Do you guys think this petition effort to recall Kasich will be successful in the end?
  2. Who is taking away all of the funds? Only the state appropriated federal funds are at risk. And it is not smart to disclose next steps in a publicly accessible site. The only time I will post anything is when it serves the streetcar project. Gotcha. Yes, I was referring to the state appropriated federal funds. I'm just making sure there are backup plans. Sherman hit the nail right on the head. More corporations need to publicly and financially support the project aside from the casino
  3. So after they take away all the funds, what's the next step? Continue with hopefully more private funds? Litigation? Scaled down plan to just OTR? Or is it finished?

Casino developers blame Kasich indecision for Delays http://www.daytondailynews.com/casino-developers-blame-kasich-indecision-for-delays-800924.html Gov. John Kasich’s indecision about whether to seek additional fees and taxes from the state’s casino developers could delay construction in Cleveland and Cincinnati for months and put off the economic boost that the cities are desperately counting on. More immediately, casino-related construction jobs and the tax revenues they are generating could be reduced or idled. Uncertainty about the fee and tax issues — which ultimately determine the cost of the casino and the revenue it can generate — has kept developers from getting financing for the projects, said Matt Cullen, president and chief operating officer of Dan Gilbert’s casino company, Rock Gaming.
  5. I'm not surprised. During the 1st ballot initiative, I had 2 signs out that said "No on 9" (at that time I wasn't for the streetcar but was against stupid ballot initiatives that hinder representative democracy). I woke up one morning and saw the 2 signs ripped in half, bent, and thrown into some bushes with what appeared to be urine stains all over them. In its place were multiple "Yes on 9" signs. Sorry you were harassed Ken. Sounds like the guy is a real irrational jerk.
  6. An interesting article. Naturally buried so no one can read it http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110410/BIZ01/104100304/Streetcar-fate-may-derail-man-s-dreams?odyssey=tab%7Ctopnews%7Ctext%7CBusiness
  7. Well, yes its not positive in the sense of what a normal positive sounding article would entail, but compared to the typical neo-nazi sounding propaganda he usually writes its a refreshing change. True. But I never once saw it on the front page. I still can't find the blog unless I search "Streetcar" in the search section. If this had been negative results the study found, it would be front page for probably a day
  8. That's a reasonable solution. I hope proponents have the discipline to follow through. I've rarely commented on there. It's just impossible to argue with someone who says "Streetcars are communism, plain and simple, and I don't want Cincinnati to be like Russia"

Bill Seitz was stripped of his chairmanship now....Kasich has it out for the guy. "For the second time, Green Township Republican Bill Seitz has been yanked off a committee in the Ohio Senate – this time stripped of his chairmanship. Seitz riled Republican leaders last month by opposing Senate Bill 5, legislation that limits collective bargaining rights for public unions; he lost an earlier committee seat when GOP leaders feared his ‘no’ vote would kill the bill....." http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20110406/NEWS0108/304060045/
  10. There has got to be something we can do to counter the Enquirer. Yesterday they released an anti-transit editorial while hiding the pro transit editorial from the online edition...This is just absurd
  11. Another Enquirer hit piece on the streetcar tonight. They really want this project dead. This really is getting absurd. Is there anything we can do to call them out on their propaganda?
  12. That picture looks it could be used in a Hollywood Horror movie. I can just see Michael Myers chasing some teenager around there
  13. Is this legal? Precedented? Are there state laws aimed at specific developments in specific cities? No money for a bridge over the blah river in Toledo, no money for a right turn lane on Main @ 7th in Youngstown. That seems bizarre & unconstitutional, it's certainly unethical If I were an attorney, I'd be chomping at the bits. There has got to be something illegal in the way this was passed.
  14. So Scott Walker is now seeking federal funds to upgrade the Hiawath Amtrak line to 100mph...I think I just saw a pig fly outside somewhere. Mr. Anti Rail himself. When your approval rating is so low, I guess you'll do anything to win a re-election

http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/60781/march-23-2006/john-kasich Old interview from 2006 with John Kasich.
  16. Keep calling him out Octo. Good work.
  17. You think they have a legitimate case against the state's wording of the amendment as well as the shadyness of it all KJP? I hope so. By the way, Jon Stewart ripped on Kasich last night.

I thought they were talking about Nic Cage
  19. A Citizens Initiative is the only way to get Kasich out...
  20. NBow37 replied to a post in a topic in Ohio Politics
We could "pull a Kasich" and have a referendum on a constitutional amendment which explicitly bans Kasich from holding office. I am mistaken. There is a way to send Kasich packing before his term is over. However, it would require a Citizens Initiative Process to amend the Governors term of office
  21. Winburn to bring up a "Cease and Desist" streetcar motion on Monday during city council meeting.

The only way to get rid of an Ohio Gov. is through impeachment, and that is not happening when republicans control every aspect of government. His approval rating is now at 30% while his disapproval rating is 46%(Recent Quinnipiac Poll). The overwhelming majority disagree with his position on Unions and the budget. Ohioans are stuck with him
  23. Streetcar supporters are there in full force. They aren't allowed to talk or do anything but listen during the meeting. So ODOT is recommending that fiscal balancing start with the #1 rated transportation project instead of the #15 one. Genius
  24. Yes sorry for the confusion . This is ODOT's staff that report to Asphalt man Jerry Wray.
  25. And now they are discussing how they can change the rating system to presumably knock down the streetcar ratings significantly. Incredible. Simply incredible
