Reds sign veteran starter Fogg Right-hander agrees to one-year deal worth $1 million By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com SARASOTA, Fla. -- For the Reds' younger rotation candidates, their chances of landing a starting spot just got harder. Free agent right-hander Josh Fogg signed a one-year, $1 million contract. The 31-year-old had talked with the Reds off and on throughout the winter before finally reaching a deal. "It heated up here the last couple of weeks," Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky said. "Looking at the board of who was available, we thought he'd be a good fit." Fogg was able to make the short drive to Sarasota from his home in Tampa and finalize his contract after he passed a physical. Read more at www.mlb.com

I cant wait to see how they do against the Red Sox and Indians. I think it will be a good preview of how well they could do in the playoffs. For anyone that cares, Joe Nuxhall didn't recieve the Ford Frick award for the second straight year.

Veteran Wilson inks Minor League deal Oufielder/first baseman invited to Spring Training with Reds By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com CINCINNATI -- The Reds clubhouse at Spring Training added one more veteran to the fold with Saturday's signing of outfielder/first baseman Craig Wilson to a Minor League contract. Wilson's deal comes with an invite to big league camp. He is no stranger to the National League Central, having spent 2001-06 with the Pirates. The 31-year-old also played with the Yankees in 2006 and spent '07 in the Braves and White Sox organizations. Wilson has spent the majority of his career playing either first base or right field. The Reds currently have lefty hitters Joey Votto and Scott Hatteberg at first base, but if recent rumors that Votto could be dealt for pitching are true, this latest transaction could be a precursor to another move. Report: Reds, A's discuss Blanton Oakland seeking two top prospects in return for right-hander By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com CINCINNATI -- It appears the Reds are still trying to make improvements heading into the final week before Spring Training. Foxsports.com first reported Thursday that the Reds are still interested in acquiring A's starting pitcher Joe Blanton, and the Cincinnati Enquirer reported on Friday that there have been talks with Oakland. A deal did not seem imminent however. According to the Enquirer, which did not cite a source for its story, the A's are seeking a package that could involve at least two top Reds prospects. That might mean first baseman Joey Votto or pitchers Homer Bailey and/or Johnny Cueto. Read more at www.mlb.com

I was in Wal Mart one day reading some baseball mag and they predicted the Reds to be 5th in the NL Central this year. I cant believe the expectations are really that low! I can see at least a little bit of improvement over last year.

  22. Wyldwood delays property closings By OWEN McNEILL, Staff Writer Thursday, January 31, 2008 In a meeting called late Thursday with local government officials and members of the media, representatives with Wyldwood Kentucky, LLC explained the delay in property closings for the mammoth project. In the meeting, Jim Barry and Tom VanGalder, representatives of project developers explained that no closings would take place Thursday as they had planned earlier. Property closings on a few of the residential parcels were initially scheduled for Jan. 28, but were pushed back to Thursday. 31. At that time, developers hoped to close the bulk amount of properties, all in one day. With Thursday's announcement also came word that a 30-day extension was being requested by the developers to correct and overcome environmental concerns. Initial plans for the proposed $500 million resort community in eastern Mason County consists of four property assemblages including a 2,040-acre hunting preserve with lodge and cabins along Clarks Run Road, a 76-acre marina and RV park on the Ohio River, 2,694 acres for a Hilltop Village property located off Stonelick Road and Kentucky 9, and the long-closed White Manor Hotel in downtown Maysville, which will be restored as closely to its original condition as possible. By mid-September, a residential community development project was announced by Maysville native Barry, who recently returned to the area, along with Tom VanGalder of Atlanta, Ga., Realtor Bill Kachler also worked to help secure local property. By late November, the project had a name; Wyldwood Kentucky. 24. Maysville Riverpark would be located in Wyldwood trade By OWEN McNEILL, Staff Writer Thursday, January 24, 2008 In a special meeting Thursday, Maysville City Commission approved a resolution concerning a developmental option for the Maysville Riverpark. The resolution calls for the exploration of a land trade which would enable the Wyldwood development team to purchase the current Maysville Riverpark and develop that property into a marina for the private use of the proposed Wyldwood Development in exchange for similar facilities constructed on the old landfill property which is just east of the current riverpark. In essence, the developers will receive the Riverpark property for use in the proposed multimillion dollar development project primarily for its location if, and only if, they develop similar amenities for the public on the old landfill property. The new city property will include a enclosed pavilion structure as well. MORE: http://www.maysville-online.com
