Blizzard (s) of '78
I was 2 years old when the Blizzard of '78 hit so I don't remember anything about it, but my family talks about it a lot to this day. I was visiting my relatives in Hilliard when the blizzard hit and we got stuck in their tiny little house. Up until 1978 I was living in the Phillipines, so my cousins were all excited to meet me, but by the end of the blizzard they all hated me....terrible two's I guess. My Dad says that he and my Uncle spent 30 minutes trying to get to the store to buy food, but only made it to the end of the block, lol.

Anybody want to see an aerial photo of Montgomery County? (Dayton)
your second aerial photo proves that the Air Force museum is in Riverside, not Fairborn so take that Skyhawks!!! :-D just kidding, I know the Air Force Museum isn't in any city, but Riverside is the "Gateway" to the museum (and Spring St. is one hell of an ugly gateway). Has the US-35 by-pass around Xenia sped up the sprawl between Xenia and Dayton?

Ohio's County Courthouse Pictures
I can't believe Seneca and Lorain won over Jefferson and Defiance for worst addition/editing.

The original Gallia county courthouse was also destroyed by fire...the new one sucks.

Columbus neighborhood: Franklinton
The coop is in Franklin Township, but I think most people would associate it with Franklinton.

Columbus Blue Jackets Discussion
I think Columbus tends to lean towards the Browns/Indians because we have so many ex-clevelanders living here. Whenever I talk to people out at the bars it seems like 75% of them moved to Columbus from the Cleveland area.

Columbus Blue Jackets Discussion
In 1994 Columbus had only one sheet of ice (OSU), now it has 10 sheets of ice and hockey fever is growing like crazy here. I took some hockey classes at the Dublin Chiller and they were overcrowded with people from little kids to senior citizens. I've talked to some people at Jackets games who are from Toronto, New York, and Detroit and they seemed pleasantly suprised at how well the NHL has been recieved in Columbus and how crazy Jackets fans get at games despite our dismal records. Most hockey mad people (read Canadians) are pissed off about places like Florida, Texas, and Arizona getting NHL teams, but most of the Canucks that I've talked to say they think Columbus is a great place for hockey, not just because the city supports it so well (we have a great attendance record), but also because the Blue Jackets are really Ohio's hockey team and they know Ohio has a long history of hockey including minor league teams and great college teams like BGSU and Miami of Ohio. I guess they could have put the Blue Jackets in Cleveland, but the bottom line is Ohioans have needed an NHL team that they could call their own and Columbus' central location makes it a great place to have Ohio's only NHL team.

Amherst: Cleveland Quarries
When I saw the renderings of the condo towers I was assuming that this project was going to be on Lake Erie (I had to get out a map to figure out where Amherst was). On a side note, does Lorain have any plans to "clean up" the lakefront anytime soon? I was very dissapointed when I drove US 6 through the county to find most of the lakefront had rundown looking areas along it (outside of Avon Lake and Vermilion of course).

Amherst: Cleveland Quarries
For those of us who live south of I-70, what is Amherst like? What's the population of Amherst?

Ironton, OH.....and Waverly, OH
you're right, South Point is Ohio's southern most city. It's hard to believe that Lawrence county has over 60,000 people considering it doesn't have a major city like a Portsmouth or Athens. There used to be an awesome ski resort near Waverly, but it closed down a few years ago....it had the best slopes in Ohio.

Columbus: Ohio State Main Library Renovation
I've never seen the back of Page Hall...and you're right, the glass cube does look odd. The front of Page Hall looks awesome at night though. I had no idea Page Hall was built in 1904! I would have gone to class more often if I'd known that!

Columbus: Ohio State Main Library Renovation
The new glass front will look a lot like the new Page Hall which sits across the street from Hagerty Hall. I had my first class there (Psych 100) so I was a kind of sad to see them gut it, but the final result looks cool.
