Well, based on past performance, that might not be the best investment. Maybe the third time will be a charm.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayton_Warbirds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayton_Bulldogs This blog actually had a picture of how few people actually went to Dayton Bulldog games... And actually there already is a third attempt at arena football in the Miami Valley, this one in Troy.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_Valley_Silverbacks
  2. Its nice to see some relics the "golden era" of Ohio's industrial past still alive and working. Also, I can't love the town of Cass too much, because Cass & Mower Lumber Company eventually became part of the West Virginia Paper and Pulp Company (Westvaco), the company that stole Mead from Dayton. The damn Luke family.

Wow! That's the first that I've seen interior shots from the Kuhns Building. I had heard it was pretty cool inside, but wow! I love it. Now I can't wait to see what they do to the Schwind Building.

Preservation expert buys third downtown building By Lisa Bernard Staff Writer Friday, March 02, 2007 DAYTON — The downtown property owner, preservationist and Oakwood businessman who breathed new life into the Fourth Street Kuhns Building has purchased the Schwind Building on Ludlow, according documents from the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. The 25-27 Ludlow street building was placed on the auction block on Feb. 9, with Robert Shiffler coming in as the highest bidder at $230,000, according to court documents. In 2006 Shiffler and his wife Nancy were recognized by Preservation Dayton for their renovation of the Kuhns/Chemineer Building. The couple is now amid restoring the McCrory's Building on Main Street, which is expected to be complete at the end of the year. The couple has said the total cost of acquisition and restoration for McCrory's will be about $1.5 million. Read More...

That's what someone told me, but according to the link below, it looks like they must be wrong http://consumerist.com/consumer/how-to/how-to-know-if-your-compusa-is-getting-liquidated-240139.php

When my partner and I went to DC a few years ago, we got a really great rate (I'm talking like $60 a night) at the Hotel Rouge on Priceline, but Priceline can be pretty hit or miss. We had a great experience with the hotel and it was even better because it was just a short walk from Dupont Circle and the Metro station there.
  8. I haven't been over this way in awhile...does anyone know if anything is happening? Is the hotel under construction? Here are some more renderings/graphics that I came across... Here is a link to a larger version of the previous graphic
  9. Also, it looks like they added a Cincinnati - Columbus route. EDIT: So from Columbus, it looks like one route will go Columbus - Cincinnati - Indianapolis - Chicago and the other one will go Columbus - Indianapolis - Chicago
  10. But still no Dayton area stop :-( ....even though the Columbus bus has to pass by Dayton on the way to Indy. Although my experience with Megabus was quite pleasant, I've heard a few people (students) who have taken it lately and had bad experience with the bus breaking down, heat not working, and the bus being extremely late. Although these things will always be issues for any bus company, it seems like I've heard people complaining about these problems more often, so hopefully they aren't too widespread.
  11. Great stuff, Jeff. The movie really got me thinking about transit in Dayton so this information is not only fascinating in its own right, but also very timely. Grassroots Greater Dayton held a screening of it as a fundraiser. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=11779.0
  12. From the City of Dayton... Tech Town Building Construction Moves Forward No link for article

Since you were saying that your apartment looks like Detroit, I thought the image of the room on the computer screen was supposed to be representative of the Ren Center....a self contained city within the city kinda thing....

I submitted my request. As xumelanie said, the prices are good. Trader Joe's is owned by the same very rich German family that owns Aldi. Although the two carry two completely different product lines, many of their practices such as emphasis on store brand products and low prices are the same.

^ Funny you should mention that....Boston Stoker was actually my first stop! Thanks for the comments, all.
  17. I grew up on a farm in west central Ohio, so those pictures remind me of home. Thanks for sharing!
  18. While I lived in Cincinnati a few years ago, I did have a couple of bad experiences with derogatory remarks and actions by others. But really, Cincinnati is a fantastic place to live and has so much to offer, so I wouldn't let a few closed-minded people ruin that.
  19. City's pedestrian layout desirable for streetcars Cincinnati Business Courier - February 16, 2007by Dan MonkSenior Staff Reporter It's no longer a question of whether to build a streetcar, but where. The lead consultant for the city of Cincinnati's three-month-old rail study said there is little doubt that Cincinnati is a "good candidate" for a streetcar system. "You've got a great downtown already, with a lot of important destinations that people want to reach," said Charles Hales, a Portland, Ore.-based consultant for HDR Inc.

Sadly, I don't think it is just a Muncie thing. The Klan has a pretty strong history in Indiana and the Indiana State Library has quite a collection of material on the subject. http://www.statelib.lib.in.us/www/isl/indiana/Klan.html
  23. ^ Yeah, that is what a friend of mine who is an engineer for a supplier of semi and heavy equipment manufacturers said. He said 2006 was a crazy year for his company because those who purchase heavy equipment moved up their orders. A lot of equipment that would have ordinarily been purchased in 2007 was purchased in 2006 instead to beat the higher costs associated with the new regulations. In fact, he said some of their customers were skipping the 2007 regulations altogether and just going to the next stricter regulations that are set to go into effect in a few years in an effort to avoid these fluctuations in supply and demand in a few years.
