Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Huh? There's Skyline Chili's in the Cleveland area. EVD, I wasn't referring to Cincinnati-style chili in general, just Skyline Chili. I love chili, and Cincinnati style is good (not my favorite though, I prefer spicy to sweet), but Skyline (IMO) isn't good by any stretch of the imagination.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Ya know I've been hearing this theory for years. So I asked my friend who is a PC guru and in IT for calvin klein. He thinks that theory is mostly untrue because the hacker that "takes down apple" is going to get tons of publicity, and theoretically if this was easy, it would have already happened. His opinion is that the architecture of the mac is what makes it less prone. I completely disagree. Most problems people have with their computers are actually spyware, even though everyone attributes the problem as being a "virus" (such as when people say "my computer is running slow" or "I have a bunch of popups"). Spyware is generally less harmful than annoying, and often times is used as a sort of "advertising" (or "infiltration" as you may call it). There is little motivation to get attention through spyware as it is really just another spamming technique (like Spam Email), so it would be pointless to target an OS which has far less users. Actual viruses are few and far between (despite what the anti-virus companies want you to believe). I doubt many people here have ever really even had one.

Governor John Kasich
You're right, but government monopolies are not as bad as private monopolies (I don't have time to get into my theory on why right now, but I'll just say that I believe that government monopolies are likely better than private oligopolies as well). In this country, most private sectors are controlled by a very few massive corporations, so the government alternative (especially in a field like insurance) doesn't seem so bad. Many competing firms is great, but even there are some disadvantages there (like losing the benefits of economies of scale). So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not as easy as simply saying "X (usually private industry) is better than Y (usually government) just because I can rattle off a couple of benefits."

What's the difference? Except, admin costs when done by the government are far less. The difference is that the private corporation will skim a bunch off the top as profit.

Isn't that skyline chili's claim to fame? Yeah, and Skyline is certainly slop in my book.

Cincinnatus has moved to Minneapolis!
By "amenities", you surely mean gay bars. LOL Yes, please post some pics. Especially of downtown. I know little to nothing about Minneapolis.

I don't know, but if I had to guess, I'd say it'd be at the east end of the beach.

I was at Honey Hut the other day and I noticed a sign saying that they will be opening a store at Edgewater Park later this spring.

New UO site design suggestions
Interesting, I see that when a wide photo is posted, it pushes only that posts width out. Also, the whole page scrolls rather than just the content of the post. I'm not sure I like that part of it, but I do like that the other posts are unaffected. I use the default skin on SMF, but I hope there's some nicer ones for vBulletin. SkyscraperCity reminds me of City Data, which just feels cheap and sloppy. But maybe I'm just not used to the look and feel.

New UO site design suggestions
vBulletin has always seemed like a hot mess to me, but maybe that's just the way the people set it up for the few forums I've been on that used it.

:( What's been going wrong with SMF? It seems to me like the site's been great since the upgrade about a month ago.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
That's what this joker wants, because it means power is shifting to the craphole suburbs of the state like the one he's from (Dublin).

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
As far as I understand, 3 pm was always a rough time for Tower City and these sorts of incidents (nearly always involving large amounts of school kids having idle time while waiting to transfer bus lines) are what pushed them to create the parent or guardian rule for the mall.

Ohio: State Budget News and Discussion
Don't quote me, but I believe the state currently contributes 10%, so it seems like a 20% reduction. And yes, it's a 2% salary reduction, but I'm sure they'll ignore that in the future when they push for further reductions in salary and/or benefits down the road.

2010 US Census: Results
Didn't the 2009 estimate have it at 524k or something? EDIT: Per Wikipedia, "As of 2009 Atlanta had an estimated population of about 540,922 people." I had some serious doubts about that estimate considering Atlanta's population numbers in 1990 (around 398k) and 2000 (around 410k). That would have been quite the urban explosion. So Cleveland's not that bad off after all! We're almost as big as Atlanta! :)

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Sure, if you're visiting family in Napierville, a car will do. However, if you're going to Chicago for business or pleasure, you're most likely going to Chicago proper (not necessarily the Loop), and you most certainly would do well not to take your car.
