  1. I see the new prefab lofts peaking around that terra cotta building! At least its appearance is better than the Church's chicken. Could be worse.

Not before I use the 50% off card I got. To be honest, the prices are actually reasonable at Fred's, but I was about to have a large dinner later, so I didn't want to spend alot. Really, my next option was McDonalds but I was trying to impress a girl.

It's interesting every time this thread gets updated I'm in a new place. The neighborhood doesn't fit my personality, but it's nice being a short walk from work and just a half block from the Mag Mile. Yes, MTS I took this from Fred's at Barney's and ordered the cheapest on the menu lol

The Louis Vuitton store down the street decided to choose a tacky convenience-store-like window decorations for this holiday season. Blue and green LED patterns

I have to admit hard liquors do the trick in this cold weather.

Excellent work Sherman. If only I had the time and money how great it would be to restore one of these houses.

LOL I've heard that type of stuff too......although of course a very narrow example, but a true one at times. On the other hand comparing different types of colleges and universities is a level playing field. I don't think any employer will discriminate. I feel I know people from all levels of types of schools that secured good careers in different types of places. It's really about what you can prove on a resume and what experience you accumulate with internships, past jobs etc. I think you have to be set on what you are going to do in life if you choose a private school with just a few programs. Seems like state schools tend to offer more programs that allow you to make adjustments if you don't feel like you are on the right path.

They layout is definitely starting to shape up quite nicely. It would be cool with the terrain is massed out on each side of that bridge. Quite a view of that railyard on the website. I'd probably mess it up on accident with those complicated switchboards....it'd probably end up like this:
  10. I've warmed up to the new one. At first unsure, but I really like it. Unsure about the slight orange color of the "pinned threads" I think it should be another blue tone. I like the orange links though. This board supports formatting for mobile devices. Why isn't it implemented at the moment?
  11. No. Well, kind of yes. It opened 5 weeks ago where pottery barn used to be. The Mich Ave pottery barn was a disaster in the making for years, for the fact it should have been something more like their North Ave store. I'm actually it shocked it survived that long with such of a mediocre store when it should have been more flagship like the 4 story Crate and Barrel down the street. Scaffolding recently went up in front of the old Victoria Secret. Looking like something new is moving in.

Found this ridiculously stupid video today during lunch. I found myself laughing though http://www.break.com/index/man-versus-toddler.html#id1516234

Flint benefits from the fact that many of its neighborhoods near the core are intact while outer neighborhoods are in big trouble. I guess it helps from a planning standpoint if you are trying to present the heart of the city as this really nice place. Flint could easily fool someone. Its downtown is becoming nicer every year, yet the doom and gloom of continuous losses in automotive jobs will go on at least for another decade.
  15. If I were to state my grandiose budgetless plan for MCS it would be this. Demolish the aging Cobo and move the new center above the tracks behind MCS. Extend LRT out to MCS and have a high speed rail station there. MCS would be the new front entrance to the convention center, at the same time functioning as a transit center. It provides easy access to visitors who would use the center, and all the open space allows easy expansion for the convention center, thus being competitive with city's like Chicago that have over time built up more and more convention space. Let's face it, COBO is out of room and the place is a dump. It sits on valuable riverfront land with no chance of expansion. I think it's a good opportunity to solve several of Detroit's problems. The problem is my plan would cost a fortune and no one has the money to this......except maybe the owner....

Yep, and better watch out. With that big deficit they may start taxing urban exploration. 10% for every photo taken.

That building is going to be demoed next month so I wouldn't worry about protecting it's identity although you did walk onto state property

Where is this? I've seen this
  23. ^ I'm going to have to do research on that. Most likely building owners sold for good offers, thus kicking the tenants out. This all happened way back in the Archer days, late 90's. Past articles only list land as being "acquired." The casino proposal for this area was extravagant, a beautiful and incredibly expensive building actually.....impressive enough for the city to acquire all the land. Obviously, we all know the casinos built elsewhere and did more good for the city in their current locations. What still exists would definitely make a great warehouse district with the help of some infill. But alot of it is on hold because of the recession.
  24. So much for the save the carnegies program...

Ah that confirms my ignorance that Ohio is all about farms and some dirty and dark generic skyline in the distance. In all seriousness, there is too much going on in the design. It needs to be simplified.
