Moving Back to the 'Nati
I have bad experiences with both US Bank and 5th/3rd. The latter's "Jeannie" ATM machines are like something out of the Tron era (original Tron--not remake). Anecdotally, I also hear the most complaints about 5th/3rd. PNC has been pretty good.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
While I don't know about recently, when I was in Kindergarten my class took a field trip to the Zoo, and one of our parent drivers parked on street and had her car broken into in the middle of the day. Also, a drive up Burnett at just about any time of the day, any day of the week can be a bit nerve wracking. Definitely some issues over there, and further out into Avondale. While Scrabble apparently wasn't going to the Zoo, whoever the parent driver is that made edale and a bunch of kindergartners march through Avondale on a Bataan-style death march instead of paying the 2 or 3 bucks to park is a cheapskate and deserved a broken window.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Central Parkway YMCA isn't a state of the art facility but it is a nice gym. I really like the tiled 20 meter pool in the basement that displays a picture of the 1921 world swimming team champions. The Lord's Gym is right at the corner of Race and 12th. Perfect! I worked out there once and everyone was very supportive. Right. Could look into a group discount for UO members.

seems like a lot of cheapskates don't want to pay to park at the zoo. I've been going to the zoo for 6 years and never parked on the street. It's for a good cause, and you're not really saving a lot given the relatively low costs and inconvenience.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
They have a long way to go. They were working on it today, and I looked inside. Looks like all they have done so far is the demo work. But at least there was a team working on it.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
Police are opening a mini-station on Fountain Square in a small space next to Chipotle. Should be an announcement tomorrow.

Cincinnati: Prohibition Resistance Tour
Steve also noted that, although they sold over 600 tix and are sold out, they are going to start doing these more frequently and not just once a year. Clearly it is a good moneymaker. By the way, the views from the top floor of clyffside are very cool and a different vantage point than you typically see, especially if you go up that extra set of stairs where the top of that vat is. Looks like your second photo may have been taken from there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
If you haven't seen the Banks lately, it's really progressing quickly...and I mean, like, in the past week. It may not look as different from the ground, but from my office, where I see it every day, you get a real picture of how much progress is being made. They just did a big pour today on the SE quarter of the second floor. Moreover, other than the angled segment that will hold the Moerlein Ale house, the entire south block is clean, primed and ready to go. This thing is moving along.

Cincinnati - NEONS Unplugged would like to talk Beer for a moment...
Just want to go on record as saying Mt. carmel on tap does nothing for me. I know it's local, and we like to have the local beers in place and support them....but. meh. Has never been that impressive, IMHO. I know I was kind of disappointed when the Senate used one of their 8 taps for Mt. Carmel. I was like, "really"?

NEONS Unplugged needs your help on the Jukebox selections
I have every volume. And I disagree with your assessment. Wish I saw this thread sooner, but it appears the die has been cast. Trust me, it all went down hill after Ultra-Lounge, Vol. 1: Mondo Exotica. By the time they got to Ultra-Lounge, Vol. 11: Organs in Orbit they were just going through the motions. And if you laid down some of your hard earned money for Ultra-Lounge, Vol. 17: Bongo Land, well then I've got a bridge to sell you. I have Bongo Land. Organs in Orbit had some great ones, including a few choice cuts by former Tiger, convicted embezzler and Cy Young award winner Denny McClaim. Capitol provided them all gratis....during my swingin' DJ/MC days.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
For what part? This is the information I received from The Banks project team: "Weather permitting, crews at The Banks construction site downtown will pour concrete to complete the public parties construction of the developer’s podium, the platform upon which the retail, entertainment and housing venues will be built." And it actually was from 7am to 11am (not 8am). Looking out my window, I can tell you they did a big pour on the south (second) block, Western 25%, basically finishing it off. They are pouring a border wall now south of the Moerlein brewhouse platform. They also poured a big slab on the second floor of vertical construction on the north block, which is moving along quite nicely.

Cincinnati: Gambling away history
City law department is looking into it. Per City Hall--Problem with landmark Designation is that they already applied for demo permit (even if not yet awarded), so any subsequent Landmark designation will be insufficient to prevent a demolition. They are trying to work on alternative strategies. really, tho, public opinion and pressure in the right places is probably the only hope.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Lucky Step closed, but that was two spaces over. The space adjacent to Senate is very large and has never been leased out to date. Supposedly, that's where they were tring to get Melt to go, however that deal fell apart over $$$

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
Not sure why this would be so tricky a connection. Public Landing's "steamboat trail" extends West up to the memorial, followed by that odd, slightly triangular patch of green space which sits somewhat forlornly along the river (and from which the Reds launch fireworks). We have rented the pedal-powered devices in Yeatman's Cove many times, and the steamship memorial is our typical western turnaround, with Crystalline Tower at the East end of Ted Berry being the other. When Mehring Way is reconfigured to the North, that patch west of the steamboat memorial will no longer be locked in by the asphalt and will be the link between the memorial site and the CRP, connecting all of the parks. I doubt it's just going to continue to sit there in its current crabgrass and weedy state.
