  1. $75 was what it was at the Freedom Center (which was sold out for monthly parkers), so I doubt they would lower it (despite the added supply). the thing is, the Reds really jack up the price for parking beneath GABP during events....the Freedom Center not quite so much. Hopefull the new spaces will hew more to Freedom Center price structure.
  2. Kind of interesting...they have taken down the construction walls in the two levels of parking below GABP. Although there is a plastic fence type of barrier up now, you can see all the way west in the garage now. That is one mammoth parking space.
  3. That quote/unquote video gave me a headache. Someone filmed a powerpoint presentation with their iPhone.
  4. They're just finishing up the pour for the last of the elevated portion of the Central Riverfront Park....the Schmidlap Events lawn (maybe we could call it the Jacob?). That essentially completes the street-level platform...including the slight stepdown for Ale house and event lawn.
  5. They should sod a vacant lot and direct them there. Throw some benches in etc. Much easier for cops to monitor as well
  6. I sincerely hope you are right. From the presentation it appeared as though this was a major overhaul of the park with an underground garage that hasn't even seen any digging yet. That coupled with some outstanding questions on whether the park needed to stay partially open during construction made me wonder. Then again, I have no development experience, and I was pleasantly surprised when Queen City Square came up as quick as it did. Please Dear God tell me that the park will not remain open during construction.
  7. use of the phrase "unconditional green light" gives you a pretty good idea of the slant of the article. You could simply say "approve," but that wouldn't generate as much foaming fervor among the teabagging klavern.
  8. I'm not an urban design student, but I do know the blocks....for those that can't figure it out easily: The large photo at left is easiest. Looking down on Mercer commons, it is Vine running North/South on Left, Walnut on the right, and Mercer bisecting the Northern and Southern parcels. Directions are normal (North on top, South on bottom etc.). The Buddy Gray building is at the lower left corner of the lower interior square. Trinity Flats is the large white structure in the upper block fronting Vine. The large maroon building on Vine is that snazzy structure you see in the lower drawing to the right (which I understood was to be a garage). That view seems to be looking SE across the street, from a vantage point akin to the turret at the 14th and Vine building. But I agree it was not simple to read without the streets, particularly since they're employing different vantage points.
  9. I posted Bortz's piece on Enquirere Executive Editor Tom Callinan's Facebook page, just to keep the dialogue going. You do know that it now shows up in the online Opinion section of the Enq.
  10. Wrapping it all up in a bow with a Tom Luken quote was kind of the appropriate drool of icing on the faux-cake
  11. There is a Trust document in place that mandates the building be used for educational purposes. Not sure what the plan is to get around that.
  12. Who you calling a yuppie?
  13. The plans provide for a connection of the path past the steamboat memorial and a garden area in the greenspace.
  14. Soapbox article on CRP and Moerlein Lager House http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/0406moerleinrising.aspx
  15. you kind of scooped a small piece of my column for tomorrow....
  16. Vertical construction going up now on the southern block. They also did a big pour today of the eastern portion of the "event lawn" for CRP.
  17. looks like they are doing the crane jump right now
  18. has anyone addressed the fact that the entire spike in crime coincided with CPS spring break? Has anyone looked at the patterns regarding this? I know the "civil distrubance" of '01 coincided with spring break as well.
  19. Looked off our terrace yesterday....saw maybe three or so tiara pieces on top of the garage. Obviously they need quite a lot more before that thing is taking shape.
  20. Nice! I thought it was only going to be outside only. Wonderful incorporation of what looks to be a a classic 60's era pole lamp on the bar as well.
  21. I was wondering....is it still port-o-lets?

Soapbox shines the spotlight on North Avondale: http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/0316soapdishnorthavondale.aspx
  23. They are going to start the vertical build on the south pad beginning April 1. Also the southernmost segment they are working on new is actually the Walnut Street Event Lawn section of the Central Riverfront Park. The Easternmost portion of that is the Moerlein Lager House. Underneath the Walnut Street Lawn there will be the park offices and visitor's center, as well as the bike/mobility center. That, as well as the steps and water feature, will be done by next Spring (same goes for Moerlein). Also, that swath of greenspace between the Steamship Memorial and the park site will also be part of the park and the bike trail will run through that. There will also be a fountain feature and garden on that portion.
  24. This is all kinds of awesome. Any time you want to rob a downtown bank in broad daylight, make sure you have a large wing tattoo visible on your neck. Cross-post to "UO Stupid Criminals" thread.
