  1. Looks pretty damn cool to me! It's amazing what a well planned, aesthetically pleasing bus/train station can do for a neighborhood.

They can't. No city can go into more than one state. (Even Kansas City Mo/Ks is two seperate political entities) Now if Ohio could Annex Newport and Covington (and pass constitutional muster)' date=' then Cincy could try to claim them as their own.[/quote'] LOL, I hope you don't think I was being serious!!! I'm not that stupid man, I know you can't annex across state borders. Was just thinking it would be nice if Cincy had control of both banks of the river. Montecarloss: Give it up man, it's pop and will always be pop in Ohio. I work with a guy from New York and he even calls it pop after only living in Ohio for 2 years.

Cincy should annex Newport and Covington! How cool would that be!

Back in the 1980's Columbus signed a "win-win" deal with suburban school districts that said for 20 years any land that Columbus annexed wouldn't change to the Columbus City school district (i.e. there are kids that live inside the Columbus city limits, yet attend Hilliard schools, Dublin schools, Gahanna schools, etc.). Well the 20-years is up, so all new land that Columbus is annexing will be converted to Columbus City schools, so the city is expecting a boom in school district attendance.

I think CMH_Downtown answered your question.

Where in the article did it say you have to "annex and suburbanize" to attract immigrants? First thing I learned in Psych 101: Correlation does not mean causation!!!!!! I think the part of the article you meant to quote was "But in many respects, Columbus, the hub of Exurbia, is Ohio's most progressive city." The view is that Cleveland and Cincy are stuck in their ways and a Somalian, for example, will have a tougher time assimilating there than did their Slavic or Germanic predicesors.
  8. lol, yeah it must be because the grant itself is only $4.1 Million.
  9. When I was in Cleveland last year, I just bought an all-day pass and that was a lot less hassle then dealing with transfers.
  10. You got it. I once worked on a project to improve the Sullivant Ave./Demorest Rd. area of Columbus which was started in 1994....it still hasn't been built. We got all the signatures we needed except one....last I heard it's still on hold.
  11. Looks good to me! Will the BRT be run by GCRTA? Can you transfer to the Euclid Corridor bus just like you would to a Rapid train or RTA bus without having to buy another pass?
  12. I've been to Montezuma! All I can remember about it was all the nice new homes there on the lake (I think).
  13. Take it from an engineer.....nothing is ever as simple as it seems. The design was probably done a long time ago, it's the financing and design approval by all the government agencies involved that's holding it up.
  14. Have the picked the bus design yet?
  15. hmmmmm.....sounds like Versailles to me  Looks like UD has some great projects in the works. The "Ghetto" is still there right? :)
  16. Are there millions of people would want to gamble? Does anyone have the numbers that the Indiana, Windsor, and West Virginia casinos are drawing? Ok, so I worded it a little weird....I didn't mean to say all of the millions of people in surrounding states/provinces wanted to gamble, just meant that we have some large populations by us, and according to your logic, they don't want to gamble in their home state/province, so Ohio would be a convenient alternative.
  17. I hate it when people use gambling as a "moral" issue. OK, so there are a lot of voters in Ohio who don't like to gamble, but that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't be allowed to! The proof that lots of Ohioans like to gamble can be found in the parking lots of Rising Sun, Indiana and Windsor, Ontario. Why does such a conservative state like Indiana allow gambling? How did they convince the voters to approve of it?
  18. All you have to do is take the entire Ohio Legislature on a field trip to Lawrenceburg, Indiana and show them the parking garage filled with Ohio license plates! They should put a riverboat casino on the eastside of Cincinnati around New Richmond......you'd get tons of people from Cincy and Columbus!
  19. Just wait until it's announced that, in order to pay for this project, the name will be changed to "Fountain Square Presented by Korger"
  20. Have they set a concrete opening date yet?

I'm guessing at least half of the people who smoke at bars aren't full time smokers. I know a lot of my friends that will only smoke when they are out drinking. I just wish they would have allowed the free market to decide whether to go smoke free. If the demand is there then there should be plenty of non-smoking bars for people to patronize. When are they going to outlaw industrial plants that pollute our air??? I just hope this doesn't hurt the downtown bars and restaraunts too much.

I guess city council doesn't believe in a free market economy :stupid:
  23. There's also a plan to build bike trails to connect the Ohio River with Lake Erie.....now that would be cool! http://www.dot.state.oh.us/bike/default.htm http://www.ohiotoerietrail.org/about/our_org.asp
  24. can you put ColDay's face on it? Maybe put that pic of him in a business suit on it. Make it look more legitimate.
