to say he barely gets on base. His slugging percentage is not good, either.

Are you referring to the Jonathon Sawyer restaurant? I believe the second green restaurant they are referring to is Noodlecat, not another one after that. Meanwhile, Mr. Sawyer, business partner and wife Amelia Zatik-Sawyer, and partner Jonathan Seeholzer over the next year or two expect to unveil two more concepts, one planned for downtown and one on Cleveland's East Side, though Mr. Sawyer could not discuss specifics. Got it, thanks. I never was a good speed reader (or maybe my ADD kicked in before the last paragraph). The reason I thought you may have misread was because initially I read the title to mean another green restaurant besides Noodlecat (since I've known about that one for a while now) but then realized they meant Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat. That's exciting that they're going to open a couple more. Hopefully they level out at around four. That amount has seemed to work very well for my other favorite Cleveland chef, Zach Bruell.

Luckily, many of the nicest endangered ones have been saved...for now at least. St. James was a real puzzler, though, since in addition to being a very nice church it was still well attended. However, there were 5 Catholic churches in Lakewood, and it seems the Bishop just closed the one that cost the most to maintain.

The real question will be how will they enforce the speed limit? I am willing to bet 90% of the traffic will still be going 50-60 mph, regardless of the posted limit. And tickets for any speed under 55 mph are easy to fight if you're within the 85th percentile speed. The police officer has to be able to "prove" your speed was unsafe for the conditions (exceeding posted limits under 55 mph are just prima facie evidence that you were driving unsafely in Ohio), which is easy to do on a regular city street. However, on a limited access highway with 3 lanes in each direction, a wall separating both sides, and no sidewalks, it will be considerably easier to tell a judge that 50 mph was perfectly safe for the conditions. The real problem is that they need to design the road in such a way that it encourages and/or requires slower travel (narrower, sidewalks, intersections, traffic lights, development along the road, etc.). Until then, I don't see how they will be able to effectively lower the speed limit that much. If anything, a 35 mph speed limit would make the road more dangerous. Studies have shown that a posted speed limit which does not fall in line with the speed a road was designed for causes large variations in the speed of traffic on the road, which is a huge contributor to accidents. Some people will obey the new speed limit, but many people will still drive 55 mph or more, as they always have, because the road design still permits it. This would create a bad situation.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I suppose the Shoreway access via Herman and/or the new W. 54th St. ramps will be nearly as convenient anyway. That's good they'll have a way to walk over to Batter Park from there though.
