Dayton: a big-time sports city???
wow i never knew they had 503 sellouts outs a ROW. I guess it's time for a bigger staduim. Oh and that arena in Butler county would have been called the hippodrome..lol

Cincinnati Cyclones Discussion
Another reason is exposure. Local sports news run highlights of The NBA before they even talk about the Cyclone's. IF they lead off with the Cyclone's first , it would be in a much better position.

Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Truefully i think F500 companies want to stay in stable area's where people tend to stay at their jobs 10/15/20+ years. If they located to Vegas, i bet they will get employees to stay there for 4-6 years and then move on. Big companies want much more than that. This is just opinon only.

Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Do you have anything a little more recent than something that was put together 6 1/2 years ago? There were some major acquisitions that took place, including P&G buying Gillette for $57 billion dollars ... stuff like that, that took place a couple of years ago. That list to me, is like saying Cincy's economy is better than Cleveland's because we have more F500 companies. I think you can put it all to rest about F500 companies. How many does Las Vegas Phoenix, Portland and Sacramento have? Hardly any. Look where they have gotten in a short period. I think Cincy alone has more F500 than the above metros put together. So having f500 companies may not be the key to economic strength.

Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Cincy has a couple of other companies that could be added into the f500 soon also. Cintas and Convergys. Oh and American Financial Group which was a F500 before.

Cincinnati: 'Downtown Boom!'
Ouch Let's face it, Cincinnati is no longer an urban/cultural city. This is a suburban-oriented city, people who get around in cars (not trains/subways). People who live above Ronald Reagan Hwy live up there. It's is there own city. West Chester, Mason, Kenwood are the real centers of this city. I think we are trying too hard to get people to live with a Model T car when people have evolved into the newer ways of living. --James, Columbia Tusculum, Thursday, April 19, 2007 - 2:04:00 PM

Census: Ohio Metropolitan Areas
^??? What is your problem? He only said it as an example. Anyway i agree with him also. Not only will it bring in things that were never here before, It also raises wages somewhat and the Government sends more money to the region.

I know it's only a few games, but the Reds pitching is doing very well. They won 6-1 tonight. Maybe spring training was not a fluke.

Census: Ohio Metropolitan Areas
I don't know. Alot of Cincinnati's Interstates backs-up both directions.

Census: Ohio Metropolitan Areas
33 counties????? Holy cow. With no mass transit to most of them counties and when gas hits $4-$5 i expect some counties to be dropped, but then again, they would move closeer to the city.
-
Census: Ohio Metropolitan Areas
Of course it should. Cincinnati has a much larger metro area as far as land square mile. While Cleveland is against the lake. Cleveland no doubt will have a much higher density which would make a city feel larger.

Sounds like the first phase is 21 stories and the second is 18 stories. I'm going by the 14 units per floor specs.

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
Colombia seeks 8 in Chiquita payments By JAVIER BAENA, Associated Press Writer BOGOTA, Colombia - Colombia's chief prosecutor said Tuesday he will demand the extradition of eight people allegedly involved with Chiquita's payments to right-wing paramilitaries and leftist rebels in a region where it had profitable banana-growing operations. The prosecutor also said in an interview with local RCN radio that his office had opened a formal investigation into allegations that Alabama-based coal producer Drummond Co. Inc. collaborated with paramilitaries to kill union members. A civil lawsuit in the U.S. makes similar allegations, which the company has denied. Read More...

Cincinnati-Dayton Megalopolis
When this happens. I'm sure the Cleveland-Akron-Canton area will also be combined. I don't think the combining of Chicago and Milwaukee will ever happen, unless it's one MSA connected by a Continuous urbanized area. Boston and Providence have now formed a single CSA from just a few months ago. It makes one wonder how often they look at the numbers. If they looked at the Cincinnati-Dayton area and it didn't make the cut i would like to know how much more is needed to qualify?
