  1. When I'm in London I always stay at the New Atlantic Hotel in Paddington/Bayswater. Right across the street from the hotel is the Cleveland Arms Pub! I had WAY too many pints of English ale there.

^ I don't think you are Skybus' target audience. I think they are going for people like me who don't normally look to the airport when it comes time to travel.
  5. ^I can't wait to see them! I was driving on OH-444 from Riverside to Fairborn last weekend and saw the road construction taking place at Kauffman Road which should make it easier to get to the Air Force Museum.

Skybus' cheap-ticket sales soar 60,000 sold first day despite some glitches Wednesday, April 25, 2007 3:29 AM By Marla Matzer Rose THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Skybus Airlines got off to a fast start during its first day of business yesterday, selling 60,000 one-way tickets by 5 p.m. The Columbus airline, which will start flying May 22, is using a low-fare strategy that includes offering $10 fares for at least 10 seats on every flight. "We booked flights today for Boston, Richmond, Kansas City, San Francisco and Seattle," Bexley resident Arlene Armstrong said in an e-mail to The Dispatch. "The total cost for 10 tickets was only $399. What a deal!" There will be more where that came from. At a news conference yesterday morning to officially announce routes and fares, Skybus CEO Bill Diffenderffer said the airline plans to add seven more routes from Columbus within the next several weeks, bringing the total to 15 routes before the end of the year. Can this car-crazy city be a taxi town, too? Officials hope to boost residents' use of cabs Monday, March 26, 2007 3:36 AM By Robert Vitale THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH More than 120,000 people work in Downtown Columbus. None of them hailed a cab outside one of the city's biggest office buildings during Friday's lunch hour. To the chagrin of city officials and civic boosters who've long envisioned a city of outstretched arms, we're just not a taxi-taking kind of town. "We're in love with our cars," said Larry James, a Columbus lawyer who led a 2000 task force to breathe life into the local cab industry. "There has to be some compelling reason not to drive. You don't walk out and say, 'Let's just hail a cab.' " Two new groups studying the cab system in Columbus hope once again to raise its profile, and not just for out-of-towners and people heading to the airport. 10. WOW! I don't know what to say. I'm sorry you took offense to my comments, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Like I said my family's roots are tied deeply with Gallipolis, so I've always had a special place in my heart for her. Gaul is what the Roman's called their territory in what is now France, so Gaul and France are kind of interchangeable.

My mom went to Point Pleasant High School (WVa.) home to the Big Black Knights which was often shortened to just Big Blacks. Can you imagine a bunch of rednecks at a football game yelling "Go Big Blacks!"

After the thrashing the Lady Buckeyes took from Purdue during the Big Ten Tournament, I doubt OSU will make it to the finals. :-(

  17. If you're working in Microstation V7 then you'll have to set your global origin (based on what county you're looking at), but if you're in V8 then it doesn't matter
  18. We use those maps all the time at work. We mostly use them for showing project locations on out title sheets. I wish I had Microstation V8 and GeoPak on my home computer so I could do some work here instead of in the office, guess that makes me a "Wannabe Nerd"

  20. Even West Virginia grew faster than Ohio over the past year....could be worse though, we could be Michigan :-o
  21. Ohio population barely rises in 2006 Dayton Business Journal - 1:26 PM EST Friday Ohio showed anemic population growth in 2006, adding about 7,300 people, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Friday. As of July 1, 2006, the bureau estimates that the population grew to about 11.48 million from 11.47 million at the same point in 2005. This amounts to an increase of 0.1 percent. Nationally, Arizona pushed ahead of Nevada as the fastest-growing state on a percentage basis. The following states gained the most on a percentage basis: - Arizona, 3.6 percent; - Nevada, 3.5 percent; - Idaho, 2.6 percent; - Georgia, 2.5 percent; and - Texas, 2.5 percent. When measured by the number of new residents, Texas led the country, adding more than 579,000, outstripping Florida, which added 321,697. Other gainers included: - California, 303,400; - Georgia, 231,390; and - Arizona, 213,300. Louisiana, Washington D.C. and Rhode Island lost population last year.
  22. The U.S. Census Bureau has released their 2006 State Population Estimates, alas, I don't have excel so I can't see the whole list :x Could someone post the whole list on here? Until then here are some tidbits: Louisiana Loses Population; Arizona Edges Nevada as Fastest-Growing State Louisiana's population totaled 4.3 million on July 1, 2006, down nearly 220,000 from one year earlier, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. The state lost almost 5 percent of its pre-Hurricane Katrina population during the course of the year. During the previous one-year period (July 1, 2004 to July 1, 2005), Louisiana's population had grown by 12,000 to 4.5 million. (See Table 1.) Texas gained more people than any other state between July 1, 2005 and July 1, 2006 (579,275). Florida and California followed, gaining 321,697 and 303,402, respectively. Rounding out the top five states were Georgia (231,388) and Arizona (213,311). (See Table 2.) Meanwhile, Arizona was the nation's fastest-growing state over the period, breaking Nevada’s grip on the title, with its population rising 3.6 percent. Nevada ranked second this time,as its population climbed by 3.5 percent, followed by Idaho (2.6 percent), Georgia (2.6 percent) and Texas (2.5 percent). (See Table A below.) The South and West again monopolized the list of fastest-growing states with Utah, North Carolina, Colorado, Florida and South Carolina rounding out the top 10. Colorado and South Carolina replaced Delaware and Oregon on the list this year. According to the estimates, California remains the most populous state with a population of 36.5 million on July 1, 2006. Rounding out the top five states were Texas (23.5 million), New York (19.3 million), Florida (18.1 million) and Illinois (12.8 million). Other highlights: - North Carolina replaced New Jersey as the 10th most populous state. - The Northeast region grew by only 62,000 people. In contrast, the South grew by 1.5 million and the West by 1 million. The Midwest added 281,000 people. - The West was the fastest-growing region, with its population climbing by 1.5 percent. The South followed (1.4 percent), with the Midwest third (0.4 percent) and the Northeast fourth (0.1 percent). - The South now accounts for 36 percent of the nation’s total population, with the West comprising 23 percent, the Midwest 22 percent and the Northeast 18 percent.
  23. "The final score of 42-39 ended up being lucky numbers for more than just the Buckeyes. The Ohio Lottery will pay out a total of about $2.2 million to lottery players after 4-2-3-9 were chosen as the Pick 4 numbers in a drawing shortly after the game ended." CRAZY!
  24. • It is true that the late Ohio State coach Woody Hayes, who did more to pump up the negative feelings in the rivalry than any man, refused to fill up his car in the state of Michigan. "I'll tell you why we don't," Hayes said, according to the seminal book, "Woody Hayes and the 100-Yard War." "It's because I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan. We'll coast and push this goddam car to the Ohio line before I give this state a nickel of my money!" • It is true that Hayes sometimes bunked his team in Toledo on the night before a game in Ann Arbor so the Buckeyes could sleep on Ohio ground. That's why we love Woody Hayes!
