Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I have read coverage in both the Enquirer and Urban Cincy regarding the ribbon cutting and future plans, however nobody has bothered to ask why the garage between Vine and Race sits several levels (or at least one) below street level. They did not do this with the Phase 1 garages. Any idea why it was "completed" in this manner, as it is aesthetically unsightly as a parking "pit." I understand that it could simply be a matter of money.

Speaking of Go COAST, I watched the GO Coast representative, Mr. Finney, enter his Twitter feed for COAST during the meeting. Specifically the part where he tweeted "Bunch of funny looking YP types with green trolley buttons." That was a particularly telling comment, as the majority of people that made the trip up were either Mr. Finney's age or older. In other words, a typical COAST lie from their co-founder, Anderson Twp. resident ("but I have an office in uh Cincinnati...") Chris Finney.

I just tried to access the article and it said "Forbidden." Never mind. I found it...but it certainly is buried.

I don't disagree with that statement, but I definitely think it would help the development. I was commenting more on the fact that not one of those interviewed, including the mayor, were quoted about the streetcar project running through the development. Now maybe no one in fact did say anything about the streetcar, but unfortunately the Enquirer does not have the benefit of the doubt in any mention of the streetcar and I am highly skeptical that if it was in fact mentioned that they would put it in print. I'm sure I am not alone in this thought. I know first hand that the streetcar was touted in interviews for the story, i.e. how it would tie everything together, etc. It was edited out. Not surprising given the naked bias at the Enquirer. The new editor is a lapdog-lackey for Mags Buchanan.

You ain't kidding. No one in this area knows Cincinnati is proposing a streetcar. My understanding is that Springboro was something of a Dayton suburb, which is what it says if you keep reading. In any event, the Dayton reference was, I believe, deleted yesterday. Rest easy Daytonians.

If you support the Cincinnati Streetcar project, please "like" the following Facebook page. In just a day it has generated over 400. We would like to get as many as possible over the next two weeks. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cincinnatians-for-the-Streetcar/119935501417838 Also, it may have been posted before, but does anyone have email addresses for the individual TRAC board members?

No offense taken. It's a subjective opinion piece rather than objective news. That said, it's really not that "sensationalist." That's just how I always write. Moreover, I think the facts...which are indeed difficult to believe, justify a heightened level of rhetoric.

It wasn't a poll of Courier subscribers. Anyone could vote. Moreover the business poll had such a small skewed sampling (as opposed to the 1,500) that it wasn't worth a mention. Not to mention the fact that the business "leaders" comments were woefully ignorant on the subject. The only one they quoted in the article was a LOGISTICS CEO from NKY. One could do an entire article on that portion of the poll, and talk to business leaders downtown and along the route. They might have a different opinion. Nevertheless space constraints would not allow for the exploration of a flawed and statistically meaningless "business leaders" poll.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
good quote from Matt Cullen of Rock Gaming re Casino and streetcar. He also admitted they have to hedge it a bit, as "we have friends on both sides." Smitherman has had his nose all up in the minority contracting aspect of casino construction. Interestingly enough, he was the only dignitary not in attendance whose name was called by Cullen. http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/0208soapdishbridgingbroadway.aspx

I am sure they will use it as an appropriate magnet to the front entrance, via green space and other landscaping elements. <y plan is to rebuild the canals around it's perimeter (the triangle represents the turnaround route for the canal boats), and re-build a recreational canal to Plum Street. We will segregate the water main in the subway so it has maintenance access points (and no longer needs to be moved, and this will alleviate the annual maintenance required on subway construction (corroded rebar, etc.). Fill the rest of the subway up with water and get out the gondolas.

I will be at the groundbreaking ceremony. They're expecting 165 local dignitaries and whatnot, so we will be in a heated tent at the corner of Broadway and Court.

The dance floor is still there. It's a great building, albeit HUGE, and will require a very deep pocketed investor to do something with it. The second level sub-basement is pretty cool. If House of Blues ever re-starts their expansion, this would be ideal for someone like them. See attached article: http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/55soapdishwhatliesbeneath.aspx

The brown "cladding" on QCS is actually part of the scaffolding where they are putting in the sign. As added news, they were dismantling the Banks tower crane today, using another, massive, mobile crane. Not completed yet.
