Time for a SPRING pictures thread
Nice shots everyone! Thanks for posting them. Here's one more that's similar to the one at the top of the thread.

Which small Ohioan towns are worth visiting?
I say people should visit Delaware... um, just because. I don't know what one would do there, but I think it's a cute town. Okay, bias speaking. There is that Arts Festival in May, whatever it is; and that Little Brown Jug race.

a wheatfield in battery park city?
That's a really interesting photo! Are we sure it's not the edge of Manhattan, Kansas?

Time for a SPRING pictures thread
Ah, I'd forgotten about that thread- very beautiful! Is it too late now for all those nice flowers this year? If so, I hope somebody got some pictures. I know we've already seen a few spring pictures from Cincinnati this year, so hopefully people will come by here and repost them. I have a few from Cincy last year, too... don't feel like searching for the thread, so here they are.

Time for a SPRING pictures thread
Why not? People seemed to have nice things to show for autumn and winter, and now it's springtime! First smartass to post a metal coil as a "spring" picture is going straight to hell. I don't have much for this season yet, but here are a couple from this morning. It was the first day of the season for the weekly Farmers' Market in Madison. Random crowd picture: Still awaiting some of the greenery here as you can see, but we're almost there! Let's see what you've got!

You should be sick of this by now: yet another part of Madison (south campus)
My mom is something of a FLW fan; maybe I'll see Taliesin when she visits sometime. There are of course a few FLW houses in town... nothing especially famous I think, but I'll have to get a picture or two. One is in a neighborhood that's on my list for the near future. Actually I think I mentioned the neighborhood in this thread. And I read that he did some of the grunt work on my dear Science Hall as an apprentice of the architect who designed it.

Photography/Photoshop tips and tricks?
^ Beautiful bridge shots! I prefer to do the RAW files for night shots pretty much for reasons you stated. But of course there's the file size trade-off, so often I have to give up on RAW in order to not run out of space on my memory card. With daytime pictures I don't bother because the normal jpegs usually look just fine.

Cincinnati Aerials: Part II
We need a donation drive to purchase an UrbanOhio airplane, and pilot training for someone (unless we have a member here who is a pilot). Then we can do aerial tours whenever we want!

View of Downtown Columbus
Very nice! I like how the river is so still and reflective. What is the building at the bottom left, in shadow?

"URBAN OHIO" State license plate - Lets see your ideas
^ Well, message-wise it's not much different from "Erie... Our Great Lake" or "Cincinnati Reds." It just states what the plate is supposed to support. I would prefer something a little more clearly specific to Ohio, though. "America's Great Cities" could be taken to mean cities all over the country.

At one time, the second most dense city, next to Manhattan...
That picture is on Jake Mecklenborg's site (cincinnati-transit.net) and he has labeled it as late 1950s. I'd be interested to know where that picture comes from, actually.

Ohioans head for exit
^ Those numbers are just net migration. When you factor in natural increase (i.e. births), there is an overall gain, for Cincinnati anyway.

STICKY: What do you want to see???
Nah, no need to go nuts with Flash I'd think... just thought I'd toss it out there. So will just jpegs work, then? I'll come up with a set of them- maybe one for each section of the state to show the cities and towns, and some for the cities to show the neighborhoods, and maybe some metro ones for those that have "suburbs" sections. As far as neighborhoods, I know of pretty detailed boundaries for Dayton and Cincinnati, and I seem to recall a site that had some for Toledo. The other cities may have some more general maps available, although I have never seen any kind of neighborhood map of Columbus. But presumably those who actually took the photos in those cities would know approximately where to place a label or something. Anyway, I'll try to make something nice. Again, though, not right away. After this semester ends will be good.

STICKY: What do you want to see???
Wow... forgot about that. Yeah, I can make maps (not immediately, but in a few weeks), if you know what kind of look would be good. Although there's still that problem of the lack of information of neighborhoods, unless some people would be able to draw approximate boundaries from knowledge. Would you just want a simple image that you can then do your hyperlink magic on? I'm getting good at interactive maps in Flash, but that's probably overkill. I can really actually do in less than a year this time, I promise! :-D
