Miami University: New Farmer School of Business Building by Robert Stern
This has to be one of stern's best works. OSU wins Ill admit. The 2 RAM Stern buildings on my beloved U of M campus leave some to be desired.

So I'm about to tarnish chicago's prestigious oak street shopping district tomorrow with my old beat up pickup full of stuff for my apartment. Doing it Detroit scrapper style. I've actually been warned 5 times to use the back alley, not the front.

USA Today: Cities Turn Off Streetlights to Save Money
Converting 1,500 streetlights to LED will save $100,000/year on average in electrical costs. That's continuously leaving the lights on. Also LED's don't generate as much (if none at all) light pollution. They are also more practical to power by solar sources if a municipality decides to implement that technology. Most inner cities shouldn't jump on the plan to shut off lights since copper theft is a major problem. It just makes it easier to rip out the wires. Plus you can expect a spike in crime.

Around Cincinnati 8/26/09
Amazing. I love how Cincinnati's geography creates some interesting viewpoints above all that nice architecture.

Deathless Detroit: The Heidelberg Project
It's private so even driving or walking through there is actually a privilege not a right. Even if you were to take photos driving by, he won't fuss over it. The warning is geared towards those who enter his property, photograph his work, and intend to make profit off it. Even so, if anyone wants to take photos, just be respectful and ask, otherwise what is the point in even coming in the first place. The city made attempts to demolish because they thought it violated ordinance. Turns out it didn't which is why it continues to stand today. Chris said this was a Meijer Department store last time.

PURE MICHIGAN
Alright alright. It's just a joke. Seriously I grew up in Saginaw and lived in Ann Arbor for 6 years and even I laughed. Nice touch ink with the Chicago move at the end. I almost missed that. Granted seeing my hometown fall into its depressed state (well the East side that is) is saddening, but there's a time to lighten up about it like FUN TIMES IN CLEVELAND TOODAY!! This thread reminded me earlier that I have a disastrous thread coming highlighting epic infill failures in Chicago.

Buffalo, NY's light rail subway
Well it helps me get to places I want since I have no space to park a car. Though I wish I could have my car and the train. Great shots! i can agree that some of the stations could use some facelifts.

Downtown Detroit in Danger of Demolition
A block away, expect to hear some good news soon about a couple abandoned/90% vacant buildings around Capitol Park. This will be the next area of focus for redevelopment.

Cincinnati: Xavier University's move-in day 2009
I still did all the welcome week stuff for freshman even as a senior. How could I pass up all the free food. The move-in was pretty easy for me. You'd pull up and 5 students would have all your stuff moved up in 2 trips. If you needed help with assembly, they'd provide it. If you decided you wanted a loft for your room, they'd build it. It was nice because it gave time with the fam to wander around campus instead of worrying about getting everything set up throughout the day.

I've always been curious about this place driving by on the freeway.

Saginaw, MI in 15 minutes
Thanks, I hope the best for Saginaw. I really want it to succeed, and I'll have to keep an eye on the news. The metro area is doing well and attracting jobs with alternative energy research and manufacturing. Just wish it left a greater impact on the East side. As far as Chicago, there's no turning back now. I just signed a lease for a place right off the Magnificent Mile on Oak Street. There's a lot of stores on my block I'll probably never shop at lol. I just like that I can walk to work nearby.

Saginaw, MI in 15 minutes
Well, there's beaches 10 miles away in the Saginaw Bay, but they are all fenced off since the water contains Dioxin and sewage overflow.

I cannot believe you found Crapo Street. That area Holland near Genesee is actually pretty dangerous. The Sunnyside Gang used to really run things over in that area, the FBI had a huge sting operation in that hood a few years ago. They were known for just shooting up a bunch of random people walking down the street. With that said, I thought the thread was rather positive with all the blue skies and stuff. BTW, the owners of that church in AA paid people to strip it down. It was supposed to be demolished over a year ago but the onset of the recession killed this project that is to replace it.

Abandonments of Detroit
I see you hit up the old dock warehouse. I've been really wanting to check out the roof of that place for sometime. I hate to just park anywhere nearby since I would be ridiculously visible. #14. Building on the left, wide open. I'm going to have to make a special trip for this one. Some really nice photos you got here, hopefully you continue to come back and get some more!

!! I decided to clean off my university server space since after graduation, they drop it from unlimited to 10 Gb. Looks like I was a bit too aggressive and accidentally deleted my avatar. Guess it's time for a new one.
