  1. Queen Please :-D
  2. Great Idea! My Two Cents: I'd place a graphic (skyline or some such thing) on the left, then put the text "URBAN OHIO" or "OHIO'S URBAN RENEWAL" on the bottom. If I remember correctly, specialty plates like the "Pets" or "Wildlife" ones donate their money to related charities. It might help you convince a congresman to sign on to the idea if you tie it into urban renewal and have the extra cost of the plates go to urban renewal causes.
  3. Make up your mind, is the State Football Championship a big deal or a "measly" event. Unfortunately when I was in high school our football team sucked ass (S-T-E-B-B-I-N-S, Stebbins Indians are the best, YES!) so I've never had to make the long haul to Massillon. I guess this is about weighing the wants/needs of Massillon versuses the wants/needs of the rest of the state.
  4. ^What does the Icefest (local attraction) have to do with the State Football Championship (statewide attraction)? Columbus would make a good choice for the same reason it's the Capital City, Location, Location, Location. Crew Stadium is right off of I-71, which happens to connect the 3 largest cities in Ohio.

Will the scaffolding and netting still be up when they film Spider Man 3 in Cleveland?

The Old Post Office (not sure what it's used for now).
  7. How many stories is their current HQ building?
  8. Any predictions for how many stories this "mid-rise" tower will be?
  9. ^ Yes, it will be a limited access freeway from 270 to Granville. My company is currently modifying the plans in accordance to ODOT's final comments (no easy task considering there are 1,000+ sheets).
  10. Any renderings for the project? What all will be built on this site?

Born in the Phillipines, moved to California, then Louisiana, lived in Gallia County for half a year, then Montgomery County for 13 years, and finally moved to Franklin county for college 12 years ago and still here.
  12. Columbus RetroMetro has added a panoramic view of the North Bank Condo area: http://columbusretrometro.com/panoramas/sitemap.cfm?pano=19&ver=qt

  14. ^It's only 20-stories tall, would cut-outs or step-backs really make a difference? I think the simplicity of the design will work for the scale of the project. Besides it's a huge improvement over some of the other buildings in the area like Nationwide and AEP.
  15. The 'Nati also got a name drop on "The Family Guy". Last night's episode (might have been a repeat) had Stewie pretending to be an office manager with Brian being his only employee. Stewie berated Brian for something he did while the rep from Cincinnati was in the office.
  16. I became a member of the Ohio Historical Society last year and love visiting the museum. The exhibit that is being demantled was the stalest of the museum so I can see why they chose it. I've been very impressed by the temporary exhibits the museum's had over the past few years. I agree that the General Assembly seems to have no sense of history and is short-changing the museum.
  17. I like the crosswalk signals in downtown Indianapolis which count down the seconds until the signal changes from "Walk" to "Don't Walk".
  18. I've never heard one that actually talks.
  19. yep, those bumps are called "Detectable Warnings" and are there for those that are blind or have compromised vision. My favorite ADA addition is the audible crosswalk signal. You can hear it at Vine & High in front of the Columbus Convention Center.
  20. Curb ramps are the concrete ramps that are usually found at intersections which allow people in wheelchairs to go from the sidewalk down to the pavement and vice versa. A few years ago a lot of municipalities, including Columbus, were being sued for not providing ADA compliant curb ramps (ADA specifies the max slope, min. width, etc for curb ramps). During that time period any project with curb ramps involved was pretty much put on hold until the City Engineer, City Attorney, and the ADA folks could come to an agreement.
  21. Holy shit I can't believe they're finally going to start the Sullivant/Demorest project. The company I used to work for started designing that project in 1994! When I graduated from Ohio State in 1999 the design for Sullivant/Demorest was almost finalized, or so we thought. I left that company in 2003 and changes were still being made to the project (mostly curb ramp modifications). Sullivant/Demorest was one of the first projects I ever worked on so I can't wait to see the final product!
  22. It's too bad the Superbowl isn't always held in the home stadium of one of the two teams playing in the bowl itself. I know this will never happen, but it would be cool to see.
