Ah, thanks. After checking, I think it's actually a different thing that I had been wondering about.

Great find! I'm going to have to download all these maps. This kind of information is sometimes hard to come by because unlike nearly every other demographic attribute, you can't get it from the census.
  3. Weirdos! :-D I am a native Ohioan, but I'm descended from east coasters (plus my basic vocabulary-learning years were actually in the D.C. area), and to this day I have not picked up a number of the Midwest versions of things. Especially "pop". May God drop a grand piano on my head if I ever say "pop" instead of "soda"! But I'm straying from the topic... by all means, resume the pizza debate.
  4. Is that a reference to his east coast vocabulary? Is there a different Midwest word for "cold cuts"?

    ^ Sure thing!

Great shots, everyone! Time for the latest installment from Madison. We had a decent snowfall today, probably four inches. And we already had about 5 inches on the ground before that, so we've got a very nice blanket covering the ground now. Here are some photos from this evening. Tilty... As usual, there will be some photos of the capitol. I can't keep away from it! Snow in spotlights! Footprints Merry Generic Winter Holiday! Also par for the course, I took a picture looking down State Street. Hey, look, another guy is doing that too! Stair snow! One day I should do a tour of my little sub-neighborhood, Mansion Hill. (Go ahead, guess what characterizes the area.) For now, here are two places a couple doors down from me. If you can read the sign, you'll see that this one is an inn. It's one of the only old mansions here that hasn't been turned into apartments. That's all until the next storm!

Nice find! A couple of those Fountain Square photos show the bottom of that monument I was wondering about in another thread a little while ago. Does anyone know what it is?
  8. Here's the discrepancy: monte's map is Winding Creek Lane; this house (according to articles) is on Winding Creek Court, which is just outside the Mason city limits. So Deerfield Twp. is correct, although you might as well just say Mason.
  9. Beautiful indeed.

    Those are damn beautiful shots!
  11. That video is so two weeks ago! :-P
  12. Awesome... didn't know there was a Chinatown in Cleveland.

Make with the '78 photos! Here are some random winter photos from my considerably younger archives IceFest in Hamilton, January 2003 I believe: I think this is a dragon... really hard to tell in the picture. Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Curse cheap photo developing for cutting off the top of this one and the next one! :x Moving on, killer icicles around the same time. And one from Ohio Wesleyan after that February storm in 2003. Skip back a couple months to Christmas 2002 in New Jersey. And why not... a scene in Boston shortly thereafter.
  14. ColDay, a couple of your suggestions did make the number 2 or 3 spots for their categories.

    Impressive!

When a fog blows in off the lake and it's six degrees below zero outside... You're supposed to get a bit of snow in Ohio soon... we'd better see some more pictures!
  18. Magyar, I don't understand... what does this do to stop the northward march of Columbus?
  19. The column in which you were quoted... what was it about?
  20. Hang on, El Meson is not just a Mexican restaurant.
  21. Yeah, everyone knows the authentic urban feel is at Easton.
  22. Actually, I'm impressed with those comments, in that most of them are not of the typical Cincinnati-bashing stock. That is, they're bitching about city leaders rather than carrying on about how Cincinnati is a hellhole that can never be saved, and so on. As usual some of them are stupid, but for the rest, I can't blame people for being frustrated by this continued nonsense (which I don't even comprehend due to not following it closely.) Maybe in 20 years they can abandon The Banks in a special centennial celebration of the demise of the rapid transit loop.
  23. Everything in southern Delaware County bothers me to no end. If people wanted a town center, maybe they should have thought of that before sprawling to hell first. Or, to take another angle... defend the sanctity of downtown! America's traditional downtowns are being threatened by activist townships and their contrived downtowns! It is time to circulate petitions for an amendment to protect the institution of Downtown!
  24. ^ Well, good thing we're starting that new city! Wait, did you mean real employment?

Ooh, warm. That last one looks like it is spelling some secret message. Actually, I don't need fire... I've got free heat! (Well, maybe not exactly "free"... I'm sure it's factored into the rent.) Still, I will think of your fire tomorrow when then high temperature will be only 15.
