CLEVELAND-I want to buy an abandoned house!
Gotta love adverse possession in some states. It's always laughable how banks, municipalities, and land bank agencies will waste countless hours going through rigorous paperwork only to find someone has taken over the property since said agencies were irresponsible enough not to check the property after a certain period of time.

Ann Arbor?
I've lived in Ann Arbor for 6 years but left in 2009. Alot has changed since! Good call on Zingermans. I'd pass through the farmers market in the morning on your way in Kerrytown. Coffee shops to check out would be Sweetwaters in Kerrytown and Lab Coffee on Liberty Street near state. For bars, Grizzly Peak, Jolly Pumpkin, Heidelberg, and Ashleys. Ashleys has all sorts of obscure beers from all over the world. Heidelberg has this cool old world castle dungeon feel in the basement. Grizzly Peak is your typical brewpub. Jolly Pumpkin is a microbrew but I've never been there, but heard great things. None of these bars are college / sports hangouts....and their tv count is very low. Mainly townies, visitors, and older grad students go there just socialize and have great quality drinks. As far as gift shops, you'll find a few places on main st as well as a ton of shops in the Kerrytown Market (2nd floor) near Zingermmans. For a nice stroll, walk down Liberty Street east to State Street and head south, cut through The Diag on campus. But upon reaching south university, head West on toward the law quad and cut through there. You can head back north on state the way you came. Michigan's Central campus is very compact and the walk distances are short...but it's a pleasant experience. I'm not going to debate the merits of U of M's campus quality. It's subjective and that debate belongs in another thread. But it's a nice play to say the least.

CHICAGO Springtime Instagrammy (2 of 3)
Thanks for the comments all! Yeah tons of hipsters there though I was surprised by the number of families also. People were barbecuing along the boulevards. It was a cool sight.

DETROIT Urban Adventure (Spring 2012): Part 1
Great work! I love that view toward MCS and downtown. I wanna check out the Charlevoix hotel downtown next time in Detroit since I heard it may be facing the wrecking ball soon.

Damn. We have this familiar homeless person in our neighborhood. He wears everything he owns, I'm not kidding. He looks like a hockey player. Problem is he's never taken a shower....at least so its rumored. People have given him stuff, but I guess he doesn't want to go to the shelters. Well anyway, today the stench went from bad to horrific. Very early this morning I was riding my bike towards him. The wind was blowing at my back. And he was crossing the street in front of me. I could smell the wretched stench from 100 feet. One Hundred Feet away before I even got near....and with the wind blowing toward him, not away This is not an exaggeration. I was floored that a single human is capable of stenching up an entire city block. Yeah...skunks can outdo that, but we're talking humans. There must be a level where poor hygiene reaches lethal levels. Usually ammonia from sweat is quickly broken down, but all those layers of clothing I'm certain don't help. This guy really needs help, but I don't blame people for being afraid of getting to close. It's hard to believe I far away and gagging from the smell.

Tallest Building in the World
I wish I could say it's because of their state of the art rail system...though I'm sure it gets decent ridership. You can actually see the Red Line passing by on the right side of the photo.

Tallest Building in the World
Man, I feel like a cold drink after looking at those photos. I'll be seeing this eventually. My firm operates an offic in Abu Dhabi, but I've never seen Dubai. There's regular charter buses between Abu Dhabi and Dubai so getting around isn't much of an issue. But the cost of going up in the tower is outrageously expensive.....and people complain about the Skydeck price here in chicago lol.

Love the beach town character. BTW, you seem to have gotten a new camera. The shots look really great, what camera do you have?

^ It's crazy because you think that stuff would just wash away with floods and all the gaps in between would just allow erosion to continue its course. Anyway, some friends and I decided to explore Naperville, IL. It was an hour and twenty metra-rail ride west from Chi Union Station. We breezed through many beautiful 1920's suburban downtown with exceptional art deco architecture. I want to visit Berwyn, LaGrange, and Riverside when I get a chance. I should point out that the trip was bearable becuase Metra-Rail allows alcohol on their trains (so as long as you are well behaved). A few other groups on our rail car were mixing drinks as well, and we had ourselves a little party with quiet music and invited other passengers to partake. It was fun and great conversation. Something you'd never be able to by car.

Ohio Highway Patrol
Many days, you rarely see cops out enforcing speed. A couple days, you'll see a ton of cops out enforcing speed. You were probably around during those few days. I've driven alot through Ohio (I usually rent a car), and haven't seen any unusual levels of enforcement that would make it different from any other states. I don't think the level of speed enforcement has anything to do with the business climate unless you are specifically talking about trucking

Cincinnati: Photographing the City
The detail photos of Carew show a time where every little feature was thought out. We hardly do that anymore, and it's a great we keep these treasures around.

Charles Schroer Mortuary - Forbidden City Tour at Mansfield, Ohio
Interesting building, and nice expression of it's construction. Steel encased in concrete with block infill. It was pretty modern for it's time.

Pet Peeves!
Still shocked about David's story. Have to admit I'd wanna put up a fight too, but thinking about the knife thing I'll reconsider. I hate it when you're in an elevator, and two people will carry on a loud conversation...and maybe it's something personal. By the time you get close the lobby they look at you and laugh and say "Wow you probably think we're the weirdest people." You really don't know what to say in those moments the door is about to open. You shake your head in agreement they think you're eavesdropping. Act confused, they just laugh. I've found the perfect solution. Just put on headphones and listen to music in the elevator. I'll at least greet people when I board, but at least it makes them aware you are not listening, but still polite. If they don't notice, they'll just look stupid when they try to pull that line at the end of the elevator ride and realize you can't hear a word they are saying. And since 60% of my pet peeves occur in elevators or confined spaces, I'd just like to also say I don't like it when people use freight elevators for passenger use. Since I have a bicycle, I'm required to use freight elevators, but the door will open and there's some people who will go down to the service lobby only to exit through the formal lobby where the passenger elevators are. What makes it more difficult is trying to fit a bike in with other people. Two bicyclist can fit fine, or a bicyclist with delivery person with a dolly....so it shouldn't be a problem since freight elevators receive less traffic. Not the case in my building. I've decided to board the car in these cases in the least graceful way possible. Struggle with the bike a bit. Slightly careless maneuvering the greasy and dirty wheels around people in work attire. 'Accidentally' block the laser so it takes the door forever to close. Basically....pass on the inconvenience to the passengers that are using the wrong elevator and making it difficult for the residents that are required to take freight.

NATO in Chicago
I'll miss it greatly. I don't wanna leave. It's been beautiful to photograph, inside and out. I'll miss cruising in on that smooth marble floor on my longboard. Musky, I've actually done a few, but I'm not very good at the technique.

The spiders have completed webs in every one of my windows which means summer has officially begun in Chicago. If I ever find a bug in my apartment, I toss them to the spiders lol
