Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
Yes, but think about the city...the only parts INSIDE the city of cincinnati that have weathy areas are... Hyde Park, Parts of Clifton, Parts of Price Hill, Parts of Oakley, North Avondale, and some pockets here and there. Pretty much it. The majority, (OTR, Avondale, Westwood, Lower Price Hill, Bond Hill, Hartwell, ETC) would not be able to afford 330,000 dollar condo...The people buying the condos are most likely from those parts in cincy i mentioned or from the most likely scenario, the burbs(indian Hill, Blue Ash, Montgomery, Madeira, Loveland, Green Hills, Fairfield, Mason, West Chester, etc). Whether we like it or not, the suburbs have a big say in what sells downtown

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
The problem is thats where the money is...suburbs...and as we know, money drives projects. we have to include everyone unfortunately even though this is a project for the city and only the city. suburbanites don't go out of town and say "i'm from West Chester." they go "I'm from Cincinnati"

NAACP prez wants 'no' vote on Banks BY HOWARD WILKINSON | [email protected] E-mail | Print | digg us! | del.icio.us! NAACP president Christopher Smitherman said today he will ask the membership of his organization tonight to instruct its two members of the Banks working group to vote “no” on a development deal because of a lack of minority inclusion on the project. “My advice to our membership is that we don’t support the deal until there is inclusion,’’ Smitherman said at the noon hour today, in a speech at the Community Issues Forum at Christ Church downtown. “We do not want to stop the project. But we want to get that commitment in writing before May 15." www.enquirer.com

theres nothing wrong with being modern. a buildings look is completely subjective. I personally think that the ascent is beautiful but there are a lot of people who don't like it at all. In the end, in my personal opinion, its the unique that stands out, not the other way around. Guarentee the first national bengals game on television will show the ascent more than once...Unique demands attention (in a good or bad way)

Mark my words...THERE WILL BE AN ESPN ZONE AT THE BANKS! UNCLERANDO, I like your enthusiasm! cmon finances, get it sorted it out...southshore newport, the ascent, hopefully queen city square phase II, One river Plaza, 5th and Race, all the lofts around downtown, Ovation, Eden Park tower, and now...THE BANKS (Hopefully)

NAACP angry over Banks BY JESSICA BROWN | [email protected] E-mail | Print | digg us! | del.icio.us! The local branch of the NAACP may ask the two new members of the Banks Working Group to vote “no” on a development deal because of a lack of minority inclusion on the project. NAACP President Chris Smitherman said in a release this morning that the Working Group had not established partnerships with any African American developers or investors. “Shame on the Banks Working Group. The message was clear,” said Smitherman. “‘Lets’ build it. Let’s exclude you. (African Americans) from ownership and equity.’” www.enquirer.com

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
since i've been living in the city of cincinnati, everyone talks about the lack of nightlife downtown. the banks is a perfect environment to have a mini wrigleyville. I look forward to it

Cmon Banks, its been so long! what do u think would be good restaurants/bars in the banks area?? I personally think an ESPNZone would THRIVE in between the stadiums. I wrote them an email suggesting this and they said they "don't know enough about the market." Skyline and other local stuff would be successful too.

in most situations i agree..but the city has had a lot of bad press lately with the riots, crime, bengals arrests, census news..I thought mallory's bad pitch was a great thing to happen to the city cause he could tell the US that were looking to the future and our downtown is in the midst of a makeover. I think the more publicity the city gets and the more good news and the more media coverage will benefit the city in the long run. and it needs to start with an icon that puts us on the map. an exclamation point on the banks project that new and old professionals as well as multi ethnic people would be proud to move into. A better marketable city in our media dominated society bodes well in the 21st century

I think the city already has several landmarks, such as the Tyler Davidson Fountain, the suspension bridge, and Carew Tower. I'm not disagreeing with you...but in the long time that they've been here, they are relatively unheard of outside the metro area...i'm just playing devil's advocate, but there are some legitimate points. How do we get the riots stigma and the "crime" stigma off our reputation. were taking steps to doing it now, but i'm telling you from my experience in los angeles, nobody knows what the tyler davidson fountain is or the carew tower...
