Cincinnati: Downtown - The McAlpin
Parking would be an issue....no one will pay to go to the grocery store. They would have to validate tickets or come up with some sort of plan. I am all for it though. But I also wouldn't mind a movie theatre somewhere downtown.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Edge
5chw4r7z, I noticed the front brick is up on Parker Flats this morning! They had two lanes blocked for the constructions. It won't be long and we will be neighbors....

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
^ I wonder if the hours of the grocery will be the same as Avril's? If so, that really doesn't help me out if they are not open in the evenings. Thank goodness for Walgreens!

VOTE HERE - Support Cincinnati Streetcars Sticker
I forgot to say "Thanks" to Hohum for the bumper stickers. He came through for us when we went to Park+Vine yesterday and they were sold out. I am glad there was such a positive response, though! Any future plans of printing T-shirts?

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Quote from Polly Campbell from the Enquirer today on The Foodie Report blog: "And speaking of fine dining: I think some of the speculation and gossip that's appeared in comments in earlier posts about the Jean-Robert French Restaurant group is a little overheated and premature. At least that's my conclusion after talking to those involved. I hate to see people pounding nails in a coffin before anyone's in it."

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
I stopped by there the other day and just walked in. I wanted to buy a giftcard for my hubby's birthday, and they were like come back in three weeks and we can sell you one. I was like no thanks, I can just take my business elsewhere. Not a great first impression. I mean I was willing to hand them $50 and they don't have the logistics set up to take it? The decor on the inside looked really great though. Maybe I will go in for a drink while I punish them for not selling me a giftcard. :)

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
I noticed a new restaurant yesterday on Court Street called The Caspian Express. It is only open for lunch. (Boo) Has anybody tried it? It looks to be Greek, I believe.

OTR Volunteer Ambassador Program
I put a posting on Craigslist to recruit volunteers and generate interest....anybody scene it and then forwarded to your friends? (hint hint) I think I am going to put another post under the "wanted" catergory. The first was under "volunteers".

Wasn't there a place coming to main street called MIXX that was supposed to be sushi? I think it was at main and 12th.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
I talked to the guys at Avril's yesterday and there is visible construction for the store/eating area that will be right next to their current location. He anticipates it being ready in 4-6 weeks.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I went on the Subway tour last weekend. We met at Media Bridges at Race and Central Parkway. I bet that was part of the group you saw. Seeing a partial built subway station underground makes you wonder how Cincinnati would be different if it was successfully implemented. The possibility of a streetcar in Cincinnati was mentioned in the slide show presentation. The tone of it was neither positive nor negative.

Cincinnati: 33 West Fourth St
I noticed this week, they put plywood in the windows, and painted them white. Kind of weird looking. I will try to snap some pictures. I think MMF had their chance, let someone buy it and do something with it!!!

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Love the idea of the volunteer ambassador program. By making it volunteer, you really get the people who want change, and are willing to invest their time in it. I think it will give outsiders and suburbanites the impression that we are community. Sign me up! The litter is definitely an eyesore. I can only pick up so much when I walk down the street. That issue stems from people lacking pride in their neighborhood. You wouldn't throw trash in your car if it was your prized possession. Why don't people see their neighborhood like that?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Is there a law on loitering? If so, what are the details and fines? It seems a sidewalk would be public city property and anyone has a right to be on it. When does the sidewalk in front of a business become their property....hmm, my wheels are turning. This is an issue, and I would like to see how others suggest dealing with it.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I still walk to Findley Market from my condo on 4th street, and I usually get left alone. But it only take one time that someone lunges at you (oh yeah that happened one morning on a run) or someone makes you feel uncomfortable with comments, that makes you reconsider going to an area. There was a time recently where a confrontation was happening on a corner of Washington Park, and I crossed the street to avoid being near it. That is my problem with loitering....it can be territory driven. Thanks for calling me out on that comment. It was not fair. There are many people who work shifts, and I should give them the benefit of my doubt and not pass judgement.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I will be honest...the loitering bothers me. I get the impression these are able people who should be at a job who are up to no good. I get comments made to me when I walk by like "hey blondie" ect. There are nice parks around that people can congregate in but I don't like it on corners with no bus stops or in front of businesses. Is there a cop at that Kroger like the there are at the ones at the Corryville and Walnut Hill location?

SkyBus launches / Sky Busts
They sent this letter this morning: Dear Skybus Customer: We regret to inform you that Skybus Airlines will cease all operations effective 12:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5. As a result, your Skybus flight has been cancelled. Skybus will not be processing refunds directly. To arrange for a refund on your reservation, please contact your credit card company directly. If you purchased flight insurance for your reservation, please refer to your insurance confirmation from AIG for information on filing a claim. Skybus struggled to overcome the combination of rising jet fuel costs and a slowing economic environment. These two issues proved to be insurmountable for a new carrier. We deeply regret the impact this decision will have on our customers, as well as our employees and their families, vendors, suppliers, airport officials and others in the cities in which we have operated. Our financial condition is such that our Board of Directors felt it had no choice but to cease operations. More information will be made available on the Skybus web site (www.skybus.com).
