Over-the-Rhine: Central Parkway, Broadway Commons
"One idea is to establish a theme such as "Presidential Parkway" to celebrate all of the Ohio Presidents. The physical components of the Presidential Parkway would be the re-creation of the two eastern most islands that were removed in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The improvements would consist of landscaping these islands, planting major street trees on both sides or flanks of the parkway and the addition of monuments or sculptures at the ends of the islands commemorating the Ohio Presidents." This is pretty much exactly what I had in mind. Again, whats currently going on in OTR is great but if you want to make continued changes for the better and I'm talking about permanant changes that will literally transform Cincinnati foreever, Central Parkway is a big piece, probably 2nd only to the Street car. As for the presidents Parkway, some kind of monument theme on each island is exactly what I had in mind. I actually thought of doing a mini monument to each Sister City i.e. somethig oon Munich, something on Rome, thsi way it would give Cincy more of a global feel. I feel like CIncy has enough monuments dedicated to presidents. Just my idea though.

Over-the-Rhine: Central Parkway, Broadway Commons
I think the rebirth of OTR is very exciting to watch as it progreses. The emergence of the Gateway Quarter is simply tremendous and I'm sure Washington Park will be something special as well. I t do think a key for OTR to truly connect with downtown as a primary and appealing resedential area for downtowners, something has to be done w/ Centra Parkway. Central PArkway is the gateway to OTR from downtown and vice versa and lets be honest; it is a very dumpy street. Without even spending to much money, the street should be redone o.e. widen the median a bit and spruce it up ala PArk Avenue in Manhattan. http://images1.comstock.com/Imagewarehouse/RF/SITECS/NLWMCompingVersions/0016000/16500-16999/KS16535.JPG The sidewalks could be redone making it a tree lined blvd and if you wanted to get a little snazzy, you could do a paver style street alla Grant Street in Pittsburgh.

Cincinnati: Is there a 2% extra income tax if you live in Hyde Park or Mt Lookout?
perhaps this person was discussing why they live in a suburb outside of the city i.e. Terrace Park. If that is the case, I understand that taxes in the city are more expensice. I jst wanted to make sure that other than the higher city tax, there is no additional higher taxes in these areas.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
LesterLyles replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI tell ya one thing. Downtown is really getting a nice variety of restaurants .e. Mexican, Brazilian, Italian, BBQ and seafood right on the square (not to mention Palaminos). Plus there ae several restaurants on neighbhoring streets that are very good. Is Rockwell's still going to be there is that where Cadillac Ranch is going?

LesterLyles replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMax: the litter/noise things is unique w/ football/drinking/tailgating. Even if Cincy had a pro hoops team that had 41 home games, you would not get that type of disturbance at such an event. Given the type of events US Bank arena holds now, I don't think there would be too much of a nuisance to the area. I think it would help the area as far as a development quite a bit and it be a great addition to the massive parking eyesore.

LesterLyles replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAs an idea, do you ever think they would tear down that monstrosity on the river that is USBank Arena and build Cincy a new arena in Broadway commons? Such a project could solve 2 goals of reviving that specific area as well clearing a little bit of the stadim/arena clutter along the river. Think about it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I can't believe how picky and downright difficult some of you posters are. Given the fact that there is nothing but parking in the current spot right now, I think it is so exciting that such a plan has a good chance of commencing later this year. Some of you guys make it seem like they presented a plan with mudhuts. I mean I've heard more complaints b/c the plans appraentlyseems to be one small surface lot (it appears very small). Geez obviously its not perfect but generally speaking, these plans are really really impressive.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Special interest groups are so counter-productive, its ridiculous. As far as the design, what is directly underneath/below the 2 restaurants? Is that a watwerfall or fountain. it looks like something interesting but I cannot make out what it is.

"And I still don't get why the whole thing needs to be built all at once by one developer. " I agree, there would a lot of ,moey to gain by auctioning fthe land by different lots or developing in different stages.

LesterLyles replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionCount me in as someone that isn't too enthusiastic about the Ihop. Mcdonalds is finer (I think it is a must for every downtown) but an Ihop isn't exactly the kind of place I had in mind even for a 24 hour place. Attracts a lot of riff raff.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Count me in as someone who thinks a Lytle Park idea is brilliant. In fact it would be a true centrally located downtown park which I think is something Cincy needs and it means that they wouldn't have to use amuch if of the Banks actual property for park space since it will already have ben built over the highway.

The bridge below is from just outside Lucca, Italy.- Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?
I drove down 4th stret in December going West and I saw some very trendy windows and shops...didn't seem to empty or vacated. Did I drink too much that night or are there actually nice looking store fronts there? - Bridges across the world
