Ameritrust Center, Cleveland
- Ohio's tallest
 We need about 15 more Key Towers spread throughout Ohio's cities. Thank god Ohio's tallest skyscraper is a good looking one. Could you imagine if Ohio's tallest looked like that 1970's monstrosity that Columbus calls its tallest? I think Key looks just as great at night too......I LOVE the light blue color that is used to light up the pyramid!- Ohio's "Grande Dame" skyscrapers
wow, 1930-1931 was a great time for Ohio's skylines! Great Depression my ass :crack:- CLEVELAND - Pinnacle update!
I'm just going to throw in a Cleveland question here...... Is the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade a good place to stay? Last time I was in Cleveland I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid which turned out to be nice. The Hyatt looks like it's in the same area and within walking distance of Tower City (Rapid Station). I'm thinking about going up there the weekend after Independance Day just for the hell of it. Maybe spend Friday night at Put-in-Bay, then spend Saturday night in Cleveland.- Columbus: Random Development and News

^ aren't most convention centers that way? They need to be large and sprawly if you want out of town money flowing into your city's coffers.- Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
What's the final product supposed to look like again?- STICKY: What do you want to see???
How about a "Social" section. A specific area for posting gatherings (not just the big forum meets, but smaller, informal ones too), social events, urban issue related meetings/seminars, local night scenes, live bands, festivals, art showings, etc. I could see people posting local happenings in their city, like an art exhibit opening or a developer meeting about a new condo tower being built. Be a fun way to find people to do stuff with in your city. I'm sure we all have friends like mine that melt when they're more than 5 miles from Easton, so it would be nice to be able to find some folks who like to leave the suburbs once in awhile. I know we all can't make it to forumer meets either, so we could use the "Social" section as a way to find one-on-one or two or three meetings for urban neighborhood tours and the like.- urbanohio bumper stickers

wow, sounds like one hell of a boat! Would love to see Ohio and Ontario form closer ties. I'm sure most people forget that Ontario even borders Ohio.- Columbus: Random Development and News

JohnOSU99 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWOW, there's a lot more stuff going onto the former A.C. Humco site than I thought! I still see the dirt patch which will one day become Jeffrey Place everyday on my way to work. Is there any real work going on there right now? I think I heard something about utility work beginning soon?- Where you went to school, what do you do?
No, we're strictly on the design side of the business. Columbus has a TON of civil firms, so you should have no problem finding a job! EMH&T, TransSystems, WD Partners, Moody/Nolan, DLZ, Burgess & Niple, etc, etc, etc,- Cincinnati and the smoking ban
Columbus is also trying to pass a similar ban, which includes a rule that you can't smoke within 20 feet of an entrance or an exit. Although I do smoke, I can see why smoking shouldn't be allowed in restaurants since there are some IDIOT parents who will bring their kids into the smoking section. Since kids don't have the choice as to where they sit in a resaurant, then smoking should be banned. But I have a huge problem with banning smoking (outright) in bars and nightclubs. For one thing, those places are adults only, so whoever decides to drink or work there is doing so out of their own free will. Another problem I have with smoking bans is that they seem to be mostly supported by people who are just plain annoyed by smoke, not those that actully think they are being adversely affected by second-hand smoke. Wake up Ohioans, do you think sucking down auto fumes on your long commute to work is healthy? Did you know that Ohio has the WORST air quality of ALL the states in the Union??? Bottom line is I say individual bar owners should have the right to choose whether or not to go smoke-free. If the demand really is there, like some people claim, you'll see smokeless bars springing up all over the place. And as was mentioned before, unless smoking bans are state wide or region wide, it will hurt local businesses.- CLEVELAND - Pinnacle update!
Now here's a view I could live with: and this one: Now that's a penthouse!!!!- Where you went to school, what do you do?
I graduated from The Ohio State University (1999) with a BS in Civil Engineering. I currently work in Columbus as a Transportation Engineer.- CLEVELAND - Pinnacle update!
