I haven't thought long and hard about it, but wouldn't if be just sunrise on one day (in the SE in May) and just sunset (in the NW in July) on the other? Whatever the case, though, it's a nice rarity!

Super cool! There must be a gazillion good places for a shot of this, but at a rate of twice per year, I don't suppose one person could hit them all. Anyway, nice picture there, especially with the people and their long shadows.

In late May/early June I ventured westward from Wisconsin with a couple of friends. Much of the trip was not about cities, but here are a few shots of the urban destinations. We really just breezed through a lot of places, so there's not much of any one place. Denver - First stop. The bulk of our day here was spent drinking, not taking photos. But here's the view from my friend's stepbrother's condo. Pano --> Salt Lake City - Looked at the temple and capitol and then left. Portland - A couple of days later. We just spent a morning here, but I must say the downtown was surprisingly not lively for a place that's supposed to be so cool. I'll chalk it up to not knowing the cool spots and it being Memorial Day, I guess. Seattle - Although we did spend a bit more time here, I didn't take that many pictures. Well, whatever. I like this place, though. Pano 1 --> Pano 2 --> Vancouver - Had no idea what the hell to do here, so we wandered a bit in a few places. Pano the first --> Pano the second. Same spot, in the dark. --> And that'll do. Lots of other pictures, but they're all the non-city stuff. Perhaps another time...

I don't know what category cartography would fall under, but then it's not a real field anyway.

Nice work. As the guy from Beavercreek, I guess I should say something. The place is mostly inoffensive to me (it is home, after all), but the thing I don't like is that it's pretty much pure suburbia apart from Alpha, as mentioned above. A lot of other 'burbs at least formed around some town, which gives them some character. Beavercreek is just... blah.

Such wonderful shots as always! I like the nighttime ones best.

Went to San Francisco last week with all the other geographers in the universe. Naturally there are photos, although there's not much variety. I didn't really get much in the way of neighborhood pictures and even spent one three-mile walk without taking any photos at all. But whatever. It was a nice time! I'll start with this one as an overview, but the rest are just in chronological order.
