I didn't, what did he say? EDIT: Never mind, I found it.

Ping Pong
What a great thread. I used to be pretty good, but now I haven't played more than a couple times in the last 8 years. It's be fun to get back into it, but I don't have room for a table at my house. Ping-pong is way more fun than pool, IMO. The only problem is that it's much harder (and much less fun) to practice by yourself or with someone not as good as you.

Your First Urban Ohio Post
My first post was a photo thread of downtown Willoughby I believe, some time in early summer of 2004. It's not on the site anymore. I don't know what happened to it. (Someone probably took it down because the photos were red X's after I pulled the photos from my server due to lack of space.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
$400 million + $810 million from Wisconsin = HSR that Republicans may support?
-
Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Maybe he'll slash the budget so he can spend a ton of the money the state saved to supplement the $400 million and install a high-speed rail line. Or maybe not.

2010 Gubernatorial Election
Based on what? Show me a case study? Anything! Something! Hell, it's the Boston/Seattle of the midwest. Three words: Mall Of America

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
Could the next Forbes list be "The Dumbest States in the Country" with Ohio at #1 for turning away $400 million to build a passenger rail line between the three largest cities not to be connected by rail?

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
How about the jackazz that replied saying the train would cost Ohio at least 3 trillion dollars by comparing us to Utah? Some people are amazing.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
There aren't many projects that come along which really should have (and historically have had) bipartisan support. The 3C train is one of them. It was supported by both Democrats and Republicans until about two years ago. I honestly think if you look at it objectively, it is one of the most effective and efficient uses of government money there can be. It is pretty much an objective no-brainer. The Republicans made it into a partisan issue once they realized they could pander to the ignoramuses' blind hatred of Obama and all things Obama has pushed for. If Republicans were honestly interested in cutting costs, there are far bigger fish to fry in the transportation budget. But that's not what most Republicans are concerned about.

2010 Gubernatorial Election
It's not the first time he's spelled it that way, so I don't think it was a typo. Of course, I don't expect much from Kasich's fan base. Ohio is reinforcing its reputation tonight.

Vote!
Well, I was trying to make a non-partisan thread. I guess I picked the wrong subforum for that.

Cleveland: Cleveland Critical Mass (Group Bicycling)
Now that I think about it, I think it was the Saturday before last (10/23) that I saw them, not Tuesday (10/26). There were a lot and they had people (may have been policemen on bikes) blocking intersections while they rode through. I would think somebody on here was probably either in the ride or knows someone that was in it.

Cleveland: Cleveland Critical Mass (Group Bicycling)
Was there a CCM ride last Tuesday? I saw at least 100 people riding up Bridge in OC around 9 pm, some wearing Halloween costumes.

NBA: General News & Discussion
You're right, I love soccer now! Seriously, we've had this argument before. Can't we agree to disagree and leave soccer out of the "NBA: General Discussion" thread?

NBA: General News & Discussion
I'm not blaming anybody. I'm just saying that NBA games get boring at the end because of these conditions, not because of some flaws inherent in the sport of basketball.

NBA: General News & Discussion
I think it's like that for every sport. I mean a 1 hour football game is 2:20 Minutes. Yeah, but you're including clock stoppage for incomplete passes, in between quarters, halftime (which is actually surprisingly short in the NFL), etc. I'm just talking about timeouts, and specifically "20-second timeouts". If you're going to include the length of the timeout in the name of the timeout, the timeout should actually be that length. If they're going to be longer than 20 seconds, but shorter than a full timeout, they should just call them "shorter timeouts".

NBA: General News & Discussion
I disagree. I think it adds in free throws as an important factor of the game, whereas they are minimally important throughout the rest of the game (unless you draw a lot of fouls). It also gives you more of a feeling that the team that is behind at least has a chance to catch up. It's kind of like the onside kick of football. Fouling at the end may not make it likely that you'll come back and win, but it at least gives you a chance. And it doesn't slow the game down nearly as much when there's not a timeout and commercials after every foul. Even so, how many fouls did Boston commit in the last 2 min of the game last night? Two? Maybe three? I know some games it gets ridiculous, but it only happens in close games and isn't always ridiculous even in close games.

NBA: General News & Discussion
MTS, I think Hts121's point was that 20-second timeouts aren't really 20 seconds. When I'm watching a game on delay on my DVR, after a 20-second timeout is called and everyone has headed over to the sidelines, I can press the 30-second skip button and they're still huddled up on the sideline. I press it again and they're walking back onto the court. It seems as if the 20-second timeouts are really about 45 seconds. And it seems that the 60-second and 100-second timeouts are about 3 minutes and 5 minutes respectively.
