  1. ^ The city is not forcing Duke to do anything. Is there a law that says utilities must be moved? Show me.

No easy fix. People that would vote against a transportation issue will be setting the metro up to fail. By the time gas is $6, $7 $8+ etc it would already be too late. The price of ANY rail would be ASTRONOMICAL by then. And the only metro's with real will be the only viable ones to live. Well unless you like to shell out $150 for fillup, along with $7 for milk and $5 for a loaf bread.

A regional sales tax can fund these projects. 14 billion is financed in King County(Seattle) by sales tax to get their transportation projects done and we are afraid of 2-3 billion. What a joke.
  4. Amazing how the rails that are still in the ground look so good after all these years.
  5. Well unless something is done with I-75 55 mph will be a rarity.
  6. Don't Ky and Indiana put money in toward OKI? Is Portune even on OKI's board? Edit: I got my answer.
  7. ^ Im just saying. It would be far cheaper and save 2 decades in time until we get full funding back.
  8. Oh man what are they thinking???? Artimis moving to Columbus???? http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/traffic/traffic_news/Traffic-resource-leaving-local-post
  9. Anyone know why P& G sold Pringles?
  10. Here is some examples of the SL lanes. Images are from the federal highway administration. I-71 can easily fit these in with maybe minor widening around the Ridge road exit. I-75 is a bit narrow but with some minor widening this can be implemented and would be cheaper than major widening.
  11. Cincinnati is definitely lacking with those kind of developments next to exits on the interstate.
  12. ^You kidding? Plenty at Rookwood. Only a few blocks or exit away. 5 mins max to get there.
  13. Keystone is looking at building another office building. It could be there.
  14. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120212/BIZ/302070181/Neyer-adding-hotel-Evanston?odyssey=mod Plans are under way for a 120-room hotel at Keystone Parke in Evanston, adding to a list of several hotel deals under way in the region. The $12 million, five-story hotel would kick off the second phase of Evanston-based Neyer Properties’ Keystone Parke office complex, which overlooks Interstate 71 and is home to Strayer University, Neyer’s offices and the new headquarters for the Cincinnati chapter of the American Red Cross, among other tenants. Neyer says the hotel, which would include a restaurant and bar, is just the type of amenity needed at Keystone. The firm is working to attract top tier office tenants to complete its plans to add at least two more office buildings with more than 320,000 square feet of space, and up to 11,000 square feet of retail space off of Dana Avenue, according to City of Cincinnati documents obtained by The Enquirer. Neyer declined to comment on the project.
  15. The streetcar had to do the ground breaking Friday or they would have risked losing federal funding. They need to Build Phase one ASAP so they can get apply for another Tiger grant for phase 2.
  16. ^I think he meant utility worker deaths not pedestrians. Metro has had a few pedestrian deaths here the past few years.
  17. ^ You know if any lawsuit come it would be the people of Cincinnati against Duke. Not just one home owner, since this would be public transportation.
  18. What would be the point that when the city manager said they agreed that they would work during the 6 hour down time to the 18 hour uptime of the streetcar.
  19. What does Ohio code say?
  20. Do you think they talked about utilities at the conference in DC?
  21. Interesting comments coming in. "Tim Kinney · Cincinnati, Ohio What does it take to impeach a mayor that is not in step with or totally ignoring the citizens that he is supposed to be representing in good faith and honesty"
  22. Seems odd that they can miss 25 million in stolen copper over years and not notice. Yet they say this costs 18.7 million to relocate the utilities.
  23. The utilities in Tuscon, Az are pledging 11 million toward the streetcar project there. http://www.tucsonstreetcar.com/background.htm
  24. Battery powered streetcars looks like a real good deal right about now. Maybe run electric through the CBD and the Banks, since there is no overhead wires to worry about, then use the battery through OTR.
  25. ^ I think forces behind the scene is the problem. From day one we have had state funding banned by a representative not even from this streetcar district. Having funding cut by ODOT for this #1 rated project in the whole state. I could go on and on.
