Cleveland: Slavic Village: Development and News
I immediately thought of W. 65th and Detroit, but I guess that doesn't count. W. 25th and Clark also came to mind, but I don't think the building with the mural predates WWI. W. 99th and Lorain is probably in the same boat because I'm not sure the Cleveland Uniform building predates WWI either ... plus not sure if that would count as it's not a major intersection. My guess if there is a second would be Literary and Professor. Again, not sure if that classifies as a main intersection, but all four buildings look like they could be pre 1920. Regardless, that intersection is a gem and I (and I know a lot of others) believe that Slavic Village has the potential to be the next upcoming neighborhood. Even thought the subprime mortgage crisis took its tool on the neighborhood, it's really not any worse off than what Ohio City or Tremont were in the 80s-90s, IMO.

Wadsworth, Ohio
Same here, when I think of Wadsworth I think if the crap along their exit on 76. Thanks for showing the other side of Wadsworth Ink! The funny thing is that Wadsworth is thought of a suburban community but its the city's 150-year-old downtown is well kept, occupied and clean. It's the suburban crap along 76 and High Street is becoming the blighted part of town. North of 76, the BP is closed down and there are a couple former resturants that are also sitting vacant. One of them the grass area out front was about 2 feet high last summer. South of 76, the Giant Eagle has closed down (due to the new store on Akron Road) and neighboring K-Mart has or will close down in the next couple of weeks. The Ponderosa is also closed down. There's a Blockbuster Video around the corner that will likely be closed in the next year. Then there is that four-story monstrasity of a medical building that I believe is completely vacant as well (I know it has a big leasing sign at the top of the building and I never see any cars in the parking lot.) This is all in a quarter mile area.

Steubenville, Ohio
I did a little research and here is an article showing the Steubenville, Wu Tang ties. I knew my memory wasn't as bad as it should be ... LOL. http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0021,owen,15084,1.html

Steubenville, Ohio
First post, but I've viewed this site for some time. I'll post here because I had ties to Steubenville in the late 90s and early 2000s. While it's true that The "Wu" didn't all orginate from Steubenville, the Steubenville connection is more than just "some affiliates". For one, the RZA, the mastermind of the Wu-Tang Clan, is from Steubenville. RZA was the subject of a shooting in the 'Ville in 1991, two years before Wu Tangs 36 Chambers album dropped. As of the early 2000s, his mom still lived in the 'Ville. Also, 4th Disciple is from Steubenville. He layed down the track "B.I.B.L.E." off the Genius' first album (Liquid Swords). He also produced most of Killaramy's tracks. Killaramy is the group Beretta 9 was with. Beretta was from Steubenville. Shogun Assassain, another member of the group, was also from Steubenville. From what I remember, he grew up in the projects just east of downtown (I think that's east) off of Lincoln Ave. But the ties to the group were deeper than just that. A Steubenville cat by the name of Wise was a friend of the Wu. From what I know, Wise was part of a gun-running operation between Steubenville and Staten Island. Wise was an "unofficial" member of the Wu. The Wu also had a place outside of town where they would shoot target practice. Anyway, Wise, who was in the "Gods" gang (which was the Wu's allies), was murdered in Steubenville by some crips in the late 90s (97-98). At the time, there were three gangs in the 'Ville, the Gods, Crips, and Bloods. The Gods and the Bloods had an allegiance against the Crips. A couple of weeks later, a couple of Crips were shot in retaliation. It was the Gods and the Bloods responsible, though I don't think anybody was ever charged. A couple of Crips were charged with Wise's death however. Things have died down recently, but what I just wrote is another chapter in the Stuebenville, tough town, image. Regardless, F' Reno, Steubenville is the biggest small town in America.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
First time poster, but I see cleveland.com has a site that tracks Cleveland's crime statistics to date. Looks like the city is on pace to topple last year's murder numbers. As of August 18, Cleveland had 73 murders, compared to 61 at the same time last year. The city finished with an Ohio high 115 murders in 2005. The site tracks all the violent crimes, and guess what, they are all up from last year except for assault. Homicide and robberies are way up this year, in just about every district. The most drastic changes seem to be in the first and third districts. Here's the link http://www.cleveland.com/pdgraphics/interactive/crime/ Last year, Cleveland was the 12th most dangerous city in the U.S., looks like the city may crack the top 10 this year. Does any other city have a site like this that tracks crime stats?
