  1. well that and their coach sh*t his pants on national TV while playing OSU.
  2. Are most Penn Staters more anti-Buckeyes than they are anti-Wolverines or are the two teams equally disliked?
  3. Don't count Mary Jo Kilroy out yet! Deborah Pryce is claiming victory with her slim lead, but there are still 20,000 absentee/provisional ballots left to count.
  4. From the above mentioned website: November 11 Citizens for Civic Renewal — a Greater Cincinnati organization working on regional cooperation hosts a panel presentation followed by a Q&A session and small group discussion. Rookwood Tower, 10 am-noon, 3805 Edwards Road.

I haven't seen the news since this story broke, so I'm a little behind on the reaction to Kerry's comment. What political scientist are calling his comments a parody? Which Democrats are calling for Kerry to apologize?

They are now overlooking blights on a candidate's criminal record, e.g. drug charges. RiverViewer were you this upset during the 2004 Presidential election when Kerry's military record was called into question? Did you feel that the Republican party was insulting every decorated veteran when they down played Kerry's own war medals? Where is the outrage over Bush's failed war plan? Where is the outrage over the lack of a winning exit strategy? I thought Kerry's response to the GOP attacks on him yesterday was right on. “If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did. I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have. The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor. Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

If the Army is getting nothing but the best and the brightest of our educational system why did they have to recently lower their admission standards? Just because they are getting more of their recruits from the middle class doesn't mean they are getting the straight A students. It was common knowledge at my high school that those of us who worked hard at school went straight on to college, those that slacked off and didn't have the grades to get academic based scholarships had to rely on the military to pay for their education. My own father partied his way out of college, so he joined the Air Force as a last resort, which he wound up making a 23 year career out of.
  8. Great quote. Didn't Washington warn us about political parties in his farewell address? This has nothing to do with political parties, but last week I was checking out the McKinley Monument at the statehouse downtown and was struck by the quote on the base of the statue: "Let us ever remember that our interest is in concord, not conflict; and that our real eminence rests in the victories of peace, not those of war."
  9. Sweet! I have to use the 1922 map occasionally at work when I'm writting legal descriptions for right of way takes. I'll have to pass along the link to the newer map to my boss!
  10. Does the crane that is currently at the project site look tall enough to finish the tower? It seems like the much smaller Arena Crossing apartments had a much larger crane. :?
  11. Interesting to say the least. Wonder what the updated timeline is for the Buggyworks project Phase 2....

  15. Looks great! I know UA has a great polymer program, but what else is it known for? What are UA's biggest majors? Even though I graduated from OSU, I still get a kick out of seeing Ohio's other universities expanding their facilities and improving their repuatations because the OU's, UT's, UC's, UA's, etc are so important to Ohio's future.

The older "roundabouts" mentioned (troy, somerset, etc) are Traffic Circles which aren't the same as a roundabout. If you live or work in Dublin, you better get used to them because the City Engineer loves them and there are several being designed right now. I'm designing the roundabout at Avery Road and Tuswell Drive (between Shier-Rings and Woerner-Temple). The longterm plan for Avery Road is to have a roundabout at all three of the above stated intersections. Dublin is also looking to place roundabouts at the ends of the exit ramps coming off of US33.
  17. They've been advertising the Hartman Condos heavily in The Other Paper so I think it's done. The project website offers some video tours: http://www.hartmanlofts.com/videotour/
  18. ^When it comes to Stebbins Football, you take what you can get. I don't think the Indians have fielded a decent team since 1995.
  19. When I first saw how low my home school district, Mad River Local, was on the list I felt ashamed, but then I remembered how we kicked C-J's ass on the football field my Senior year so now I feel much more gooder. Go Indians! I wonder how this list compares to a "Percentage of Non-African-Americans" or an "Average Household Income" list. I suspect it would look about the same with Trotwood-Madison and Dayton keeping it real at the bottom of the lists.
  20. Great news that is made even better by the fact that this company is moving in from out of state instead of just from one of Cleveland's suburbs.
