    You're not missing anything.

Shannon Brown's half court shot made it 92-41 at the end of the third quarter. At least the Lakers eased up in the 4th quarter.

Install MediaMonkey (www.mediamonkey.com) if you're on a PC. It will let you do everything you SHOULD be able to do with your iPod. Then you will be able to copy just the songs on your iPod directly to a playlist in MediaMonkey, then just resync that playlist back to the iPod later. You MAY be able to do this in iTunes as well (copy iPod songs to a playlist) but I don't really know as I don't use iTunes.
  4. Welcome, and I completely agree with you about the winters here!
  5. Missing an emoticon, are we? I only assumed that my post was part of the reason for this thread because it seemed as though there were some posts that may have been replies in the Waterloo thread and were moved to here (especially the one near the top where I am quoted). Regardless, thanks for creating this thread. As I said before, I think it's a great idea. I just didn't want to be misquoted and attributed for starting what seemed to be becoming a racial argument at the time I posted. I've started enough of those in the politics and suburbs threads.
  6. Oy, I see my one comment got a spinoff thread. Regardless of my opinion on the racial issues potentially involved, I actually meant my comment to be more of a "we're divided by the river" type thing. I never used to feel the east/west divide was as strong as many made it out to be, but I have increasingly noticed on this board that it seems as if (1) there are more west siders than east siders and that (2) it is assumed by many west siders that everything good about the city is on the west side, downtown, or in UC/SS. Then again, maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill. Either way, I wasn't meaning that people were discrediting east side development due to race. But it is definitely interesting to have that discussion. So carry on, just please don't make my post into something more than I meant it to be.
  7. I disagree. Those who oppose the project do so because the Republicans told them to. Speed was just one of their rationalizations for opposing it. If the train were to go 500 MPH, they would have found another reason to oppose it.
  8. It'd be nice if the rapid made it out to Collinwood, but this neighborhood isn't all that isolated. The 39 gets you downtown in under 30 min. It doesn't run on weekends, which is a drawback, but for people that drive it is only about 10 min by car to downtown due to the easy access to I-90. The 37 takes you right to the Red Line (UC in 25 min, downtown in about 37, including the 6 min layover at the Windermere station) and does run on weekends (albeit with 1 hour headways). There definitely is a west-side bias on this board. Collinwood is in better shape than Gordon Square was not too long ago (and I still think the Grovewood Tavern is better than any restaurant there), has a nice housing stock, and has the Beachland Ballroom to build upon. It is no more "isolated" than Old Brooklyn. Really, I don't see any reason North Collinwood/Waterloo couldn't become one of the great Cleveland neighborhoods with some revitalization efforts. I don't understand why someone would not want anyone to put anything in the neighborhood "because the shops could go to Gordon Square or Ohio City". The same logic could be used on any neighborhood. Why does Tremont exist instead of those places just setting up shop in Gordon Square or Ohio City? How about E. 4th? Couldn't those places just have been located in the WHD? IMO it is a great thing to develop multiple great neighborhoods rather than put all your eggs into one basket and let the rest of the city go to pot. I say good luck to Waterloo.
  9. From the south, you can see downtown (the Big 3) from the Pine Hills Golf Course which is on W. 130th on the Hinckley/Brunswick border in Medina County. That's a good 25 miles south. In the same general area, there is a pretty good view a mile or so north on Boston Road/W. 130th on the Strongsville/Brunswick border. From the west, I know there are views from Avon Lake near the power plant, which is on the far west side of the city, so another good 25 miles away. Believe it or not, Eastlake and Pine Hills Golf Course are almost exactly the same distance from Public Square (right around 16.7 miles as the crow flies). The power plant in Avon Lake is a little further at 18.5 miles, which is almost identical to the distance from Public Square to Gildersleeve Mountain in Kirtland, which I believe is widely considered to have the best long-distance views of downtown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gildersleeve_Mountain

Chicago = Awesome Ghirardelli Store = Not So Much
  11. I agree with both of these posts. In fact, I had to visit Lake County this week, and Biagio's is a required stop whenever I'm up that way. So I got to start my morning off right the last couple mornings! :) Emmie is correct about the price being right. $6.39 for a bakers' dozen (under 50 cents per donut) and the pizza is 90 cents per slice. The only problem is that I tend to eat all the donuts way too fast. I believe in the last 10 years at one point they were only 4 something for a bakers dozen. Really cheap. Even their new raised price isnt bad. Now Im really craving both their donuts and pizza! When I was younger I remember getting $2 off coupons or something that would bring the price under $3. Still, most places with donuts far inferior to these charge around $8 for a (non-bakers') dozen (Amy Joy, I'm looking at you).
  12. While we're on the topic of "How To Scroll In A Web Browser" :) : If you're on a Windows machine, you can press down on the mouse wheel (as if it's a button) and then just move the mouse to scroll. This works both vertically and horizontally. Also, you should be able to just scroll left and right with the arrow keys on the keyboard as long as the focus is in the browser window (if it isn't, click on any area within the browser window that isn't a link). But back to the site upgrade...please install SMF 2.0 RC4 so I can use Tapatalk! :)
  13. That second half reminded me of way too many Browns games this year.

  15. Once you get pushed back, it is up to the ref to decide if your forward progress has been stopped and the play is over. If the whistle is not blown and you aren't tackled, you are either free to surrender the play (go down and not try to go forward again) or to attempt to continue the play by moving forward. So a player may push you backwards but then not finish off the tackle and you could move forward again and gain 20 yards...or get tackled back in the end zone this time for a safety. If he picks you up, carries you backwards and lets you go and you just fall down, you get forward progress from the point you were first pushed back. It's a judgment call, but it's up to the ref to determine if the player regained the freedom to make forward progress after the initial hit and if the player attempted that forward progress.

  17. I think what you actually want is for the posts themselves not to scroll. The problem is that there is a fixed width (or maximum width) on the posts themselves, so anything too wide will scroll within the posts allotted space, meaning that the scrollbar will be at the bottom of the post. If the post were allowed to grow in width when it contained wide photos, then the post itself wouldn't scroll, but rather the whole page would become wider than the browser window, and the entire window would scroll, meaning the scrollbars would be at the bottom of the browser window (and thus always visible).
  18. Was it lunch (I don't think he specified)? Because if it was dinner that would qualify as cheap IMO.

Not that it's any of your business, but I voted and I didn't vote for Kasich. Did you vote?
  20. What better place to find out than Wikipedia? :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
  21. I agree with that. I don't care for the standard Wiki look, and I have no idea why more Wikis can't improve their look. As far as "Wikipedia already does that", I tend to think about many Wikis that way, too, but I have seen many other "specialty Wikis" that serve a good purpose (I think Wikipedia likes to not get too specialized). Besides, the Wiki would already basically just be a "best of the forums" collection, so it's really just serving the purpose of being a less-daunting place for casual visitors to get information, and having to navigate the whole of Wikipedia would pretty much defeat that purpose. Really, when I say Wiki, I just mean a site that is able to be edited by many people. A CMS could probably give you similar capabilities, but the nice thing about Wikis is the ability to standardize look-and-feel, "easier" syntax than HTML, and built-in security and versioning tools. (Personally, I wouldn't mind it just being done through a CMS, but then you might not get as much community involvement in keeping it up-to-date.)
  22. My point, though, IS that the forum sells itself, whereas the site still wouldn't have much added value unless a lot of time and energy was put into it. That's why I think a simple forum upgrade would suffice. There's a reason blogs like Blogging Ohio couldn't stay in business. It's hard to produce quality content on a niche subject and stay in business in a blog format unless you have a few really dedicated (and educated) volunteers since there's usually not much of a source of revenue. It's really only possible to do with community content, such as a Wiki or a forum. Come to think of it, maybe an UrbanOhio Wiki wouldn't be such a bad idea to make the "important information" more accessible than it is on the forum.
  23. I think the problem is that there are no bloggers. The wealth of information of UrbanOhio is its forumers. Running the main site as a blog would require hiring bloggers (or finding volunteers) to write the blogs, or to have people collect articles, well-written posts with context, etc. and compile them into blog entries. I think you could spend a fair amount of money and still end up with a blog not as informative (but, yes, maybe cleaner and more concise) than the forums themselves. It would be a large investment (in money, time, or both), and I am not sure you'd attract many more viewers (I think there are already many people who read the forums here and rarely if ever post, and likely a fair amount who are not even registered). When I started coming to this site, I found the home page to only be useful as a way to view photos organized geographically. However, I quickly realized the "revisit value" in the site was in the forums, and I've rarely used the main site since. That is why I feel like putting too much effort into the main site (other than maybe enhancing the photo galleries and linking them to photo threads in the forum) would be a waste of effort.
  24. Kalifornia Pizza Citchen? Cheese Kake Factory?
  25. I used to operate a couple forums, and have tried phpBB, vBulletin, and SMF. I always liked SMF the best, and I think it works well for UrbanOhio. IMO, it's simple and elegant. It gives you the tools you need, looks nice, but then gets out of your way. It feels to me like some of those other systems try too hard and become distracting to what's important: the content. Also, I personally cannot stand the karma points and per post feedback some other boards have in place. It just seems to further fuel arguments and cliquishness. My suggestion is to upgrade the forum to the latest version of SMF (2.0 RC4 I believe). The website can be dealt with separately as mentioned above.
