Is it really? Is it just that plain & simple to you? The longer the economy stays in the gutter, the longer our foreign policies get muddled, the longer the Democrats refuse to take action on the debt crisis, the more beatable Obama is, regardless of whom the GOP candidate is. Palin will never be a front runner - the news media just loves to report on her because she's so polarizing and she frequently makes an ass of herself, makes her much more interesting to put on the air than some ho-hum guy like Rick Santorum.... And I don't think Kasich ever thought for a minute that he was going to be a popular guy with his slash & burn approach, so quoting some ratings from a popularity poll among governors doesn't prove a thing. Besides, I could probably craft a poll showing he was extremely popular if I chose to only poll older wealthy white folks in rural areas... Here's the way I look at it. Kasich and Scott are in two critical swing states for 2012. These governors are single handedly turning life long republicans into democratic voters. For example, Obama was down in Florida in the presidential election poll 41-38 just last month. Now he is up 44-37. That swing, I believe, has to do with Scott. Now you are absolutely right, so many things can change between now and November, but the damage is gonna be pretty hard to undo in some of these swing states. We're talking historical approval rating lows for these governors. The dems are playing politics just like the republicans. The dems have essentially shifted the debate focus from the economy, at least temporarily, to republicans wanting to "slash medicare"(dems words). At the moment, the republicans are on the defensive. We got a long time before the 2012 elections, but I do think we're are going to see Ohio vote overwhelmingly democrat thanks to Kasich and GOP controlling everything

Kasich and Scott from Florida tied for worst governor ratings...Scott Walker not far behind. Factor in Sarah Palin probably running and being a frontrunner. Add in Cain/Bachmann and the rest - It's almost like the GOP is trying to give Obama the election in 2012

Mark Miller or some COAST member going as "MiddleClassGuy" is all over this last article saying the ballot initiative is all about the streetcar and only the streetcar. Someone provided this response to him "Ah yes...Thank you for proving my point COAST member that this will ban all rail. The more I read this article, the more disgusted I am at our local "media". I think we should keep calling out The Enquirer and Barry Horstman every time an article like this comes out. There are many people who are opposed to the streetcar who are disgusted with this reporting too. This issue has grown bigger than just the streetcar to me. This issue has really showcased the crazy amount of bias in our media. Has other cities in the US had to face this amount of ridiculous arguments coming from the opposition? From the media? I've noticed Carolyn Washburn and Barry Horstman getting some twitter heat( and rightfully so). It's time to start calling them out on potshot pieces like this (respectfully of course)

Is it an order from above to bash the project every day? It's literally someone everyday bashing the project.

I do doubt that he did it by walking. He must have been jogging to cover 3.1 miles in 34 1/2 minutes. Even if there were no intersections to cross or traffic lights or traffic to wait for and the sidewalks were completely empty, that's an unbelievable walking pace. A 15 minute mile is a brisk walking pace, but somehow he managed to walk through the city at 11 minutes and 8 seconds per mile? That's a 5.4 MPH average. Even if you could magically keep up that pace while walking through the city, there's no way that's a walk. Go on a treadmill and set it to 5.4 MPH and try to walk. That's too fast for a walk unless your pumping your arms like a maniac. It's more of a slow jog than anything. I call BS. I think you've hit on a great point that can reach only one conclusion if we believe the Enquirer's 'story'. Barry M. Horstman is on the juice

Did he say that publicly? I hadn't heard that. The original plan was without the uptown connection... that was added by Qualls. Did he not support it originally? Yes. He was on Mark Amazon's show one night and basically they just bashed the project. Amazon devotes at least an hour per show to bashing the project

Don't know if I caught this 100% but Luken was on Darryl Parks 5 minutes ago and said something along the lines of "They've already spent hundreds of millions" on the streetcar. Also rambled incoherently about a lot of crazy stuff.
