  1. Ditto. I don't view them as competitors for that reason, and I'm sure there's plenty of others. My in-laws live near a Super Wal-Mart, a Giant Eagle, and an IGA. They shop at Super Wal-Mart for non grocery items, but do all of their grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and IGA. I think there's a market for both. Some people like the convenience and others don't like the idea of buying their groceries at a Wal-Mart.
  2. This sucks. I've been to Bar Louie once and won't go back. Whoever said it's a "more expensive Applebee's" was right on the money. They even describe themselves as a "casually cool neighborhood restaurant & bar" (trying too hard to convince people they actually care about neighborhoods) just like the full name of Applebee's is "Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar".
  3. Is Father Caruso Drive being cut off at W. 70th St.? It seems this will isolate the Italian neighborhood and townhomes on Father Caruso Drive from Battery Park (and the corresponding Edgewater Park/Shoreway car access). I can't imagine residents of these streets between W. 65th and W. 70th would be too happy about this.
  4. Really? Why not? I think all they require is visibility from a freeway and a certain amount of sq footage, which 70K should be plenty. 70K is not nearly big enough for an Ikea. http://flatpackohio.com/2004/08
  5. My guess, based on absolutely nothing, is Giant Eagle.

Hey, it's the first time in decades that any Cleveland sports fan has any reason to be happy, let him celebrate. Don't be a sore loser.
  7. I do doubt that he did it by walking. He must have been jogging to cover 3.1 miles in 34 1/2 minutes. Even if there were no intersections to cross or traffic lights or traffic to wait for and the sidewalks were completely empty, that's an unbelievable walking pace. A 15 minute mile is a brisk walking pace, but somehow he managed to walk through the city at 11 minutes and 8 seconds per mile? That's a 5.4 MPH average. Even if you could magically keep up that pace while walking through the city, there's no way that's a walk. Go on a treadmill and set it to 5.4 MPH and try to walk. That's too fast for a walk unless you're pumping your arms like a maniac. It's more of a slow jog than anything. I call BS.
  8. Good point on TIFF, Sherman. Has anyone used Rawzor? It supposedly has the best lossless RAW compression algorithm out there.
  9. I'm pretty sure you have that backwards. JPG is a compressed format, which means other compression algorithms have very little left to "squeeze out of the file", whereas RAW files have had no compression applied (kind of like text files, which usually can be compressed almost 16x).
  10. If you're uploading files to Dropbox, the receiving server's speed will not matter (it is fast), it is your upload speed that will be the limiter (both cable and DSL give you much faster download speeds than upload speeds since people download much more than they upload). The only way to speed the process up is to make the files smaller. There are a couple ways to do this: lossy and lossless. A lossy compression means data is lost which cannot be recovered. Examples of this are shrinking the physical size of the image or saving in a compressed format such as JPG or GIF. A lossless compression means the file is shrunk, but all of the original data can be recovered. The most well known example of this is ZIP. If you want to keep the files in their original RAW format, but make the transmission faster, this is the way to go. Yes, ZIPping the files takes a little bit of time, but it saves much more time in the upload, so it's worth it. For example, it may take 2 minutes to compress a very large file, but in turn cut the time it takes to upload it from 40 minutes to 10 minutes. If you don't have a program to ZIP files (or don't know if you have one), I suggest downloading the free 7 Zip program. In addition to being able to create normal ZIP files, it can create files in its own format (7Z), which usually come out even smaller than ZIP files. Of course, the person receiving the files would also need to have 7 Zip in order to restore them.

Here's the entire rule 7.08(a)(1)... 7.08 Any runner is out when -- (a) (1) He runs more than three feet away from his baseline to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runners baseline is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely; The baseline is established in relation to where the baserunner was already at when the tag attempt was made. You can see in the replay he is running slightly outside of the first baseline and he goes slightly outside of the line 3 feet to the right of the baseline. I don't think he moved more than 3 feet laterally to avoid the tag, but it was definitely close and could be debatable. The real question is why was the first baseman not ready for the bunt? What do you think a speedy left handed minor leaguer without a major league at bat is brought in for in that situation? Instead, he was worried about holding Santana (a catcher and not representing the go ahead run) on first base.
  15. Search 112 Prospect on the Cuyahoga County Auditor's Website. It was originally sold in 2008, and then again in 2010. The owner is now USA Parking Systems. Between 2008 and 2010, though, it was "Columbia Prospect, LLC", whatever that means (or whoever that is a front for). Also it was bought for almost $3 million in 2008 and then sold to USA Parking System in 2010 for just over $1 million. Could these two owners have been in cahoots to lower the perceived value of the property?

I agree with everything except what do you mean by "Lots of options for cable/internet service"? My friend that lives in Lakewood is always complaining that Cox sucks and is the only option. Are there others? I thought WOW was the only secondary provider around here, and I'm pretty sure they don't serve Lakewood.
  17. LOL, your avatar/tagline is hilarious. You need to change your signature, though.
  18. If one building has to go, I'd much rather it be the Stanley Block than the Columbia Building.
  19. Google Maps lists Harvard and 271 as 27 min from Middleburg Heights, and Crocker Park as 26 min. 480 between 77 and Warrensville is often a hellhole in both directions during both rush hours. Middleburg to Westlake would be a breeze by comparison. My point was they're not worlds apart as R&R seemed to think (she seems to have an irrational hatred of the east side). Besides, 480 isn't even a slow down before 7:30. It matters what time you're going through there. I had to go from 77 to 271 on 480 this morning at 8 am and the traffic cost me maybe 5 min. Reagrdless, it should be in the city, where people would have multiple options to get there.
  20. And this will only make the traffic in that area that much worse.
  21. Yeah, I guess you're right between those two. I hated both plans, but I'm not sure there's a place I hate much more than McDonald's.

  23. Lansdale
  24. There is one business left there, but I'm betting it has become mostly empty (it was mostly full just a few years ago) because the tenants were pressured out (or left on their own accord because of the word that the plaza was being torn down). And Waterway was just as horrible of an idea (if not worse) than McDonald's.
